Good evening Ed. Yep, the calves are getting it figured out. Got some rain this evening but only some sprinkles during the day. I didn't look at the rain guage didn't get a lot.

That's about it, at least it's done. Now I get to play trucker tommrow there's not enough to bother hiring a semi. The deer seem almost as destructive as the gophers. It was mild last winter, so there is more deer then normal. Now it's my turn to ween calves, hopefully this weekend.
@@burrridgefarms deer and elk are brutal here too, except our damage seems to mostly come in the winter on the bale stacks. But a herd of a hundred elk running through a grain field does a fair bit of damage. I had them destroy 7 acres of peas out of 60 acres last years.

Hey Ed and family, looks like the calves are adjusting well. With those quiet weans, the cows seem to bawl more than the calves. Never heard of burning sulfur flakes to get rid of gophers!! Moles are a problem in our hay fields.
@@3dranchmanitoba good evening! Thank you! Ya, cows got a little loud.. especially since I put them in new pasture the day the calves came off... A little wet grass fills the udders! It works for moles too.. just more digging to do it. And they tend to block off tunnels,. When I've gotten serious about trying to get moles, it seems like I get better than 50%. Ofcoarse it also gets their food source too. Helps get rid of the rest of them.
There was a guy on YT, he pumped some gas into the gopher holes, then he blew it up, lol🎆😂. At the farm we always had voles. They're same annoying like gophers. We put always vole traps into their holes. For the cats it was always an extra snack then, lol😁😺. Have a nice day Ed!

Sulphur is versatile stuff. A pinch in pants cuffs repells wood ticks. Barn lime to a lesser extent. Chance of rain every day in the 10 day. Maybe we'll get something. Thank you Ed.
@@chadtosh6831 in the bottom, just out from the pump, there's a 30'+ diameter low spot, moles did it. 5' of water over the top of it, collapsed it all. Big surprise when it's flooded and the bike suddenly drops in to the top of the seat😳😜🤬
@@piperdoug428 then you have badger holes.. catch 22.. gopher snakes get gophers, we don't have enough of them either. Weasels should get them too.. Fox used to keep them in check here, until hunters from Portland trespassing on everyone's property, shot then all. Coyotes get a few, but usually dig tank traps that are worse than the gopher hills..

@@tractortalkwithgary1271 57 isnt a bad average really. Corn is always easier to tell with enough scouting I've thought. Our corn did good, got 210 average which is great for our ground. Ground is hard to disk this year, the 22ft deere disk makes my 4430 grunt, needs more traction but with diff lock on, i can run b1-b2 no problem powerwise its just spinning a bit.
