I’m making this for my best friend because she recently lost her “pinky” or her blanket that she loves. I feel that it’s going to be a great gift! Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I started crochet specifically so I could make blankets, since they help with sleeping more than a duvet, and this is the most clear tutorial I've seen! My mum had 3 balls of Bernard blanket wool that she wanted to use but ended up not being able to work with, so this is perfect!

Wow Dianne, you sure know how to make a girl smile. Thank you for your kind words and Congratulation on your first grandson. Good Luck with your blanket, let me know if you have any questions :-)
I found this project in 2018 when I was busy going back to school and craving something to do with my hands that wasn’t food or phone. Life got crazy, and I didn’t start this project until now (January 2019), but I am so glad to be working on it now. I just started my 7th row. I really enjoy making progress on this project and seeing it become a real thing! What a great beginner crochet project! Thank you!
You are the best instructor!!! I am a beginner and you explain, go slowly and you show your work several times. Thank you for being an awesome instructor
Thank you so much for this video. It is the first one I could actually follow and it all made sense. You are very patient and respectful to us newbies and I really love the blanket. Hope you make more videos.
Michael Moore you can use any size yarn but make sure your hook size goes with the yarn you choose. Or if you use a lighter weight yarn, you can work two strands at once and use the same size hook. I hope that makes sense💚
Thank you so much for these videos. I wanted to learn how to crochet for years. So last month I bought yarn and a large hook and I decided to learn. I was on a visit to my family in Omaha, Nebraska and I asked my 80+ year old Grandmother to teach me. She is so fast and I learn slower than she teaches. So if you want to learn anything go to TH-cam. I came across several videos but was drawn to the channel with the picture of hands (that looked like mine) and yarn and needle (that also looked like mine) doing the project that I wanted to try as my first attempt. I can say that between you and my Grams, I have learned to do basic stitches and have become good enough to do what I want to do with my yarn and hooks. And as a result; my Grandmother(who hasn't crocheted in years) has started again. The best advice you gave was "Don't give up on your first row. It gets a little frustrating but it gets so much easier as you start working your project." Thanks so much for sharing your talent and time with us. Many blessings!
This has to be one of the most nicest comments. Thank you so much for taking the time to compliment me on something I really enjoy doing. I'm glad I was able to help, along with the grams :-). Good luck with your future projects. 🙂🙂🙂😘
You are so very welcome. My blanket went WONKY to say the least but I refuse to start over. I am going to complete it and let it be my testimony blanket. I'll use it to show that if you stick with it, you can and will get better! Now my 11 year old daughter is learning as well. We are referring to your channel for instruction. She is left handed and it is hard for me to translate what I see into what she should do as a lefty. So what we are doing is literally going step, pause video, step, pause video, rewind repeat. She had only been at it a few days and wanted to stop. I told her the same thing I learned in your video, "Don't give up on your first row!" Thanks for the encouragement.
I agree with a comment below you have a very calming voice and very clear instructions. my granny taught me to crochet a some when i was little but haven't in so long. i want to get back into it and make some gifts. i have a chronic illness and cannot work anymore so i need to find crafts and volunteer to keep me busy. thank you !!
Awww. Thank you for taking the time to share such kind words. I really do appreciated it. I hope you can pick back up the craft. Crocheting really is relaxing once you get your groove. Many blessing to you! Thanks
thank you so much for the best tutorial. I haven't crocheted before and I am a knitter. I want to crochet a blanket and I think I will try this one. Thanks so much for your kindness.
So happy to see that black Women crochet! I absolutely love ❤️ your example! I hit That subscribe button ASAP! I just started yesterday & I would like to make a blanket & it’s so exciting seeing someone explain it so beautifully!
I agree. I'm a geek and into drawing and arts and crafts including horsr back riding. I only find myself frustrated that I don't see enough of my female peers choosing to lead a creative lifestyle and anything that's not classified as a stereotype as a woman of color. I get alienated a lot for what I love since a kid. I just hope for change. I'm not apart of the norm but a brand new generation.
I dont understand what colour has to do with it..you're either interested/gifted/tryer or not. This is whats wrong with the world people labelling/assuming. Ethnic groups are just as talented as any other race. I'm not saying you're not being supportive just feel it was an inappropriate comment with no foundation. Peace
i have always wanted to crochet a blanket so i looked up how to do it and i saw some you-tubers do it but they had already made what i was looking for and did not teach me very well. None of them were helpful except you. you are the best teacher for crocheting!!! Now i know how to crochet a blanket. Thanks to you!!
I absolutely LOVE your video. First off, your voice is so calming. Thank you for that. ❤️😍 and secondly you are just awesome! I love how you describe everything so as to make it so pleasant and easy to follow along. Thank you sooooo much. Just love you!! ❤️😘
AhSel Anne my mom was looking for a blanket because she doesn’t feel good currently (we couldn’t find any blankets) so I made a blanket with this tutorial thanks!
you have a lovely smile. Thank you, so much for this tutorial, I actually feel as a beginner that I can do this and I cant wait to try. Greetings from the UK. xxx
thank you so much for taking your stitches slowly, fur using larger hooks and yarn, and for your patience. I was able to follow this so much easier then others.
Thank you for making this video! You are the only person who has CLEARLY and SIMPLY explained the 1/2DC and it GREATLY appreciated!!!! I am so excited to work on my blanket. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Thank you! I have been looking for someone to show me how to crochet after I have not done any for years but it felt like all the videos I was finding expected me to be able to guess bits. You seem to remember how confusing it is when you don't really know what you are doing and you are not talking down to me (something I am allergic to :) ) Cannot wait to get my yarn
Thank you for posting this video. I’m going to make my seventh grandbaby a blanket. Then I’ll make blankets for my other six grandchildren. This is a quick easy blanket to make. God Bless and thank you again.
Great tutorial! But the real reason I clicked is because the person in the thumbnail looked soooo cozy in the blanket that I thought to myself "That dude looks cozy. I want to be cozy too". :D
You are an excellent teacher! Easy to follow and just a pleasure to listen to you! Looking forward to crocheting my first blanket! At 67 years old it's about time I learn to crochet! Thank you so much!
I vote your tutorial Best of Teaching2 I have tried and tried and yours is the only video that doesn't make me feel foolish for not getting the first time and your patient voice is so calming. Thanks I finally got it!
This was an awesome teaching video. I am a beginner at crocheting. This taught me everything so easily that I created a baby blanket in just 2 days for my daughter. I am so happy with the results. Thank you.
This is an excellent video!!!! I've been wanting to try and crochet a blanket, and this is a very good video!!! Your voice is very lovely too! Thank you for sharing!!!
AhSel Anne yes! I've always wanted to do this, but was intimidated by it. It looked complicated, but I see now how simple it can be. I'm so glad I found your video! :)
Hi wow I never thought I could do this but after viewing many video I made not one but two blankets thank you so much for all the patient to show us how to make these beautiful blankets you are GREAT GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS
how did you get all three colors mixed in? the blanket you show that's finished looks completely different with 3 colors. can you make a video to show how you did that blanket?
Hi! The yarn that I used to create this project is the Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn called Little Royals. It's a variate yarn so as you crochet it changes color. ! You can purchase at Joanne's or Micheals or even amazon.com... below is a link. Let me know if you have any additional questions :-). Thanks for watching amzn.to/2fX1Ja8 .
Thank you so much for sharing a super easy video for absolute beginners like me to learn from. Very easy to follow along. I am attempting to make this blanket. I will keep you posted on my progress. ❤
I think I'm doing something wrong 😱 I'm using a 15.75mm and the blanket is tight. Like no holes at all. Am I making it too tight or am I working through the wrong lines? I wish I could post pics in here lol
Hey Stephany...it sounds like you are making your chains really tight. Do you use Instagram? You can send me a direct message, with a picture so I can see what you have going on :-).This is a link to my Instagram page instagram.com/leshantionette33/ . There's also a link on my main youtube page. Also please take a look at the pink blanket on my channel I use a larger hook (16mm) and it will give you an example of what your blanket should look like... :-) th-cam.com/video/07q-Hede_cY/w-d-xo.html
I echo the sentiments of everyone else. This is an excellent video. As a beginner, I'm able to follow your work easily. I can tell you are a patient person. Thank You for taking the time to give us "newbies" instructions. God Bless You.
I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I just got yarn yesterday and last night got a cheap hook until my Amazon order comes today, and by watching your video... I'M ACTUALLY DOING THIS!!! I'm making a freaking blanket! Out of a ball of yarn! 🤯🤯🤯 You are teaching me a way to make money on the road which is what I've been looking for! I'm eternally grateful 💜💜💜
This is such a nice and thoughtful comment, I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me this. I'm really glad this video could help you. I love making this blanket. I've made it at least a half of dozen times. Good look with your business venture 💜💜🙂
@@AhselAnneCrochet I wish I could share a pic with you, I have used 3 rolls of the 10.5 Bernat Blanket and plan on putting another 3 on it, this thing is massive! And it's all because you decided to share what you've learned. I appreciate you more than you know 💜
I've made this pattern three times! I love it. Most everyone thinks it is so great and yet this is simple because you made it simple! I really have no idea why anyone would give you a thumbs down! This is great. Simply done and easy to follow!
First time here and never croquet before, well when I was a little girl I did but long forgotten, I’ve been watching this video along with many others ready to start my first blanket for my unborn son next week so thank u so much for sharing this lesson as I can’t seem to grasp others videos. Lovely calming voice and so inventive patience is a virtue so thank you 🙌🏻💗
Thank you so much. I have a learning disability so it's hard for me to learn things. You made it easy plus you left time for me to pause and you go slow enough for me. I don't have the usual frustrations or wanting to give up with this post. You explain what a stitch or yarn over is.
Turns out that I missed a part of the video and that is why my first blanket's edges are a bit wavy. My new blanket, for my son is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I wish I could show you because I can't thank you enough for my new hobby!!!! Thanks again!
I loved watching your channel. I have been crocheting for close to 60 years and always looking for new patterns. You describe everything so easily. Thank you! I have subscribed to your channel now for more updates. 🫶🏻🙌🏻❤️
Thank you, thank you. I'm about to be a mom-mom, want to make a blanket for my grand. This was so easy to follow. Thank you again... I'll post a picture once I'm done.
I must begin by saying thank you for this video. I have watched many videos for beginners that were too fast for a "beginner" so I turned them off and stumbled across your video, which is perfect for beginners. Slow enough for you to follow along with. I love your video ! Thank you again
Thank you so so much for getting me hooked back crocheting once again. The last time I started crocheting was when i was just 15 years old. I just love it. It helps me with my depression and anxiety. It puts a stop to my bad moods and crying all the time. Crocheting is a fantastic way to relieve illness. thank you again. your tutorials are the easiest on youtube.
Thank you very much Gary! I really appreciate your comment and I agree, crocheting is a great way to release stress and create project that can not only brighten your day, as the creator, but also the day of the person you gift a project to. 🙂
Thankyou so much for being so thorough and slow!! It is so difficult to watch when teachers go so fast and I really got this video and was able to understand and keep up!!
I tried to learn how to crochet a year ago and was so frustrated I didn't touch a crochet hook until today after watching your video. Thank you so much. You were so patient and you explained and showed the steps so well. Im making a trial dish cloth and then moving on from there. Thank you for such a great tutorial.
Thank YOU so much for your patience, humor and encouragement I am just starting row 3 but I am excited and hopeful with your videos and well thought out direction - I will actually learn how to crochet and complete a blanket (& hopefully more 😉)
Thank you! I've been crocheting for about a year now. Yours was one of the first videos I watched. Hundreds of videos later, I still make my slip knot like you showed me. So easy!! Cute blanket!
This is a great learning video. For beginners, remember starting any project is the most fiddily and frustrating part of the project. I’ve been doing it for two years now and it is still the hardest part of a project.
I agree! Starting can be the worst part especially when you are new because it never looks like what other people are doing. If beginners just remember to not give up they will be happy with the end result.
You are a blessing. I learned how to crochet in high school and forget how to do certain stitches. I just made a headband using the hdc. I see after watching you where I went wrong. You explained this so beautifully. I'm expecting my first grandbaby and I wanted to make a blanket. You have given me the motivation to do it now. Thank you for this video. I will definitely be watching you from this point on.
Thank you! I wish ya'll knew how much your kind words mean to me. Thank you for taking the time to let me know., I'm so glad I can help! Congratulation on you're first grandbaby, how exciting! Many blessing to you and your family! Oh, and good luck with your blanket💚😊
For years I've wanted to learn how to crochet but being a college student i found it really difficult to practice crocheting and get my class work done. Fast forward to now i am a college graduate and finally have the time to learn. I remembered that i watched your video a few years back and i really loved your explanation of things so i searched my history and i found your video again and i am SO HAPPY!!!! I am finally getting it and i can't thank you enough for having such a great tutorial. ❤❤❤
I made one of my first blankets in college and I said the same thing as you. My friends said I had an old soul because I wanted to learn how to crochet and knit🙂I learned in college but picked it up more once I graduated and had more time to really enjoy it. I love it now and I'm so glad I learned. Thank you for remembering me...Good Luck with your blanket. TIP: Remember to count your stitches as you go along for the first few rows and then every so often throughout the project. Don't give up and if all else fails you can always add a border to mask any imperfections. 💚🙂.
I've always wanted to learn to crochet specifically to make blankets but all the videos I've ever watched were so confusing & I never tried. Now that I found your video & watched it I plan on buying what I need to start making blankets for my son's. It will be my form of calming therapy for myself as I have two boy's that are special needs and daily life can not only be challenging but frustrating for me and I'm working on gaining back patience and staying calm. I know both my boy's will love their blankets once I complete them. Thank you so much for being a much needed helpful inspiration.🙂
Awe...I'm glad I can help. Keep going passed the first and second row. Those can be the most challenging...but once you get started you can definitely get it. Check out this video too th-cam.com/video/07q-Hede_cY/w-d-xo.html. It's the same stitch Half Double Crochet but I think it's a little clearer. I used a larger crochet hook but the instruction are the same. Blessing to you and your family. Good luck with your crocheting🙂
Thank you so much. You are such a patient teacher. I really like how you repeat the stitch several times instead of once or maybe twice like some videos I've seen. I've been crocheting off and on for years but never felt like I've passed the novice stage so any instruction like this is very helpful for me. My biggest problem is tension. As I'm starting my chain and working on a project I've noticed it getting tighter and tighter even if I use larger hooks. I know it just takes practice but I often get frustrated and undo my work and have to start over. Thanks again for such a great video.
Thanks! Yay getting the right tension can be the most frustrating part of a project. I started by making smaller projects like scarfs and such to get me used to tension. Since the rows are shorter I didn't feel too frustrated when I had to start over. I know you've been crocheting for a while but check out this chain scarf tutorial, you do the same stitch the whole way through and you really get comfortable with tension AND you end up with a cool infinity scarf in the end..th-cam.com/video/TohTAQfpPM8/w-d-xo.html :-) Keep at it and good luck!
Thank you!! If my mother and grandmother were as patient as you, I may have learned to crochet 40 years ago! This was so helpful.
Haha...cute. I'm glad I can help. 🙂💚

Thank you so much for this video. It is the first one I could actually follow and it all made sense. You are very patient and respectful to us newbies and I really love the blanket. Hope you make more videos.
Thank you. I'm glad I could help!
Very nice
Thanks for a really great tutorial which shows closeup of your stitch working, and repeating steps slowly for we beginners!! Thanks so much!!
Hi Sharon! Thanks for watching.
AhSel Anne
@@AhselAnneCrochet I can use any size yarn correct? I dont like bulky yarn
I told her the same thing I learned in your video, "Don't give up on your first row!"
Thanks for the encouragement.
Thanks Jennifer! Let me know if you have any questions.

So happy to see that black Women crochet! I absolutely love ❤️ your example! I hit That subscribe button ASAP! I just started yesterday & I would like to make a blanket & it’s so exciting seeing someone explain it so beautifully!
Awe Thank You!!! I love diversity in crafting too...ha. Good Luck with your blanket. Let me know if you need any additional help :-)
@@SephirothWaifu maybe you're not choosing diverse environments. A lot of Black women craft.
I dont understand what colour has to do with it..you're either interested/gifted/tryer or not. This is whats wrong with the world people labelling/assuming. Ethnic groups are just as talented as any other race. I'm not saying you're not being supportive just feel it was an inappropriate comment with no foundation. Peace
you black girl
You are an excellent instructor! Soft spoken, clear and concise instructions that are perfect for a beginner! Great Job!
Thank you Rose!
i have always wanted to crochet a blanket so i looked up how to do it and i saw some you-tubers do it but they had already made what i was looking for and did not teach me very well. None of them were helpful except you. you are the best teacher for crocheting!!! Now i know how to crochet a blanket. Thanks to you!!
Wow...thank you for the compliment. I'm glad I was able to help. Thanks!
Thank you so much for taking the time to show me your techniques. I can't wait to make my own blankets, etc..

Greetings from the UK. xxx
Thank you. I think you can do it too. Just don't give up. After your first 2 rows it becomes smooth sailing. 🙂
thank you so much for taking your stitches slowly, fur using larger hooks and yarn, and for your patience. I was able to follow this so much easier then others.
Cool! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for making this video! You are the only person who has CLEARLY and SIMPLY explained the 1/2DC and it GREATLY appreciated!!!! I am so excited to work on my blanket. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Thank you so much Teresa! I appreciate your kind words.
Thanks, this is such good feedback. Good luck with picking it back up :-)
I love this video! well done! I'm having a problem getting my ends to even out but I'm hoping a third time is a charm! thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! I hope you were able to get your ends straight :-)
I LOVE ❤️ your hair! It is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!

Thank you for posting this video. I’m going to make my seventh grandbaby a blanket. Then I’ll make blankets for my other six grandchildren. This is a quick easy blanket to make. God Bless and thank you again.

Just went to Joann’s after watching this and the bernat baby blanket yarn is on sale and today only 7/23/18 there is an additional 20% off coupon!!!!
Great tutorial! But the real reason I clicked is because the person in the thumbnail looked soooo cozy in the blanket that I thought to myself "That dude looks cozy. I want to be cozy too". :D
Michelle Ng... hahaha. Yes he loves his blanket. lol
Michelle Ng dude?
Hahahaaa, I thought the same and that's why I chose to watch this video. So glad I did 👍

You are an excellent teacher! Easy to follow and just a pleasure to listen to you! Looking forward to crocheting my first blanket! At 67 years old it's about time I learn to crochet! Thank you so much!

thanks for the helpful video. how big of a blanket does this make? a twin, double, queen?
Hi April, this is more like a throw so it measure 47x48ish.

Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Good luck with your blanket!
Thanks for talking responding to me I felt really 😁🤞thanks
how did you get all three colors mixed in? the blanket you show that's finished looks completely different with 3 colors. can you make a video to show how you did that blanket?
Thanks for watching

Thank you so much for sharing a super easy video for absolute beginners like me to learn from. Very easy to follow along. I am attempting to make this blanket. I will keep you posted on my progress. ❤

hi love ur video, do u have a poncho video? God Bless
No, not yet. Hopefully sooner than later.
Lol

Okay
Aww thank you! I'm thankful for the thumbs down too. My kids say... I'm good enough to be hated on...haha. Thanks again for watching :-)
First time here and never croquet before, well when I was a little girl I did but long forgotten, I’ve been watching this video along with many others ready to start my first blanket for my unborn son next week so thank u so much for sharing this lesson as I can’t seem to grasp others videos. Lovely calming voice and so inventive patience is a virtue so thank you 🙌🏻💗
Awww thank you. Congrats on the new Baby. Many Blessing to you and your family!
Thank you so much. I have a learning disability so it's hard for me to learn things. You made it easy plus you left time for me to pause and you go slow enough for me. I don't have the usual frustrations or wanting to give up with this post. You explain what a stitch or yarn over is.
Awe. Thank you! I'm glad I could help🙂
This made a good high school grad gift for my sister in law. Thank you!!!
You are so welcome! Thank you!💚
Turns out that I missed a part of the video and that is why my first blanket's edges are a bit wavy. My new blanket, for my son is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I wish I could show you because I can't thank you enough for my new hobby!!!! Thanks again!
AWESOME!!! I love reading about these types of results. Thanks for watching I'm glad I can help!

Your video is the first one that actually made things click for me! Thank you for your clear explanations.
Cool Beans! Thanks!
My sister used your directions, very recently, for her baby blanket and it came out perfect!! 😃😃 Very simple for a very pregnant woman!
Haha...very pregnant woman...lol I'm glad her blanket turned out great congratulation to your sister and to you auntie on the new baby💚🙂
Thank you, thank you. I'm about to be a mom-mom, want to make a blanket for my grand. This was so easy to follow. Thank you again... I'll post a picture once I'm done.
Congratulations mom-mom (cute name). I can't wait to see your pictures.
My daughter and I used your video to start our adventure in crocheting blankets! Very informative! Thank you!!❤
So Cool! I wish I could get my daughter into crocheting. She just ask me to make her stuff haha.
I must begin by saying thank you for this video. I have watched many videos for beginners that were too fast for a "beginner" so I turned them off and stumbled across your video, which is perfect for beginners. Slow enough for you to follow along with. I love your video ! Thank you again
Thank you. I'm glad I could help. Good Luck with your blanket!
Your wonderful! Finally someone that teaches beginners so I can understand!!! Love you !
I'm glad I could help! Good Luck with your blanket.
AWESOME! Thank you :-).
I tried to learn how to crochet a year ago and was so frustrated I didn't touch a crochet hook until today after watching your video. Thank you so much. You were so patient and you explained and showed the steps so well. Im making a trial dish cloth and then moving on from there. Thank you for such a great tutorial.
Thank you for your kind words. Good luck with your dish cloth. I have a video on that too. I hope it can help :-).
I made this for my granddaughter and she loves it now I got to make another for my other granddaughter it was very easy and your a great teacher
Thank YOU so much for your patience, humor and encouragement I am just starting row 3 but I am excited and hopeful with your videos and well thought out direction - I will actually learn how to crochet and complete a blanket (& hopefully more 😉)
Thank you for your help and the pattern. I've been crocheting for a while but my blankets never turn out. Now I know why! You are a great teacher!
Thank you! I've been crocheting for about a year now. Yours was one of the first videos I watched. Hundreds of videos later, I still make my slip knot like you showed me. So easy!! Cute blanket!
Aww...well thank you, your comment really made me smile. Thanks for watching and I'm so glad I could help.
This is the clearest, best tutorial I've seen yet! You don't rush and are so easy to understand. Thank you so much!
Thanks Susan!
