We had one for 20 years. Loved it. Sold it five years ago because VW ended ALL support including vital drivetrain parts. Best choice now is to get a Pleasureway Tofino--same concept, similar layout, only 8 inches longer, based on Ram Promaster 1500. there are also scads of Promaster high roof camper conversions from mom & pop shops if youi don't mind a lower level of systems integration and want to save money.
That’s a bummer
We love our 2003 weekender! Added an ARB Fridge (bolted to the floor) behind driver's seat, kitchen/storage box behind passenger's seat and solar/battery/shorepower ... and a little caframo fan for our back seat passenger.
Sweet ride
Fantastic. Had an old air cooled VW Westy years ago and loved the concept - not the drivetrain. The Vanagon and Eurovan's seem like evolutionary improvements on a light weight weekender type of vehicle. Chris seems like a really knowledgeable nice guy. Thanks for a great interview!
Man Patrick is on fire this season! awesome video as always...love from Zimbabwe
Thank you very much
Fantastic video! i just bought a 1999 EVC and have been trying to figure things out. Very helpful!
One of the most informative videos I have seen for a prospective buyer. I think I have now figured out that this model is the one I'll be looking for. Now to just find the right one! Safe travels from California!
I’m soon getting a 2002 Eurovan and this video was perfect timing!
Hi Patrick, another awesome video. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much
I’m looking at a 93. Most camping will be within 3 hours or less. It is likely much more affordable and its a Westy Weekender. I’ll need to fix door locks and top canvas.
A brilliant video, thank you! What a fabulous vehicle. Renting this is definitely on my bucket list now lol. What a great way to earn rental income over the years and still have your capital at the end of it 😆
Thank you very much
Great video! I had two Eurovans and they truly become an emotional part of you. I have upgraded to a Metris and converted into a campervan, It'll be great if you can review one in the future...
Thamks
I would love to find a concerted Metris for my channel
love these vw rigs....
Me too
Very nice God bless you. I could really use one of these.
Go for it!
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures I am looking at a 95. They guy said the following “366K on the body.
The rebuild was done by the brother (a mechanic) of the previous owner. I have the receipts which totalled $11,500. It was done in 2019 at about 349K. So the engine has less than 20K on it. What say you? Asking 25k CAD.
Great video, very informative and obviously Chris has been bitten by the "bug." Low-keyed individual, who really knows these vehicles, and can't help but enjoy his knowledge and energy about this one. Well done, both of you!
True dude
im interested in one of these and this video is very informative
Thank you very much
I'm not into those pop-tops or tent-trailers unless one is in a very dry climate. It takes a lot of care to make sure mold doesn't start. Otherwise, good job. Good tip about fridge depth, Patrick.
Thank you for the insight
It was a nice car ,but so is the vw Camper..Nice video .. 👍🌟
I want one so bad!!!
Just picked up the same year EVC & so far love it! I was unaware of the electric locking differential...it’s there a button for that??
The best model from VW ever made
I really love this
Hei thanks for ❤ ,now I have 84' wasserboxer 1,9 90 ph injection 100% original, one owner ,8 seats its Sunday car.I dream on Subaru engine but I Norway it's illegal.
The guy who is demonstrating resembles the Boss in the movie Office Space who asks for the TPS report
I don’t see the resemblance
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures see properly
Very nice!!
I want one now!!!
Sweet
Please make you Van book available for downloading!
I like the VW Eurovan. Would make a great minivan with the extra side door.
The riding position wasn't comfortable for me. I needed longer arms. Has good suspension.
True
How do you manage hot temperatures? Any thoughts on hot water for the sink.
I wonder what the mpg is on these. It's a nice setup. Another great video Patrick.
I believe 18mpg
Around 18. More if you keep it below 70 - which is difficult.
I live in the UK and have a T4 800 special with a 1.9 tdi conversion (1z engine from a golf), does around 30mpg with a modified 5th gear ratio. 240,000 miles on the clock. Love it!
I have the 2002 EVC which is identical to the 2003. On average, it will do about 17~18 mpg in mixed driving and 20 mpg on the highway. The 24 valve VR6 is an excellent engine with plenty of passing power - even uphill! I bought it new in 2002 and I still can't find anything that can quite replace it. It is indeed the Swiss Army Knife of cars; everyday driver, camper, people mover and cargo van all in one.
It does have cruise control but no tilt steering. Was wondering if that could be changed.
I have test driven a few. Very quick and fast. VW could have put a sliding door on the driver's side. That might have helped the sales.
It had so much potential
It might be possible, but I don't think you could add tilt easily at all. The 2001 to 2003's are indeed very fast.
How much do you think is a good price for a 2001 vanagon, in great condition like yours? I’m looking at one that’s $39K
Hey can you help me find some parts for my Volkswagen euro Van I need the risers to raise the top have you found anyone in your area or somewhere where you could get these
Great video. I have a 95 spd eurovan and wanting to take the Norcold fridge. What fridge did you replace it with?
Thank you for watching.
Check out the NovaKool
It's a truckfridge TF49
Yay to the Vanual
Thank you for watching
Has anyone put a Japanese design engine in Eurovan? I know Subie conversions were on Vanagons. The transmissions were pretty prone to breaking in these, and $5000 to replace.
How do you light the pilot light on the on board furnace? The blower works but no heat.
It should be delivered ignition
At first I was sure he was actually Toby from The Office!
Interesting.
Is there an uncomplicated way to add an air conditioner for use in a campground? Thanks!
Not that I know of
You can just create a duct for a window AC unit to blow into the front window of the poptop. Velcro, scissors and some waterproof fabric and fabric glue and you'd be good to go.
Are those van reliable?
What refrigerator do you have in this?
As the video creator, I don’t know which one it is.
Omg! I’m in Sc!
so?

Thank you for watching
I like the Westfalia/Vanagon better...everything is more complicated in this one.
Thank you for your opinion
Love the eurovan but you have to pay a lot more for the camper version. Not sure it’s worth it
No storage, too small and that fucking engine will FAIL all the time
junk
Thank you for watching
9 years on TH-cam and that’s all you got? 🤣😂🤣
