I have also decided starting this January to devote Saturdays to wips, also including different crafts like cross stitch, needle felting, punch needle, all those kits I've been collecting, just to get them done and out of my wips closet, including mending my hubby's socks, because he likes to put holes in his heels. I already participate in Scrappy Sunday with my Granny Square Blanket and Coxiest Memory Blanket, so I thought since I'm trying to move these wips etc. out and get them done, I'm calling it my I Like To Move It Move It Saturday! 😁
Helpful tip I use in quilted square cardigan. Put a marker after stitches 8 and 20. They tell you where the vertical lines are. Saved me time and frustration
Thank you for another cosy episode. I’m knitting on a pair of socks for my 18 year old. He has not wanted anything knit before, so when he asked I cast on immediately. 😊 He got to pick the yarn and chose one that’s bright red and black. Happy knitting from Anna in Sweden.
Hello Kaci. Gr8 job readjusting your sweater. The Heirloom Quilt Cardigan 😍😍 Whaattt? Stunning! Something that I would like 2 make but it will have 2 wait, as I am working on The Milton by JOJI Locatelli; I’m have fun knitting this up 😀
I have yarn from Coast to Coast Yarn Co.'s last preorder coming for my own Heirloom quilt cardigan and I'm so excited. I did math ahead of time to get the fit I want, and to make the colors fit without touching.
Love the colors you chose for the Heirloom Quilt Cardigan so much!! Its a dream knit ☺ Your opinions on the Noro Madara are really helpful! I've been really wanting to try it but I didn't know it breaks easily and I do knit tightly, so its good to know! 💛
Ooh, looking forward to the Wooly Knit-along! I have two cones in stash that I'm planning to use for a Kerr Sweater - this is the perfect opportunity to cast on!
LOVE your glorious Noro Madara sweater! It is so rich looking with that deep brown colorway. Seems like you got it done so quickly. You got it goin on GF!!!!!! Keep the inspiration comin!!!!!!!!!! Knitting hugs, Carrie from Northern San Francisco Bay Area🥰💓🐶🐑🌹☕🧵🪡🧶
Great episode Kaci! Can’t wait for the “wooly wools” KAL and trying some yarn new to me. Thanks for this and thank you to the KAL sponsor for the discount! WIN!❤❤❤❤❤
Another wonderful video!! I love love love seeing what you are knitting on - including your “test knits”. And I’m not holding my breath on you not doing very many this year 😂 thanks for sharing and providing so much JOY!!
Omg Kacy I am so glad you talked about the multiple knots in the Noro Madara yarn. I purchased this yarn after I saw you working with it, and it looks so beautiful. I can’t believe how many knots I have come across, sorry it happened to you but I’m glad it wasn’t just me.
Hi Kaci, I just love the Noro sweater and it looks so great on you. Plus I was fascinated by your sweater surgery with the grafting, such a great fix! The Heirloom Cardigan is going to be so beautiful and I have added it to my Ravelry queue. Looking forward to see how yours progresses!
Hi Kaci, Here in New York State, I worked on a sock while I enjoyed your podcast. Thank you for taking the time to share all your projects with us on TH-cam. I admire your style so very much. Also, I am in awe of your skill and work ethic! I look forward to your videos…just wanted you to know and say “thank you “…
What beautiful colours you have picked for that cardigan!! It's been on my wishlist for a while now, and hearing that it's about an hour per square might finally be the thing that gets me to start it. Thanks for the push!!
Loved seeing all of your makes and frogs, unfortunate it made some folks fell stressed. I know some folks can get that way, but for myself it was fun to watch and think what I would do with each of your projects. It was nice of you to share and be honest about all of your projects. Thank you for another inspiring video : )
I have never done any intarsia. Will you share some of yours? And talk about the process a little? Maybe compare it to color work? Or brioche? Thank you!
Hey! I am knitting with the woolyknit oatmeal colourway right now :) I'm making a Field Day Sweater by Ozetta for myself :) Good luck with the testknit x x x
I'm glad to see you working on the Sacred Sheep Hat again! I was inspired by you to knit that hat and I absolutely adore it! I didn't realize how versatile that pattern is and perfect for scraps! I plan on knitting a second one soon. Another great episode Kaci, thank you for sharing! Hope you are doing well and Happy February!
Your sweater looks so good! I'm so glad you shortened it because now it's stunning. It made me feel so good that knitting one square took you all day, and I don't mean that meanly. Between kids and dogs and work it takes me all day just to get a few rows done. It's nice to see that everyone isn't calmly knitting the day away (which is what my brain tells me at times lol) Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work with us!!! I was inspired to knit the Heirloom Quilt Cardigan when you mentioned it last time. I am brand new to color work, but I am a fast learner. And I'm not afraid to tackle things that seem complex. So I'm very excited to work on this!! But I was thinking as I was watching this how incredible it would be if you could do a video tutorial on how you knit one of these squares focusing on how you combine the intarsia with the ladderback jaquard. Or if you have a great video you can give for reference that would be amazing also! Thank you for being so inspiring! You have quickly become my FAVORITE youtube knitter!
15:20 I use a charp needle to „unspin“ the yarn ends by this I can reduce the volume of them es well, then split them into half and cross them (spit and rub them between my hands). I tryed cutting the half away before, but I prefer the needle. Hope this helps someone else too 😊
I test knit the quilt cardigan. I made a size one. It was a really fun knit I just wish I had knit it like one more row longer then the pattern suggested
I am working on the "Food for the Journey" scarf from Fellowship of the Knits pattern book. It's all lacework, which i am really enjoying. I love to see everything you are working on. That sweater turned out great!
I am sneaking some knitting into my grading afternoon as I am a teacher. I am working on the ribbing of the Antler Toque by Tin Can Knits. Checking out the motif to see if I want to knit the sweater.
I’m wanting to make the Heirloom Cardigan and I’d love to know what you mean by wrapping the Color work. I have only knit one color work sweater and it was a beast. 😂 I like these smaller squares!
I tried the heirloom pattern and although I’m a prolific knitter I just hated my finished squares. They were so bad. But I haven’t given up. I’m going to try and knit it in one piece (stillmperculating on that idea though😉). Good for you that you’re able to do it. The back of your block looks amazing.
Your Noro Madara sweater looks absolutely amazing! The colour looks so good on you! Re: knots in skeins - this is something I experienced as well. I'm a splicer so I tried to not let it bother me. However, when I used Noro Silk Garden Solo (the worsted one), there was at least 1 or 2 knots in every. single. skein. and I used 10 skeins. Maybe it's a Noro thing? Thanks again for a lovely video.
Quick question for you to consider: How will your Heirloom cardigan work structurally without the central panel of three squares in the back? Your current plans seem to be 12 squares in the front and a matching 12 squares in the back but that will mean you have no space for your back neckline. You could maybe make your top front panels either side of the neck into triangles to accommodate. You have totally inspired me to knit an Heirloom. And I live only 8 miles from the Woollyknit mill in Diggle, so I can go and try to grab some part cones. 🤗
@@YoungfolkKnits Oh, good - there’s always a work around. Swatched my first heirloom square today and my yarn is waaaaaay too thick. Was helpful to have seen your lovely drapey squares to have something to aim for. You’re fabulous, did you know? x
I'm loving your colors of the Heirlooms Quilt Cardigan so far. I made it too and was off gauge too so I also thought of just taking out some but then when I went to seam the fronts to the back I realized there would be enough room for the neck opening...just wanted to give you heads up incase you encounter the same problem.
I am working on Anchor Point, designed by Jennifer Beale, using Holst Super Soft, Illimani Sabri, and other woolly yarns from my stash. Also, the Riptide Slipover by JST designs.
Hi Kaci, I love the heirloom quilt cards you're making! I'm wondering if you could knit say four in a row in the round and steek them to save purling and also to knock a few out at a time. You could alternate colours in the colour work between the background and star....
I have been giving the Heirloom Quilt pattern the side eye. The next time I am in my LYS (Salty Sheep, Swansboro, NC), I plan to look at the available colors of Rowan felted Tweed. I want deep earthy colors although I am most often drawn to bright vivid colors.
Kaci, I love your podcast, and have almost finished watching all your episodes from the beginning! You are an inspiring knitter (I have more WIPS now than when I started watching 😬) and I love how relaxing your videos are, especially the farm and spinning parts. I look forward to seeing many more. BTW - what jumper are you wearing in this one? Look like fisherman's rib? Cheers, Jamie in Australia (originally from Oregon)

❤❤❤ the Noro sweater pictures! It looks SO perfect for cozy, Fall vibes. Question abt knots (I'm a naughty knitter who knots-doesn't block). I predominantly knit small items (mitts, baby hats, mittens, scarves, baby blankets). I've never noticed knots BUT when knitting ALWAYS make sure knots is on wrong side)~does that hide knotting? I also use size 6-8 needles & worsted weight acrylic yarn. I just began thinking of sweater /garment knitting & notice needle size is usually smaller & yarn recommended is natural fiber. Just wondering if those attributes will lead to knots showing as you described. Thoughts? Love your pod! Even started looking at spinning wheels! ❤
It can! But sometimes with wear al the stitches get jiggled and it can work its way around to the front. You can probably just push it back into place out of sight tho ❤
Wonder why we can't knit two squares at a time on that cardigan? I have the pattern. Not sure that would work. But then it would be less seaming? It's a big knit- for all the reasons you stated. All the best, Kimberly
Size 2 blocks for the heirloom cardigan are supposed to be 7in wide and 5 1/2in long. The measurements you read are for the size 1 blocks. So if you're knitting a size two, you're gold.
Noro is notorious for having multiple knots in their yarn-pretty sure that's not a batch problem, just a Noro brand yarn problem unfortunately. I think that's what partially makes Noro Yarn so polarizing!
My gosh Kaci, your episodes are so full of such a wide variety of knitting content! Your videos are so beautifully done 🥰 Thank you!
