Yeah, Catherine O'Hara absolutely killed that. It made me a little sad, though, since I'm a big Lucille Ball fan too, and O'Hara was painfully accurate with late-life Lucy's odd gestures, mannerisms, and cigarette-charred voice.
Catherine O'Hara's Lucy, is uncanny and *HILARIOUS!* ....Loved Martin Short's Deliverance kid too...SCTV was great at spoofing the greats and looking like them. I remember Martin did a great Bette Davis in her last few years of life...soooo good and funny! :D
for years, i have frequently said "the kid from 'Deliverance"' makes a good point" whenever a compatriot brings up a valid point. at least now i canshow the puzzled goobers a reference. lol
You are neither a Comedy Slob Nor a Comedy Snob. You are a, let's see, a Christmas Gila Monster. OOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW! ALRIGHIIIIT, SO, It's not so scary. It's my job! Count Floyd gotta pay the bills!
@Voracious Reader SUBTITLES!?! THEYRE SPEAKING ENGLISH FOR FREAK'S SAKE! Oh well. It's like people in my 300-level college classes complaining about "big words". The average level of modern education is abyssal. My Classical Greek class started with 30 people and finished the semester with 6.... And 4 were Greeks. The other 2 were myself and a scholarly lady. The other 24 were mostly gone by the end of the first week...they said the funny alphabet was too much to learn. Of course the Greek alphabet is a direct relative of the Latin alphabet... Sigh. Well at least there's Count Floyd.
@@bretthess6376 Ha ha haaa...boy Brett you...you really gave a real jump start to the old Count---heh heh heh. What? You don't think that's SCARY? I'm sure it was. I read an interview with one of the cast (Thomas?) where he said that they were so budget restricted they'd use stuff without clearing it.
There's an amusement park in West Mifflin called Kennywood. Surprised they don't have a Blood Sucking Monkeys themed attraction. BTW, I lived in Pittsburgh briefly in the late 70s, and a decade later, when I found out Joe was from there, I saw it as a good sign, cos I've been crushing on him hard by that time.
@@ignorecorporatenews yep. It was in Vivian Vances contract that she had stay at least 10 lbs beaver than Lucy, or something like that. Weird. No, SCARY!- Very very scary...ooohhh.
So I take it you were unable to secure the music rights to whatever song they were singing in this bit???When I got the dvd I noticed this also. What song was it?I like it regardless...very funny.
+Stuart Hindmarsh I think it made it even funnier. Like Count Floyd was desperately trying to make it scary by making spooky sounds over their singing.
Exactly. That was the whole sctick. Whenever count floyd hosted Monster chiller Horror Theatre, they would air some movie that wasn't scary, he would try to convince everyone that it was and then give up and admit it was junk. Just brilliant.
Fred Pickles Yes, but we're talking about how the sketch originally had music and this was cut out and replaced with the scary sounds. I doubt the other actors would have liked having their performances butchered like that.
That is absolutely the best Lucille Ball impression ever.

I've always found the older L. Ball to be SCARY!
Billy West's is pretty good
@@DanHarkless_Halloween_YTPs_etc And how about the fantastic detail of the alcoholic licking of the lips? HA!!!
The cast never half assed anything they did. O'Hara's Lucy is pitch perfect, and drop dead funny too boot!
Great show, Great cast!
Martin Short as the kid from Deliverance - lol
The look on his face after Lucy said he scared her. Priceless. lol
"I think the kid from Deliverance was right on one point" hahahahaha. This is priceless.
TOO funny
OH man I almost passed out laughing, I'm not sure the audience got it hahahahaha
The brilliant Martin Short.
That was some smooth editing to cover up "You Lost That Lovin' Feeling."
RIP Joe Flaherty, a unique and brilliant comic talent.

love the kid from delivrance's dance moves. and he DID make a good point in the discussion.
The makeup work is particularly good in this sketch; I didn't even recognize that it was Catherine and Eugene until they started to speak.
this was a very low budget show

The tinsel on the bat 😂😂
I hate to sound like a comedy slob, but I have found that people who love SCTV are almost always not only funny themselves but are highly intelligent.
Why, thank you.

Hey Floyd, meet me under the mistletoe
SCTV knew comedy.
The shoe polish,on 'The Counts' forehead, was never the same way twice
Was the Garvey-Upshaw duet stepped on for copyright reasons?

Yes.
Yes
It sure seems that way, my old dvd copy does the same thing.
My dad still has the entire xmas special on VHS.
Pure genius
We used to watch sctv on a snowy night while drinking beer. Lol😂. Who would of thought Canadian tv while drinking beer !! 😂😂😂😂
take off, eh?😁
The black guy was just on the film crew. He appeared in a few bits.
I thought it looked like Billy Preston
Life Long OAKLAND Raider & SCTV fan Gene Upshaw priceless. Please note my specificity about the location
This would be the First Catherine O'Hara Halloween, Christmas show! Before Tim Burton made it a thing. XD
West Mifflin?! Is Joe Flaherty from Pittsburgh?
Yep. Look for the "Blood Sucking Monkeys from West Mifflin Pennsylvania" episode.

The kid for Deliverance makes a good point, ay?
i am ascared of Lucy too.
I know the audio's been cut out but does anyone know what song Ed and Gene were singing originally?
“Youve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” by Righteous Brothers
1:17 Adam Sandler mixed with Thom Yorke.
Poor Lucy, between "Mame" and "Life with Lucy", her career went down the tubes.
Vivian Vance many times stated that L. Ball was a major beyotch.
