    Hey Tiaan here, I came 2nd in that 60m. The reason we all ran PRs is because we've all barely run any 60m races.
    I ran a windy 6.58 end of last year, Lachie ran a 6.55 in the rain a couple weeks ago.
    Most of us only ran our first ever 60m last year with the rulew changes to short track. The 6.66 you're comparing my time to was quite literally the first 60m I ever ran in Pamplona last season.
    Also I'd like to point out we all ran quick in the heats to. Me and Lachie both going 6.52 - so not like the clock just glitched out in the final.
    Also you can't argue the track is shorter or something is off in general because then the women would have run equally crazy times right after us - but they didn't. And Zoe was in that race who placed 4th and World Indoors last year. I also raced world indoors last year (my 2nd ever 60m) and you can clearly see me beating Noah lyles to 20m in the heats.

    For everyone 1. Pbs are because Australia doesn't have indoor tracks and most rarely run 60m races 2. The Canberra track is the fastest track here as its hot in summer and 2,000 feet above sea level 3. Tailwind... 4. He ran 10.17 in the 100m into a small headwind so yes he's in great form. So yes it's legitimate but is very different to an indoor sea level performance.

      exactly Duncan. It's different, I would not compare this type of race to an indoor 60m but our athletes need a chance to run these distances seriously until we get indoor tracks .... which will be NEVER

    Things to take into consideration;
    1. 60m events are rarely on offer in Australia (especially at ACT or even State Champs).
    2. ACT Track is always a fast track. Many athletes have their personal bests at this track.
    3. Australian athletics is currently mid season, with most State Championships taking place in January / February. Northern Hemisphere athletes are only starting their indoor campaigns, so the comparison is not accurate.
    4. If you browse the rest of the ACT State Champs results, you will see many athletes with new pb's or significant season bests.
    Oz is staring to produce some great athletes of late...
    This is an IAAF spec track, so for anyone to say the track is short, is just purely ignorant and uneducated.

  • @NattyNoo72
    @NattyNoo72 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I think you missed that he backed it up at (inaugural & outdoor) short track Australian champs in Sydney yesterday - maybe fast is actually fast and not a timer issue.

    Fast track outdoors, near maximum legal tailwind, warm conditions (just past mid-summer here n Australia - ideal for sprinters), almost the peak of the southern hemisphere track season - all these factors may explain the fast times. It's rare to have all the stars aligning at a single point in time.

Heck even I ran an electronic 6.66 in training back when I was at my best. Kennedy went on to run 10.17 in the 100m - against a very fast Azzopardi who has a 10.15 personal best in the 100m.

    How do you not give us a wind adjusted time? Come on man, without that to compare to an indoor race, time seems legit for having a tail wind.

  • @jaredstepp7921

    Outdoor is not the same as indoor. Period. That distinction cannot be overemphasized. Also 60m splits from 100m races are not official in any sense and mean very little. The race is not measured by the first person to a split, but the first person to a finish line. To all of these athletes - Do it indoor in an official race to a 60m finish. Sorry, Su Bingtian's 6.29 SPLIT doesn't count, neither do any of these outdoor numbers. You all are awesome athletes - great work - but, there's more to this.

    In the sport of track and field, a 60m winner is not considered 'the fastest man in the world'. That designation is reserved for the 100m champion, who is currently Noah Lyles. That crown will be worn until September 2025 at the World Championship. These declarations really create confusion to those who don't know the sport. I think people who know the sport have an obligation to hold the integrity of these comments. Come on!!!

    What are you most upset about?
    A) because they are from Australia and New Zealand? Not traditionally fast sprinters
    B) they are white? Lets racially profile them
    C) the wind reading? You can tell there’s very little wind by the bunting and tents not moving
    D) it’s the summer outdoor season? Yeah, we live in a different hemisphere
    E) the distance might be wrong? Standard track, standard track markings… the distance will be officially measured to ensure the Oceania record is ratified
    F) all of the above
    I’m betting it’s B
