Chesney was right, at the end of the day enoughs enough and even the nicest person is gonna blow... she needs to seek help for those anger issues before she does something that really ends their relationship, cos if the kids do get taken into care then they'll be over.

Finally, Chesney telling Gemma the truth. Their children are more mature at times than Gemma is.
But she was right wasn’t she? I am 60 and would feel angry if I had a genuine concern that nobody would listen to.

When you think about real life cases where children get horribly abused and end up dead. This seems like a huge overreaction by social services.
When the doctor was dealing with Joseph, he suspected something wasn't right and raised his concerns with social services which led to Gemma being under investigation.
Gemma storms off because she knows he’s right, she is just making it all worse

The problem is that when Bernie was asked a series of questions about her involvement with Big Garth and the fraud investigation she was previously arrested for, she answered "no comment" to the questions asked by DS Swain and thought she could get away with it. She didn't do herself any favours there.
Now Gemma finally knows the truth and seen how frustrated Chesney is we will see Joseph's grandmother Linda back in again but hopefully not to take him off Chesney as this Gemma's fault

I have been thinking about this storyline quite a lot recently 😮
I'm not a parent myself so feel free to shoot me down in flames
I don't blame social services for intervening.
I really feel for Gemma, because she feels inadequate because she clearly struggles with responsibility for 5 children.
Chesney doesn't help because he works long hours. Understandably tired and bad tempered, he's not blessed with a sense of humour anyway.
He may not mean to undermine Gemmas self-esteem but he seems to keep rubbing the salt in the worned.
If I was Gemma, I would be kicking off the current circumstances surrounding my family in regards to Paul and Bernie😢.
But would also be taking a step back and taking advantage of the present investigation.2
I would be starting to question, if I actually want a future with Chesney.
I see the separation from the children as a well earned break.
It's been a strain on Gemma's mental health for quite some time 😢now,
I know, I wasn't cut out to be a parent.
Although it's a fictional storyline, we do grow to care about characters in soap operas. Especially if they have become popular on our TV 📺 screens over a long time. 😊.

That's what you're assessing about Chesney, and what HE has to endure here. Gemma made a bad situation here, leaving him scrambling to clean it up for her - and does he get a thank you? No, just Gemma putting him down for lying to the social worker.
I won't pretend to know what it's like to have to raise five kids, but that's their reality - and no, Gemma doesn't get to "have a break" because it's hard.
I won't give an obvious answer. If you find me out of touch with insights and miss guided empathy, doesn't fit in with community ethics, fair enough.

i don't know why people walk into grief with their eyes wide open and then complain about it. He knew Gemma was a loud mouthed scally petty criminal with barely any morals before he even got her pregnant, never mind married her. so why is he kicking off now?

He said it all, right there. It's something you can see in just about every other movie, or TV show. That one character who keeps a leveled head, while everyone else gets to make all of the screw ups they want, and then put it on that one responsible person to fix it for them, and damn them if they complain, or try to get the screw ups to take some responsibility for themselves.
