When I was little I used to play this game so wrong! It's so exciting to see people play the game properly, and the commentary helps me understand exactly what's *actually* happening
So true man,when I was younger, I thought people were cheating when I played this game in multiplayer. But since t90 and zeroempires I feel like I can actually participate which is a cool feeling

@@rileygestwa5042 Thought i was soo good back in the day. Told my friend i met in highschool id beat him if we played. After all, I had so much experience playing AoE2 right? First online game i played i was just barely entering feudal and some guy rushed me and built 3 barracks outside my town and murdered my like 13 villagers.Prior to that i thought it was incredibly stupid to waste resources on more than 1 military building. Like.. I can already make champions. Why do i want another barracks? my army needs some horses, some archers, some skirmishers, even though i have no idea that they counter archers. Gotta have some siege mixed in too. My main unit back then was also cobra cars... so yeah. We were retarded.
When I was little I would just expand my city and get mad when other players attacked me.
DragonMoth34 LMAO cobra... I’d clicked and dragged a few cobra cars and right click them into each enemy base and bragged to my father that I beaten 1v7 hardest AI!! Those were the days.
Long-time watcher, first-time caller. Thank you, T90. Like most others, I was a casual player as a kid in the late 90s/early 2000s, and have gotten fully back on board thanks to your knowledge, enthusiasm and love for this game. I hope you're making a decent living from donations and ads, because you've done something wonderful for a dormant community that is falling in love with AOE2 all over again thanks to your work.

Callum McCarthy for me it was Spirit of the law that got me into watching AoE2 youtube, and I do not have steam I play on HD. But I have gotten way better since I started watching his videos.

I mentioned this on the first Settlers of Catan video that I think having a couple inner water tiles would be a neat addition. Have the deep fish on the outer water while the inner tiles can be used for shore fishing.

I think a cool addition would be to have the desert spawn bandits every 5 minutes or so.
No mention that king boo deliberately lured yellows halbs to blues tc with the king in it, so he could finnish blue off and still have all his light cav to fight grey. If only he went for greys TC first.
Wow yeah - I thought I was the only one. But yeah, I do fall asleep in the middle of some of your longer casts. I usually check in late at night - like after midnight, so am already tired. And then, watching a replay with your commentary is fun and relaxing, so naturally.... zzzzzzzzzz. I usually wake up just before the "final push" before game end - but I guess I am missing some cool stuff in the middle. No matter - great posts.

I think that one way to emulate the board game would be to make certain coastal market positions allow a market 100% extra gold per trade on a single resource or 50% extra on all resources, depending on which spot the market was on, if that is possible to make.

There should be a feature with desert, where a player can claim a militia ("bandit") by coming near it first, this allows the controlling player to go harass and stop people from collecting resources. Better yet, make it so a new gaia bandit spawns that can be claimed when the old one dies. Maybe add a a small barrier that prevent the bandit from moving for the first five minutes, that way players have time to build a tc. Kind of like a house rule where bandits cant be moved the until the second round.

Last time I was this early mammoths were still a thing.
It's pretty sad that Purple who had like 1000 Paladins over time was over run by Halberdier... and didn't think of making ranged units to take care of the Halberdier until his king was completely surrounded, lol. I guess he didn't realize Halberdier and Pikemen are the best units to take out horses. I thought everyone knew that.
It cracks me up how the weakest player (Teal) came to Purples aid with ranged units as Purples king was being over run by Halberdier, haha.

Malay isn't OP he just was uncontested on water. And Malay has probably the strongest eco bonus if they are uncontested with unlimited coast. Plus that combined with Force Levy is broken.

You should be able to garrison houses as all civs, its literally the point of houses. Purple was retarted for making so many Paladins against other units. Unit. Counters.

I get the feeling that AOE should make a new buff for the big European civilizations like Teutons and Britons. All these games seem to finish with some bizarre matchup for the win with Xhosa vs Olmec or something. It doesn’t seem fair to the fairer-skinned civs.

Love these videos, but I've always wondered why the You Tube videos are so much shorter than the recorded time in the games. Does he make them 1.25x speed or trim stuff out??? I hope to catch a live stream soon!
The AoE2 ingame time is a bit faster than real time when it is set on normal. So you're watching it exactly as it was played, it just counts faster on the ingame clock.
I'm conflicted here. I love this game and I love Catan. I can't get past the thumbnail though. The location of the settlements and cities on the actual game board is wrong. They should be on the corners of the hexagon tiles along the boarders of the tiles. Granted this could be creative design since the players can build wherever and not just on boarders. Who knows though. Maybe I'm just crazy. Maybe it's that way to drive people mad. Maybe this is the most pointless post you've ever read.

Portuguese i'm pretty sure is considered to be one of the lower tier civs, which results in them not being picked much. It's why you NEVER see Vietnamese picked as a civ since it's a general consensus that Vietnamese is the worst civ in the game.
