    Foam for me, too.

Looks like foam is the solid winner for walls!

Foam, for me, will always be the best material - though it also is the one that can take the longest purely because of how much you can do with it. It can also be the quickest if you dont care about detailing.
Cut a block, pelt it (gently) with a rough stone, and then paint it black and grey.

For the walls I agree completely with foam, I ended up making lots in very little time and If I hadn't had done the washing stage it would have been twice as fast.

@hobbyit yeah, that's a solid point - cardboard is probably marginally quicker for larger things like buildings - but even then I'd argue foam is still the best way. It's just as easy to cut and shape. But cardboard (and plywood to an extent) can be just as awesome if that's all you can get a hold of, for sure.
P.s great little vid dude, short, sweet, and easy to follow.

@@ObliviousStrife Thank man, much appreciated, I'm still learning my way through trying to create as engaging videos as possible. While catering to different levels. Enjoying the journey. Cardboard always gives me a feel of "real" crafting I don't know why haha, maybe its something about taking the most basic of materials and creating something. But foam very often creates the best look. I'm working on a Rohan house at the moment for a future again in all three materials so I'll be able to compare :)

@hobbyit good stuff! I definitely think you've got a good trick on the "3 level" vids, be it skill levels or levels of design - I.e beginner to skilled, or accessible items to not so accessible items (like every day stuff things such as cardboard). If you get my gist.

Foam for me. Struggling to make curved walls with XPS mind...

Hmmmm curved walls... I might have to see if I can do something with that

@@hobbyit specifically, I'm struggling to make the inner ringed walls of helms deep with XPS. Great video btw

@thomasford5312 Oh cool, so a big project, would love to see it. My first thought was to cut it out curved directly from a large block and then carve in the details, but that would waste a lot of foam which if you are from the UK is stupid expensive. Second thought for something that big would be to make lots of XPS bricks and stick them together just like building a real wall

@@hobbyit unfortunately I am in the UK and have found it hard to find affordable 'big' think pieces so I've been working with a lot of A4 sheets. I did buy a bunch of bricks. Perhaps this is the answer. Going to need a lot more 😆 thank you for the advice. I'll post it on Reddit/FB once it's done. Just the inner wall and the circular ramp to it and then I'm pretty much there

XPS is really hard to source here and when you can its expensive, I also have to work with A4 pieces. I've tried other things like expanded polystyrene for bigger projects which is easier to get from B&Q and a lot cheaper, but can only use that for the middle of builds as you can't use it to take impressions. But you might be able to use expanded and then make thin bricks you can stick to that. It's getting my creative juices flowing just thinking about how to achieve it haha
