What absolutely amazing orchestration! The aural equivalent of standing in a hall of mirrors, especially Reisefieber und Waltzerszene. Traumerei (9:50) is almost transcendent in its beauty.....

I enjoyed what You had to say and how You said it! I'm a bass player and my 1st teacher Loved Richard Stausses music . He was a member of the Minnesota Orchestra years ago. Arthur Gold was his name.

@@davidmaslow399 Thank you! Yes, I'm a bit of a sucker for hyper-chromaticism. Franz Schmidt's 3rd Symphony and Joseph Marx's lush orchestral works also appeal to me as well.Zemlinsky and Korngold too.

When you are listening to R. Strauss, there arouses a magnifiscent impression of elaborated humanised sounds which proyects you into heaven. Here is an example of it !

Strauss said something really interesting just before dying. something to the effect that if he could only have captured what he was hearing at that moment, it would have rivalled anything he had ever composed.

@@jennifs6868 Well, Strauss was keen upon being in danger of dying: His best example was "Tod und Verklärung" . . . His operas "Salome" "Die Frau ohne Schatten" , also magnified death to "openhearted experiences" for the listener ... Pity though, coreaographers are actually too oversexed to understand Strauss (idiots!)...
