As someone who has spent 1000s of hours of doing PVM its helpful for me as well in the same ways. It will be a nice change along with the channeled ability bar.
That's because that's how necromancy works. For range and mage your "basic" attack is you using Fire surge, blood blits, etc and shooting your arrows for range. Your basic attack is just like that. Atleast that's how I see it, else there will be no reasons for runes and arrows.
@@Aioaverona The old auto attacks are different than Necromancy. They have a cool down in that there what the attack speed of your weapons effects. Abilities across all styles ignore attack speed.
@@Webmaster4531 Ahhh I see what you're saying. I had to go back and take a look. Having a cywir wand is a 2,4s attack speed and having a staff is 3.6, as oppose to the guard it being on the GCD. But for Range, you have to make use of other ammunitions like the bolts or the runes for casting spells. How would that then work?
I like the new keybind displays with the modifiers. Many abilities have very similar icons and sometimes can't tell the difference quickly because the modifiers take a decent portion of it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree with you regarding the keybind text (its weird and could barely read it at my interface scale). I believe the changes are nice overall but full fledged damage rebalancing is needed to make the styles comparable, specifically at the entry level. Ideally people should be able to choose their preferred combat style from the beginning without any sort of significant penalty, but right now, even after this changes, necro is still unparalleled (again, at the entry level, not the high end) while also being dirt cheap.
What would you suggest to change this? It’s not like they can make the other styles cheap on a comparative level to necro. They should just keep it as is and buff the other styles that reward billions of gp spent on gear and advanced mechanics so that there’s more separation for the people that want to put in that effort. Keep necro as the “everything” style while making it slightly weaker than the top end of the other 3 styles. Reward the people who want to play as efficiently as possible while keeping all pvm options open for newer/casual players who don’t feel like 4taa’ing or 15 way switches to get 30 second faster kills. To speak to your entry level point, I honestly think it’s better if people are shoe horned into the most casual style to learn as they pvm. Buying 4 different sets of gear+ perks+ learning strategies and optimal ability rotations can probably be a bit daunting to those of whom the “entry level” title would apply.
@@ThatGuy-nv7cx What I mean is that when people start in any mmo, theyshould be able to choose the "class " they like the most. But right now necro is the only viable option until you have billions of gp, which really hinders the game. But then that would mean rebalancing the upgrades so that they don't become too powerful overall. You could also balance necro itself in the opposite way, nerfing the entry level but buffing the upgrades. The other styles won't have gear as cheap as necro (and don't need to) but it shouldnt be hundreds/billions of gp.

Would honestly be worth testing the mines at different bosses to see if it's just a weird thing with the crystals or if it's just a flat 30k damage now
Dominion mines deal 20% of a target's max HP, as long as the target is below combat lvl 138. Since the black crystals have 150k hp in solo mode, the mines will do 30k in a melee hit (capped at 10k in the live game) but because of the increased hit cap for all styles, including melee, they now hit 30ks. Stopped playing RS3 around 2016 and it's nice to see they're finally taking a good look at and making a bunch of changes to the combat system. A few things I'd still really like to see, and I know they're controversial, but button bloat is an absolutely insane problem that needs fixing. The amount of abilities that the RS3 rotation has is insane and this is coming from a WoW veteran who enjoys having access to a lot of abilities. There's no reason for a DPS rotation to have 10+ abilities in it. Even the average WoW rotation only has like 5 abilities you use frequently with like 5 more that are used less frequently. Yet WoW rotations are still very much so engaging and fun to execute. Also a niche issue I've always had with RS3's actionbar in particular is that when you press for example Shift-1 and you let go of Shift while still holding 1, the game registers it as you pressing 1. This is behavior that isn't present in ANY game or program in the world and it really throws off my muscle memory. It's something I really wish they'd fix, or give an option to disable. When I press Shift-1 in WoW and let go of Shift while still holding 1 it simply doesn't do anything and it makes for a much more consistent and expected feel for the combat.
Happy to watch your videos because it keeps me up to date, but i havent played RS3 in over a year and have no intrest in going back. Game dried up for me years ago. Personally i think the biggest problem in rs combat it the 2-3 bars of abilities and switches necessary to be efficient at high lvl pvm.... any1 who sees a rs player with half the screen of abilities will just leave, and wont bother... and i realy mean it just take world of warcraft, normal dps rotation is 3-5 abilities and there are still players that cant do their rotation... they cant expect players to walk around and have 24 shortcuts for 3 bars worth of abilities and switches and presonally i would realy like some actual tutorial where they show you, teach you some basic rotations, what feeds nicely into other abilities etc... now when you get a level it just unlock ability and you have to figure it out
if I can get my hands on ranged gear soon I will deffo take a look! But I need to practise a lot with ranged before I can really share any thoughts as well haha
I think magic needs a lil more of a buff to keep up with the other styles in the beta, hopefully Jagex notices that and makes it happen. I think the 30k damage cap is too high.
