This new overture (fast-slow-fast) from Michael Sweeney opens with a dynamic unison statement and features powerful percussion writing throughout. The lyrical slow section includes a short trumpet solo and lush woodwind scoring. Mike's unique use of harmonies and dramatic effects makes this particularly impressive for younger players.

I really recommend this for younger players to keep trying! I wish to say I played this but I am a violinist, so I'm not a band member. But my friends are and yeah, I recommend this.

Every instrument is supposed to play _ff_ for the last three measures in my band (I’m an alto saxophone player) and the only thing you can hear during that part is the tubas and trombones. They’re crazy loud.

This song brings me memories from middle school... I'm sad asf about all the good as times i had when i was little. Its been 4 years and i haven't forgotten this song at all.

The trumpet solos are great! we played this for concert festival, and i recommend playing this piece
eric chan yes we got superior, the judges really loved the piece, make sure to make the articulation very fine and on point
eric chan also when you get to the triplet part, make them stand out, very important for points!
yeah we played this for concert festival as well and the clarinet solo and trumpet solo were the best parts (aside from temp changes) I think
