Wow Peter, what an experience. We hiked the trail in 2018 and I followed the news of the wildfire last year. Hopefully, you'll be back soon, but I think you still saw most of the best sections!
It's unfortunate that your trek ended that way, but you did get at least to the lake house Innajuattoq, it's my favourite place on this trail. The location is incredibly scenic and the hut is large and comfortable. I hope you can do it again with better luck some day. If you don't mind me asking, did they charge you for the evacuation by helicopter? If so, did you have insurance?
Thanks for a wonderful video. I'm so sad to hear about the fire... hope the damage wasn't catastrophic... I hiked the route, with a few variations at the beginning from Kangerlussuaq, a few years ago.. lots of memories. Definitely want to do it again too!

Thanks. I'm planning to return one day and maybe do a "lightning" trek from the other direction. Go super light and fats as possible :D
May I ask what the evac procedure was? ie, were you carrying a safety beacon like a Garmin In Reach or something like that??
Yes. I had a SPOT Satellite Phone so hit the red button which pings your position. After around an hour I was evacuated by helicopter
