One simple explanation for this could be the fact that South Park (SP) is always looking to be relevant and keep up with th times, and their research inevitably makes them connect the dots. Wouldn't be surprised if that's all it is. SP writting to what's relevant in those days.
Hey! You are correct in saying that correlation does not imply causation, but I did not try to say this anywhere in the video. Moreover, I warned viewers exactly of this pitfall, and of all the other biases that I was aware of when constructing this portfolio. SouthPark is indeed trying to discuss relevant at the time topics, which makes it exposed to potentially "predicting" stocks that will go up. I also concluded in the video that this is the most likely explanation for why the performance that we see is this good.
