- Meet Kavitha Mishra, a computer engineer turned sandalwood farmer from Karnataka. She has transformed her 8-acre ancestral farm from barren rock to a lush landscape, where sandalwood grows intercropped with mango, desi cows graze among beehives, and sustainable farming practices meet profit for the small farmer.
Kavitha grows sandalwood in an integrated farming system, which combines agriculture, horticulture, tree-based agriculture, and animal husbandry. This system provides the farmer with a short-term (3-6 months), medium-term (1-3 years), and long-term (15 years) income, making both the soil and the farmer rich.

With all due respect to Kavitha Ji, what I wonder is, I don't get even a single coconut that falls in my 1.5 acre land, and how will we protect Sandal wood in such situation? Question is of security.
Because of lack of awareness. Being a farmer require effort and time and dedication. You have to keep a watch . Growing trees isn’t sufficient , we need to take care of them like infant babies and keep a regular watch .
Apart from these we need camera installations and fighter dogs once the threes reach 10 years of age .
All these included will give an excellent output provided you have sustained dedication to grow the crop for 15 years

True. Unfirtunately, i'm a full-time software engineer in a senior role. My farm is 6KM away from where I live now. But my office location 500KM away from here. I know that I can install camera and other sensors to detect intrusion. There are always ways to circumvent the camera security. May be if you have lot of acres and have many staff to look after and guard the farm, you may grow anything. I just said it's difficult for people like me with just couple of acres in remote location.

As a farmer's son I really proud of her for her work. I love this video because my father leave agriculture for his financial problems. Almost 20 years till now he didn't do forming, my age is 24 think about that. thank for wonderful speech mam
your father did right thing. look brother farming now a days is just like gambling and playing cards. every one will not win here winning chances are 1 percentage only. please don't even think of farming.

Just the right approach makes such a significant difference in farmers livelihood. When we stay with ancestral wisdom and their heritage, we do not lose as much as we do when we step away. The biggest thing we lose is peace. I often asked my parents why they never kept the ancestral small farm/ horticulture land they owned. Everybody just wanted to move to the city for a fast life once and now people want to return.

Mam, first one i bow to you mam, Amazing what a knowledge and efforts .. inspired me as i m your community mam, doing farming 10 acres paddy cultivation yearly 2 yields mam, me too same as you said. Convent study but after married in traditional family and then after my husband death, at the age of 38 i took my family farming farming till now doing it as well manner, my son also now got interested. Mam really good and you are my inspiration mam.
