Was quite surprised how well balanced the 15" cab was. The 212 sounded a bit more loose or less definition than the 115 or 210 cabs. I have the Powerhouse 212 and its something i've noticed with it compared to my Berg HT322 which has a 12" & 2x10's . Think for me i'd probably go with 115 & 210 cabs together would be my preferred mix. The 15 definitely surprised me and the mids were nice and not bottom and top end like other 115 cabs i've tried over the years. Great demo vid. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Orange OBC115 is another great sounding 15“ cab. 115 is the best standalone option imo for a variety of genres as it has enough bottom end on its own while also delivering nice mids and isn’t too bulky
Cool vid, man. My favourite cab from the selection here was the powerhouse 4x10/1x15. It was also really good to hear the subway's here, which all sound in a similar tonal family - which is cool. I've just bought myself a WD800, after trying one nearly 2 years ago and waiting to find a good deal. My original plan was to get the Subway 1x12 and 1x15, as that's how I've demo'd it a few times. However, I have an Eich 112xs at home and plugged the Mesa into that... sounds absolutely beautiful and very... natural?. Only thing I don't like about the Eich is it's rear-ported. I'm still going to get a Subway cab to compare.
I love a good 1x15 cab, but after starting to play electric bass and upright bass doubling gigs, I found the best speaker size for me was 1x12 cabinets. I'm currently using 2 Peavey Headliner 1x12 cabs for louder live shows, and have a Euphonic Audio M-Line Wizzy 1x12 for lower volume shows. I hate to be contrarian, but I didn't like the sound of the 8x10 (or most 8x10's I've played through) and I certainly dislike having to haul 8x10's around even more! 😄
I liked the 4x10+1x15 combo the best, it was crispy and full and had a stepped back but full feel. The 1x15 was my 2nd favorite. My favorite personal rig is a HartkeHD508, and or my SSB 1x10 enclosure packing a 8ohm Eminence B102 pushed by a HartkeTx300 or carvinBx250 microbass amp.
Started off thinking I'd lean to 12, but quickly changed to the 2x10. 15 didn't do it for me. 15+4x10 too big to manage. Maybe 1x15 & 2x10... Great review as always Ivan. You rock (literally and figuratively).

Hi - One question. When you mentioned these are Two Notes Cabs, are you sure these are IRs? Because as far as I know, they make cab sims that are are meant to be run on their devices like the Torpedo CAB M, and these sims are not true IRs.
They have a free plugin called wall of sound where you can load their cab sims. It works pretty much like their pedals. You can change microphone types, microphone distance, etc. that’s what i used here
I have the 8x10 SVT and it is great but I broke my back at work and now can’t move it. The head is actually worse than the cabinet as the cabinet is pretty much balanced.
Very informative video. I have a Hartke HD50 with a 10" speaker and a Gallien Krueger Backline 115 with a 15" speaker and they sound different from one another. I have most of my basses wired in stereo and run the neck pickup through the 15" and the bridge pickup through the 10". I use a Lehle Little Dual unit which corrects the grounding problem when using two amps from 2 separate pickups and it allows out-of-phase use also. I plan on buying an 18" speaker and trying it out.
@@IvanBassist Yes, but instead of two output jacks, I have one stereo jack and use a stereo cable ran to the Little Dual box. You can set the tone for each pickup and amp separately and even use different effects on each at the same time. It does require the use of 2 amps, the Little Dual, stereo cord and the modification to the bass wiring.
10 or even 12 alone is weak cab. It can be used only at home. But 410 sounds good, also 1x15" sound great. I have never tried 2x12 but it might be interesting.
That 4×10"+15" is a brilliant souding cab, that's all i would need for everything... i use a mix of a 2x12"+ single 15" cabs (Ashdown) ,i mic both cabs and mix them and it gives me the tone i want live & recording, been a while now right enough, used with my class A Warwick WA300 or WA600 heads I'm suprised how good they sound together... wish i could afford MESA cabs but very expensive here in the UK... very nice cabs, especially that 4x10"+15"....

Awesome rig!! It was actually my Noble DI set flat
Thanks! Loved this video.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching, Nate!
I use a Mesa M9 carbine with a SWR Marcus Miller 4x 10' sealed cab and Eden single 15' and they both sound grate on their own and even really awesome when I when I use them together, but for your test I thought the 8 ×10's sound the best flowed by the 2x 10' s and then single 15' .
I bet that rig sounds massive!
@@IvanBassist Yes it really does
I like the 15&4x10’s
Great cabs!
my faves were the 2x12 and 2x10
your playing made them all sound good. 810 the best.
Thanks!
Ivan. I think you got wrong some of the models. It’s an 2x15 and a 2x12, not a 2x12 and 2x10 respectively
Hey! Thanks for watching :) With all due respect, that’s not really possible because both the Subway 212 and 215 have vertical speaker setups. The 210 is the one that has diagonal speakers :) www.mesaboogie.com/cabinets--simulators/bass-cabinets/subway-series/index.html
All my cabinets are Mesa Boogie. I’ve got the super rare 4X12, 1X15, and the 4X10…. I wish I had the powerhouse 1000 with the 4X12 and 1X15 combination…. It just sounds better. The sound is well rounded. All my amps are Mesa Boogie also. Mesa Boogie M9, Mesa Boogie 400, and the powerful Mesa Boogie 400+ . I love the metal grill of the Mesa Boogie cabinets because of my cat. No tears
Mesa cabs look and awesome indeed!
2x15 love!!! Más definicion!!
12" all the way.
12”s are great! Thanks for watching!
Nice review- good work.
Thanks!
Power house 4x10 - 1x15 & Subway 1x15 my Favs,
Really like the sound of the 8x10 sim! That said, I own the 1x15 and you can easily get that tone by cutting out some 800Hz and boosting the bass slightly. All of these sound great though, have their own character.
Both great cabs! Which amp do you have? :)
@@IvanBassist I had the WD800 but I switched to the D800+ .
@@dwaynedelario both great amps!
The 8x10 sounds the warmest and fullest.
I like 212 and 810
Great cabs!
The 8x10 was the clear winner IMO.
I must say, I actually don’t like the 810 that much in this video at least. Really not enough mids at all for how I prefer to play at least
I really like this video, but I feel a little tricked because the title said cabinets and you are testing cab sims.
I understand your point of view. I thought it be fair to name it like that, because they are the official Mesa cabinet simulations 😊
@@IvanBassist I still watched the whole thing lol
3:30 4:07 4:43
The 15 or the 4 10….good info
Thanks for watching, Henry!
Mesa are Heaven on medium tones.
I want to hear the 2x15
Hey...awesome!
Glad you like it!
4x10+1x15 powerhouse!!!
15" speaker win
I really like that one, too!
"The 1x15 for me"......
Commercial than promo then plug-ins? What a bummer
Time to save for an amp 🤑
Absolutely!
🎉
212 all day
I choose 810.
Massive, right?
@@IvanBassist I need low mid, but huge gain. 15 inch is close to bass drum, for me.
1x15
Love that cab!
🤘🔥🔥🔥
🤘🏽🔥

Dude.... with all love and respect, but, f$#k distrokid. They can not continue to lie and rip off musicians as they do.
Besides that thank you for the video 👍
Sorry to hear that! What has been your experience?
Thanks for watching!
2:27 minutes of bullshit.
This was lame...
Sorry to disappoint you. I’d be happy to hear your feedback
