  • In the 1950s, thousands of fast, affordable Yellow Jacket boats were skimming across the water - all coming from the McDerby-Conatser Boat Company of Denison, TX.

Thanks for uploading this video. My family was involved with the Yellow Jacket boats and when they ceased in 1959 one of my great uncles (E. E. Gaines) started the Stinger Boat Company to continue these great boats.

We had a Yellow Jacket boat when I was a little kid. It had a HUGE 50 HP motor!

I remember yellow jacket boats so well.
They were the Cadillac of sporty boats.
They were so pretty and sleek.
I also remember the advertising with Roy Roger's as a kid..
    This is so cool.
I wish I had a Yellow Jacket boat.
I am a trained marine mechanic..
Maybe one day I'll get a shot at one.

Great video. My uncle had a Yellow Jacket boat that he bought for my aunt on their anniversary. The boat had hearts inlaid on the mahogany bow. I've often wondered what happened to it.

Funny story. My grandfather had a '56 Yellow Jacket with a 33 HP Scott-Atwater. I remember dad borrowed it once and the steering was rigged backward.

Love this story! Moved to Denison as a young child in 1961 but didn’t know about the Yellow Jacket boats.

Another great TCR! The piano theme music during the closing narration still makes the screen misty.

I had a beautiful 18-foot mahogany Cadillac inboard-motor ski boat named Whirlaway. It sat under trees instead of in water because I moved from the coast to far inland. Whirlaway deteriorated badly and I lost track of it because of a painful divorce. I can still hear the roar if I listen hard enough. ❣

Wish they would replay the Eyes Of Texas episodes from back in the 70's
