Superb design! I was surprised to see this many great mechanical solutions in this machine. Basically the only ugly part in the design was the mechanism to move the gear at 12:20 - moving the gear sideways by pulling sideways from the teeth does feel like a hack. However, I think the video would have been much better without any background music. If you have noisy mic, just apply some modern noise removal software and let the pauses be totally silent.

Love this machine! I also made one (on my channel), but it's like not exaggerating (or barely) a 100 times slower than yours. I still like my own a lot too though, but having it work as fast and responsive as yours gives it a whole different feeling. Well done! I think I see some inspiration from the wooden Turing Machine that's also on youtube, am I right?
I saw the wooden one few years ago but later I forgot everything so it's mostly reinvented. But it took some time to make thing work efficiently (honestly, at previous "prototypes" that usually had only 1 working component I didn't really know what I was doing). Yours it also nice, if you want feel free to get inspiration to make it faster :)
