Clumsy is one of the strangest masterpieces in 90s discography. The whole thing evokes sort of a twisted carnival-like atmosphere (the creepy lyrics book certainly reinforces such imagery). However, in the midst of it all, there is hope and beauty. I would give this album something of an "A-" on the grand scale of albums.
+daweller Their first four albums he had one of the most unique voices in rock with Raine's falsetto. When they released Gravity produced by Bob Rock they became just another cookie cutter rock band and his voice with morphed for whatever was trending at the time. This is not to say that songs were necessarily bad either, I think a lot of Gravity has decent cuts on it and Healthy in Paranoid Times also did, but OLP never returned to what they did in their first four albums. Burn Burn they did revisit some of that and Paper Moon may be their most underrated track period but not completely like the 90s. Also I'm just not sure his voice can handle it.
That drummer. Damn, he earned his money on this song. I've never seen them live, but if they ever swing thru town, I'll have to check them out......just to see the drummer kill it.
Yeah. Neil Peart, Danny Carey, etc. But as far as non-progressive rock music, Jeremy is in a league of his own. He lays down some of the most creative, complicated beats, and they flow so easily, you don't even notice it. My old drummer was a straight up death metal guy (even though we played more melodic heavy rock with just a touch of metal). And OLP was still one of his biggest drum influences. That snare and cymbal work!
