This to me is the epitome of Jinger. Heavy groove metal with a beautiful vocalist. Vortex or maybe Perennial was my favorite track prior, but this one here is heaven.
Don't let other folks' dismissal of music annoy you fella.... you'll give yourself a long angry life for no real reason! ;) I got into Jinjer initially *despite* the extreme vocals. It's their *composition* that's super impressive to me. Especially since Vlad joined.... maybe having a drummer who's a classically trained pianist to trade helps orchestrate the talents of all 4 of them!! #RachmaninovMetal LOL And Tatiana doesn't get enough appreciation for what she does. She's handed a finished demo of each song by the lads, from which she has to decide on a theme, write up the lyrics she's feeling in Russian, translate to English, fettle these into rhyming poetry with syllables to fit each measure, create lead & harmony vocal lines for the cleans, decide where to growl, where to scream etc to suit each passage.... I'm fcuking exhausted just typing this out!! LOL :)
You mentioned "Vortex", this song reminds me of that , and "Wallflowers", with the amount of cleans to start before getting to the harsh. Video description says that this is "only just a tease of what’s to come very soon". Heard the new album is finished, looking forward to that. Tatiana is portraying women in history. Where you said that you thought it was Game of Thrones, she is representing Joan of Arc. Others are Cleopatra, Marie Curie, and the painter I've seen commented as either Frida Kahlo or Georgia O'Keeffe.
At first, I wasn't feeling the vocal melodies of this song. But over the last several days, I've found the melodies replaying in my imagination, and I'm enjoying the song more and more. I've enjoyed the instrumentals from the start, particularly the smooth groove section starting at 1:48 of the OMV, and the "battering ram" groove starting at 2:56. My experience with my wife is similar to your experience with your girlfriend - she has very limited patience to explore new music. I've tried to share my love of Jinjer with her, but she'll have none of it. That's OK though, because it takes all kinds. Plus, this way, when Jinjer's in town, I get a night out on my own! ;o)
It varies. Some people who have never heard it love it. You just never know until they hear it. They did use a GOT reference but the character she is playing there is Joan of Arc and others are other women in history who took on traditionally male roles. All of them someone's daughter but who became more.
The way you talk about JINJER is how I feel about Spiritbox! Love them! Their music hits the perfect note in me and they are my favorite band now and as far as vocals, especially clean I prefer Courtney's but I see myself listening to these guys now too! 🤘
why don't you listen to the whole song? by the way, i'm also a musician and have been wondering for decades why so many people have such limited taste in music............ warm greetings from germany & for your almost ;-) reaction............on a world class band!
Cleopatra, Marie Curie, joan of arc, Frida kahlo
