I’ll be at Gassed on Track at Silverstone this Saturday! It’s going to be a mad day out! Grab your tickets before they sell out: www.silverstone.co.uk/events/gassed-track
I recently bought a L405 and Land Rover refused to quote me, a 51 yr old male, full NCB and no points, South Coast location, garaged overnight, Ghost and Scorpion fitted 5k per year mileage. Go figure! 🤷🏼♂️
Yep The Truth is..... A vehicle on Higher Purchase or Finance is considered as Sold when Insurance pays out. Fraud in my opinion!! He who buys with cash will always be awarded BUY IT NOW instead of Forecourt
Big problem in the the U.K. but living in UAE where people tend to have respect over the unruled U.K. there’s thousands of them on the road. So worldwide Land Rover seem to still be doing very well outside of the U.K.
pre-f-cisely . Why fix something that aint broke ? My LPs still sound excellent on my dads old record player ( 1960 ) modern tech ?? one headache after another q abuse ....
My daughters 2016 Range Rover Sport was stolen from a private parking space in Surrey Keys, SE London last year (the Met then retrieved it). She received her renewal insurance quote in May at £26,400 (19 years NCB). It’s now parked in my drive in Bedfordshire, where I’ve insured it for £800! Clearly RRS are uninsurable in London due to the theft problem.
Also anyone that goes on about Land Rover in a negative way, hasn’t driven them. They drive really nice and do what they do well. I’ve had a few and they never let me down.
I’ve had an L494 SDV8 for about 6 months now. A few little issues since I bought it. Common stuff like handbrake actuators and oil cooler gaskets etc. All stuff I’ve tackled myself. It’s safe to say I’m a Range Rover convert. My missus uncle is in his third, the engine went on his SDV6. So he bought a brand new Defender commercial and recently bought a 2020 SVR. He swears by them even though his second one was a nightmare.
They got good at it because they let them. Their chickens have come home to roost. They knew security was bad but insurance were paying out and customers were coming back to buy new ones. Insurance companies finally had enough. Why people still buy them is beyond me.
That's just not true at all. Security technology is implemented during the creation of the vehicle, which can be 3 years by the time it goes on sale, so naturally it means they are susceptible as the theft technology is advancing all the time. The security is as good as any other leading brand, but they are targeted by thieves because they are stolen to order. Insurance companies are running a cartel and are raising prices because they can. They need regulating.
Looked at Velar but the insurance was ridiculous. I’m 51 clean license and full no claims. The cheapest quote I got was just over £3k and no I don’t live in London or a city at all. I was told that turning off the keyless entry works and is easy to do on the Range Rover.
Insurance is still mental. Atleast double but also triple. Everyone is up but JLR is massive. Lovely cars but let's not play the issues down. The manager can say whatever hr wants. Comical PR.
Also they spontaneously combust. Had one spontaneously combust outside my house. I realised when I heard the tyres exploding. Ran out to see what was going on. Entire car was engulfed in flames and the family only just managed to pull over and evacuate in time. Certainly put me off ever getting one .
Love your positivity. Sold my Disco due to slidong residual and increasing insurance costs. But they are great machines. Hope they fox this issue as a landmark UK based manufacturer.
The key box/pouch is no good anymore regardless of the signal booster. The criminals now have a machine which unlocks your car without the key being anywhere near! Plug in device to OBD, 30 seconds later they drive off. Get a steering lock and an immobiliser! Great vid!
They never need the key near the car. Its a relay system where you trap a signal on device from a key. If you walk past someone searchin they get your code signal then they can take it anytime. This cannot be stopped unless you dont use keyless keys. You can do this with a simple c.b handheld radio too n also block people entering ther car 😂😂😂 land rover owners will just be car jacked if they ever managed to stop people receiving signals
Switch off the keyless entry, first thing I did when I picked up my Range Rover Sport. The car doesn’t send out the signal looking for the key. I honestly don’t see the point of keyless in the first place.
It's only a matter of time before the thieves will get around this. Manufacturers are stupid not making new cars keyed. We want OPTIONS on new cars. Keyed or keyless. Manual handbrake or electronic.
Sorry its late in the day, but did they mention anything about residual value of RRS's? They crashed over the New Year/early 2024 by 50% so will the value come back?
Wouldn’t touch one tbh think it’s more jlr customers than the cars -think they are above everyone hil has a long way to being a prestige brand most I deal with have a bungee rope attached to the dealer
Be careful with the Faraday key pouches, they fk out quite quickly, tested mine when it arrived all good, tested again in around 3mths later not working 😕
Fair enough posting the video, and I think I’m time the theft issues will be resolved to a point they are just as vulnerable as any other manufacturers. However I don’t buy into the idea that you won’t have problems with them, you seem to be lucky but they are notoriously unreliable, I know people who work within the dealerships and there are a lot of issues! I would not buy one for that reason alone. However they do build some cool cars, and hope they get these issues sorted. I seem to remember a period on Mercs being known as horrendously unreliable but seem to be back on track. It’s all interesting stuff though 👍
Record profits last year probably due to the number of thefts and insurance payouts meaning people buy another. Unsure if new update will really work alot seam to be going without boosting key signals now.
Being a Ford owner, keys in tinfoil or faraday pouch, these things need to be sorted by the manufacturer we should not need to go spend extra on security
Wrap ya keys in some tin foil works a treat ! Creates a Barrier so they can’t pick ya signal up from your fob …. Just try it calv … wrap your key fob in tinfoil and try and open your car .. let me know how you get on
But what about previous generation land rovers like the one your giving away on Planet of dreams? Land Rover don’t do a recall on those ones do they? 2017-2014 models…?
Sorry I dont agree... My svr was immaculate My insurance went up from £1100 to £3800..(clean licence driving for 35yrs) I lost 30k in 2 years..NOBODY WANTED TO BUY IT!!!.The problem has not been fixed.THEY ARE WORKING ON IT...
Hi Calvin. I really like these Range Rover's, lol 😆. Thank god that the issue with the thefts is behind them by now. Your famous Calvin, everyone knows you, lol 😅. There were some nice beautiful Rangies sitting in that car park, you drove right past them 😅😅. I would love to own one of them. Your wife's Range Rover is cool 😎. Great video again, bro. 👌👏👏🇮🇪
People can still get your signal when you lock or open your car 😂😂😂 all the updates in the world won't stop relay theft. The problem is the signal is accessible from anthing near when your key is active. An nfc tag is safer than keyless keys
James enjoyed your video, I’ve owned Range Rovers for over 20 years. My 2018 RR Autobiography full size was £800 a year to insure. My latest RR HSE full size new shape delivered March 2023, beautiful car, insurance £2600. This March my existing insurer wanted over £10k . I’m currently insured with RR insurance at £420 per month. Within an hour of my new insurance I got a security recall from RR for an update. Spent the afternoon on hold with Landrover remote without getting to speak to anyone. Eventually had the security update done last week at a dealership near our house in Cornwall (we live in London) . I cannot speak more highly of the car but the value has dropped off a cliff, instead of having a premium from being an early order and the insurance is a nightmare. I don’t leave this car at the airport like my previous new RR’s and think carefully where I’m going and where I can park with this new model. I now use a steering lock. Feel very let down by Landrover, if the new models aren’t affected why the insurance companies running away from these cars?
Let’s address the elephant in the room really , there engines /build quality are absolute garbage of recent years, engine failures at 40k etc..wouldn’t have one ..xx
You know they could have just disabled the keyless entry system, job done. Instead of praising them, you should be tearing them a new one. Its not like people didnt predict cars would be easier to rob with keyless entry , like Duuuuh.
Ghost immobiliser and and a proper tracker fitted and ban keyless you'd think a company that has millions to spend in development would solve an issue quickly 😂
That’s my fault I apologise. He’s not dodgy at all he was a true gent and a great representative of the brand. He was extremely polite and accommodating but didn’t want to come on camera purely out of respect to the above which I rate.
Insurance costs going up this year is down to electric vehicles as virtually any damage to an electric car writes it off as no one wants the risk of working on them with the battery pack , so thanks electric crap
It's good that JLR are finally sorting the issue but these cars will still be desirable to to thieve who will just change tactics and go back to home invasion to get the keys
I’ll be at Gassed on Track at Silverstone this Saturday! It’s going to be a mad day out! Grab your tickets before they sell out:
www.silverstone.co.uk/events/gassed-track
Calvin did they offer you the discounted JLR insurance with a 150 a month contribution?
I recently bought a L405 and Land Rover refused to quote me, a 51 yr old male, full NCB and no points, South Coast location, garaged overnight, Ghost and Scorpion fitted 5k per year mileage. Go figure! 🤷🏼♂️
I had to sell mine because insurance went from £1600 to £20,000… yes you read it correctly. £20,000!
because you live in London?
The soar in profit was all the customers who had their cars stolen buying new ones
Yep
The Truth is.....

"un-ruled UK" - ain't that the truth
Whatever happened to putting key in a hole and turning it ,all car manufacturers have done is made it easier for the crook

People have become lazy. Doing that requires too much effort.
Negative people seem to be everywhere Calvin I’m so glad your not one of them it must be very draining for them

Just wanna point out that Mark McCann has done a number of videos on the subject of Land Rover security problems, and how it could’ve been avoided
Also anyone that goes on about Land Rover in a negative way, hasn’t driven them. They drive really nice and do what they do well. I’ve had a few and they never let me down.
I’ve loved the 2 I’ve had
Land rover was let down by the aftercare and parts market. Every part costs £450+ vat and is on back order.
I’ve had an L494 SDV8 for about 6 months now. A few little issues since I bought it. Common stuff like handbrake actuators and oil cooler gaskets etc. All stuff I’ve tackled myself. It’s safe to say I’m a Range Rover convert.

@@jamiebray4205both things can be true
JLR and insurance companies both fkd it

I drive a 24 plate Ateca, first thing I got Seat to do was disable Keyless entry and keep my keys in a faraday pouch just incase.
Nobody wants to pinch it - don't worry! :D Sorry, couldn't help myself ;)
Nobody is tryna steal that shit
Relax
Also they spontaneously combust. Had one spontaneously combust outside my house. I realised when I heard the tyres exploding. Ran out to see what was going on. I would be interesting in knowing how much this software update reduces the insurance by? Probably won't make any difference
The key box/pouch is no good anymore regardless of the signal booster.

Just get a ghost immobiliser

Remove a fuse, old school.
The second I click on a new video I instantly like it regardless. Standard procedure for a while. Great vids mate.
It's only a matter of time before the thieves will get around this.
Manufacturers are stupid not making new cars keyed.
We want OPTIONS on new cars.
Keyed or keyless.
Manual handbrake or electronic.
We have had a jag f type now for the last couple of months and love it moved from audi and dont think we will be looking back
Imagine paying a lot of money for your Range Rover, just to get it stolen by someone in 30 seconds 😅
Sorry its late in the day, but did they mention anything about residual value of RRS's? They crashed over the New Year/early 2024 by 50% so will the value come back?
Does anyone know what year of car this recall is extended to?
Wouldn’t touch one tbh think it’s more jlr customers than the cars -think they are above everyone hil has a long way to being a prestige brand most I deal with have a bungee rope attached to the dealer
James is the manager of that branch. Let’s just say his reputation proceeds him. No wonder he didn’t want to be on camera
😂
😂😂😂
Go on??
Pandora Car Alarms. Have a blue tooth tag and car won't start without . If car jack car will shut down within two minutes.
Its gotta have affected the sales if you cant get insurance, no matter what they say
Be careful with the Faraday key pouches, they fk out quite quickly, tested mine when it arrived all good, tested again in around 3mths later not working 😕
They should develop something that keeps the transmission locked in park (p)
Fair enough posting the video, and I think I’m time the theft issues will be resolved to a point they are just as vulnerable as any other manufacturers.

Well think Landover should do there own Insurance cos I can't get insurance under 7k

Calvin ,do a video in 6 months regarding security updates ,did the software update actually work?
JLR 2.0 ingenium, a work of art! 😂
JLR would probably want it known that it isn’t actually a recall which is a specific official thing but a security enhancement I believe they call it
Prices have dropped so much on 2024 to 2018 I have been offered quite a few RR sport 2016 hse with pan roof. For £16?
JLR will still profit regardless of their cars being stolen more. Insurance companies will keep them sales sky high
Why not just fit a factory ghost and get the customer to choose code upon purchase.
im not going to lie Calvin, i love land rovers and have slagged them off in your comments on other videos!
Land Rover insurance refused to insure me RR SPORT 2019 …..but I did get insured for £775 which I was ok with
Do you live in London or Greater London ? That’s a good price
Which company did u use
The Dealership is independently run 🙄
Wrap ya keys in some tin foil works a treat ! Creates a Barrier so they can’t pick ya signal up from your fob …. Just try it calv … wrap your key fob in tinfoil and try and open your car .. let me know how you get on
Shame Ford won’t do that for the fiesta st180
Awesome video calv.makes my days easier!
I love land rovers cars but their reliability and easy pay day for thieves is what puts me off
Fair play to Calv for respecting their privacy, unlike that 🛎⬅ 'auditor' who goes around filming at car dealers without their permission
You don't need permission to video things in public 😂 go and live in China if that's what you want
Interesting content. Keep up the good work on your channel. Regards, WR4K.
Cheers fella 👍💪😉
If you look at the Mark McCan videos I don’t think this update fixes this issue
Love the vid but couldn’t help but notice the white S1 behind you half the video 😂
If it’s a subscriber’s, hello fellow owner!

The uk needs to just let Land Rover go & let other countries have them
Cal do they get in touch or did you get in touch with them?
They will get in touch with all affected cars in batches of 1,000 cars at a time to manage the flow of work at the dealerships.
Thanks Cal. 🤙

Oops sorry Calvin , I know you’re not called James !!
With the insurance companies not insuring land rovers, they had to do this call recall before they lose sales
Great content Calv .
*Films the no filming sign*
😂
I love the way the Range Rovers look, but i wouldnt buy one because of all the reliability issues. Even with BMW engines, they're not as reliable.
How much did they pay you cal? What freebies did you get? 😂
I’ve joined the comp and fingers crossed I win something cause after a driver crashed into my last car I really need another ❤❤❤
Loving the fact that your wife is polish 😂😂😂
Surly thieves are going to be more inclined to break into houses and get the keys
For security, remove the throttle pedal 🤷♂️
Great looking , decent quality , but coming from one someone who works for jlr main dealer they are a pain in the fucking as to work on .
Audi S1 still kicking :D
Another class video
Let’s address the elephant in the room really , there engines /build quality are absolute garbage of recent years, engine failures at 40k etc..wouldn’t have one ..xx
Utter nonsense. Their 3.0d V6 is bullet proof.
Can't be that good as 16 yrs old kid steal in 20 seconds
You know they could have just disabled the keyless entry system, job done. Instead of praising them, you should be tearing them a new one. Its not like people didnt predict cars would be easier to rob with keyless entry , like Duuuuh.
Ghost immobiliser and and a proper tracker fitted and ban keyless you'd think a company that has millions to spend in development would solve an issue quickly 😂
Ghost can still be bypassed easily
You heard it here first guys! Buy a Range Rover and one day you may be able to insure it!!!! 😂
Correct , repeater needed obd and scanning the car itself seems be the new way
They’ve smashed there quarterly target because of all the cars being stolen and people stupidly re buying another one with there insurance money
The manager, as an ambassador for JLR is missing a trick in not endorsing his brand on camera. The disguised voice makes him seem dodgy.
That’s my fault I apologise. He’s not dodgy at all he was a true gent and a great representative of the brand. He was extremely polite and accommodating but didn’t want to come on camera purely out of respect to the above which I rate.
i am surprised you dont use a ghost immobiliser
odb lock easy fix
Why not just make the punishment for stealing the car worse.
Insurance costs going up this year is down to electric vehicles as virtually any damage to an electric car writes it off as no one wants the risk of working on them with the battery pack , so thanks electric crap
No it wont haha there’s a bypass already
It's good that JLR are finally sorting the issue but these cars will still be desirable to to thieve who will just change tactics and go back to home invasion to get the keys
I don't know why but I take it personal if someone tries to take one of Calvin's car...more so than my own..
