Fiona is one of the best artists of her time, possibly the very best. Authenticity and rare songwriting ability, as well as her impressive vocal expressions set her way apart from those big seller musicians.
@@sugma148 I love that song as well... the beautiful thing about music is that it's open to your interpretation. The song is about two people that came from love. How the love is broken, the trust is gone. There's pain, a loss of identify and self hate in the result of the trauma or break up. It's very fitting when you think of it that way.
@@KCRUBYWOOI keep coming back to your comment and when I first heard this song I thought about the SA I endured from an elderly family member too. It’s so relatable even if she didn’t write it about that topic originally. Sending u lots of love

What you did to me made me See myself something different Though I try to talk sense to myself But I just won't listen Won't you go away Turned yourself in You're no good at confession Before the image that you burned me in Tries to teach you a lesson What you did to me made me see myself somethin' awful A voice once stentorian is now again meek and muffled It took me such a long time to get back up the first time you did it I spent all I had to get it back, and now it seems I've been outbidded My peace and quiet was stolen from me When I was looking with calm affection You were searching out my imperfections What wasted unconditional love On somebody Who doesn't believe in this stuff You came up on me like a hypnic jerk When I was just about settled And when it counts you recoil With the cryptic word you even love belittling Oh what a cold and common old way to go I was feeding on the need for you to know me Devastated at the rate you feel below me What wasted unconditional love On somebody Who doesn't believe in this life Oh, well
"What wasted unconditional love..." is just one of those lines that sticks with you forever once you've heard it.
The feelings are real
"When I was looking with calm affection, you were searching out my imperfections"
Thank you, Fiona.
Exactly. My favorite line. Oh well...
“My peace and quiet was STOLEN from me…”
I lived every lyric of this song... love Fiona so much! So underrated
Me too
I am living it
“A voice once stentorian is now again meek and muffled.” Ugh just perfection

That smile at the end is the best...
She's like "yeah you liked that didn't you, I f'ing naked it"
She always plays on the more lower of the piano she’s amazing
a true force of nature!!!!
This has been my favorite song off of her album. It touches home after dealing with SA from a close elder. The lyrics are felt thoroughly.
I think Sullen Girl might suit you better…this song is about being cheated on

MY PEACE AND QUIET WAS STOLEN FROM ME
Oh gosh I love her, her lyrics she’s amazing and so passionate
powerful and passionate
" On somebody, who doesn't believe in the stuff..."
Phenomenal, beautiful, amazing… all the great words!
Mi favorita de su excelente álbum.." Extraordinary machine " que nostalgia 15 años después .
What you did to me made me
See myself something different
Though I try to talk sense to myself
But I just won't listen
Won't you go away
Turned yourself in
You're no good at confession
Before the image that you burned me in
Tries to teach you a lesson
What you did to me made me see myself somethin' awful
A voice once stentorian is now again meek and muffled
It took me such a long time to get back up the first time you did it
I spent all I had to get it back, and now it seems I've been outbidded
My peace and quiet was stolen from me
When I was looking with calm affection
You were searching out my imperfections
What wasted unconditional love
On somebody
Who doesn't believe in this stuff
You came up on me like a hypnic jerk
When I was just about settled
And when it counts you recoil
With the cryptic word you even love belittling
Oh what a cold and common old way to go
I was feeding on the need for you to know me
Devastated at the rate you feel below me
What wasted unconditional love
On somebody
Who doesn't believe in this life
Oh, well
Brilliant masterpiece! Powerfully blunt...love it ❤️
