I have so much respect for this dude!! He fought every top guy and held is own against them all! Bro!!

I had him winning against both Thurman and Spence but you know how these judges are.
I was roommates with this guy in Colorado at the US Championships in 2006 when he was 18. Saw him lose to Daniel Jacob's on points but dropped him. You could see the greatness and focus on this guy. Also the humility in he and his Dad. End up cutting he and his Dad hair. Great experience. So many that are currently fighting was there.

I think the difference between the Errol who fought Porter and the Errol who fought Ugas was focus. Porter fought an unfocused Errol Spence and Ugas didn't have that luxury.
Shawn hit it on the nail when he said Spence changed his fight up to fight his style and most people don’t understand that. That’s why it was so close, if Errol would’ve stuck to his style I don’t it would’ve been a Porter - Crawford fight..

What porter was not go beat errol plus errol was not on his A game and still won . He is a different person and he dominated most of his opponents Bud fought Kell brook after errol broke his other eye after ggg did it. Spence was serving porter .
Boy stop porter got washed by brook and ugas the same guys that got broken orbital bones within 8 rounds of fighting spence. This the same porter that gave ugas 6 rounds hes always had a bias towards spence especially all the times spence called him a ducker, took his strap fughting him at his pwn style which spence said he was gonna do months before the fight, then basically sonned him infront of everyone in the post fight conference.

Wise commentary by Shawn Porter, he speaks well for someone who's been through so much in the ring. I liked his point about Spence trying to prove he could beat him at his own game, vs. Crawford who was the opposite. I couldn't understand how Spence justified his fight strategy against Porter because it played into Porter's hands, but at least Porter makes it clear that it was intentional on Spence's part. Spence absolutely must fight to HIS strengths against Crawford, and try to work around Crawford's strengths to have his best chance at pulling off a win.
But Spence did beat him a his own game...

In the case of Spence/Porter, Spence gambled and won because he was able to show that he was stronger than Porter, so Porter could not force him into a plan B. Against an elite fighter like Crawford, Spence cannot afford to gamble with strategy. A classic example of losing due to trying to beat someone at their own game was Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Roberto Duran 1.

@Cedric James - I like both fighters but somebody will have to lose. I do agree that Porter is a closet hater sometimes. I am concerned that Spence's punishing style might be too much for Crawford though. I am still trying to figure out how he's going to keep Spence off of him. I recall little Gamboa stunning the larger Crawford with a quick perfectly timed right hook when he had his hands down and Crawford's legs wobbled very obviously, but I don't think Gamboa realized he had him hurt and Crawford was allowed to recover. If Spence tagged him like that the story would have ended differently. Crawford can punch too though, and he might be able to evade Spences attacks, so I'm not underestimating him.
@Cedric James Man you dum dum Errols3xuals always talk about that ONE second Bud was stunned by Gamboa, but forget all the times Spence was hurt or wobbled. Ugas had him so rocked he was looking at the crowd and talking about mouthpieces and referees, Danny stunned him twice, Castano in the amateurs beat him and gave him 2 standing 8 counts with headgear on and pillowgloves, and it was so bad that Spence denies it ever happening because he has memory loss from it 🤣😅😂
The worst one is Emmanuel Lartey who had him rocked so bad at the end of rd7 that he spent round 8 hugging, holding and running. The killer instinct was gone and he became timid as hell. If Bud was so embarassed by Lartey he would have pounded him into dust in rd8, you know this very well. Just like he did to Mean Machine after that push they kept calling a knockdown. 100% KO ratio at 147 for a reason. That is the difference between Spence and Bud: Bud is mean, vicious and a str8 dawg who will want to get you back at all costs. Errol barely scraped by a SD against Porter, and that was thanks to a lucky knockdown else it would have been a draw or his first loss. Bud dominated Porter and forced him to retire. LEVELS ... There is a reason 99% of ex boxing legends and trainers all pick Bud to win this fight.
If anyone is chinny it is Spence and Bud gonna give him a soul-snatching life-meaning-searching type beating where Spence may have to find God or even come out of the closet to deal with the brutal KO loss he shall receive at the hands of a true mean mfer like Bud. Wait and see!!!!!

Porter started going back to his old ways lunging at Bud that’s why his ass got caught. Kenny told him not to do that shit.
Watching the Spence vs Ugas fight, I saw Errol doing the same exact thing as you saw Porter doing against Bud. I kept saying to my friends that even though Spence is blatantly beating up Ugas, he can't make those same mistakes against Bud Crawford. Spence has to tighten up in those moments because Bud is both more offensive and athletic than Ugas, and will capitalize on Errol's mistakes.

It's amazing how the Spence fans are saying what they think Porter should think and say about who is the best between those 2 . Shawn is a great analyst of his experience in the ring. His interpretation of Crawford and Spence fights with him is a high ring IQ output. Dynamism always have a better outcome than steady state.
Practically it means studying Crawford's previous fights is much more useful than studying Spence before fighting them.

Porter admitted to hating on Errol while he was interviewing Errol. Bud's too small for the natural welterweight Spence. EJ will bodysnatch Bud in 12. Bud will smoke Errol all night. Bud's footwork and stand swift too much for Errol. The only advantage Errol gets is the slow starting of Bud but once Bud finishes downloading, there'll be fireworks!

The thing is Spence can beat him at playing his game or playing his own… so when he says bud is better than Spence it’s like cool, but bud play his own game, Spence can play it both ways and still win 💯
Crawford can fight anywhere . Has a longer reach, more athletic . Wouldn’t be smart to bang with Spence but he can
Crawfords timing is what beat Porter. Crawford has incredible timing and accuracy. Look at some of his KOs namely Kell Brook (timed him coming in), Avanesyn (timed him on the inside), Benavidez (timed him when he was throwing a shot), Porter (timed him in the middle of exchanges) etc. Crawford can definitely time Spence and catch him with a big punch!
Spence on the other hand is all pressure! Consistent pressure behind strong fundamentals! He would possibly be the physically strongest fighter Bud would face but i think most people are expecting Spence to be physically stronger in reality Buds physical strength is highly underrated. He can’t logically say the way each guy chose to fight him determines who wins when they fight one another. They aren’t fighting Shawn. They are fighting one another. Shawn is capable of analyzing both guys and giving an opinion. In this video he made it about himself. He even said Spence tried to beat me at my game. Still won’t give him props for beating him at his game. Even with him being retired he says if they fight again it may not be the same result. Like bro, let it go. You lost. If Crawford is as mentally and physically in shape as in his last fight he is more likely to win than Spence. Spence is great and will be Crawford's biggest test, but Crawford's ability to size up the strengths of his opponents and work around them, and to set up his punches and fire them off with speed, accuracy, power makes him a bit more well rounded than Spence. But Spence can win if he pounds Crawford to the point where it slows him down, but we'll see if he can make that happen.
