  • For my Presets visit: johnnathancord... On ‪@ThatPedalShow‬ ‪@andytimmonsguitar‬ played this beautiful little snippet that made Dan and Mick incredibly emotional. It's simple, but pretty, and so I thought I'd like to try and breakdown what is going on so that you can play it if you want.
    Leave a comment if you want me to continue doing these "teaching" ish videos as it helps it have a bit of a life on youtube instead of disappearing into obscurity...
    I'll stick some tabs up for this on / johnnathancordy when I get a chance over the next couple of days.

    I've decided to make it possible to grab both my Helix/HX Stomp bundles (the expression bundle with freeze presets has always been separate) together for £5 - www.paypal.com... - I will then email you a link to both bundles!

    To clarify if it was improvised or constructed: On TPS Viewers Comments and Questions on Monday Andy had a facetime call with Dan and explained that this piece, called Here Lies the Heart, will be on his next album of works inspired by Chopin - to be released later this year. I think the album will be called something like The Bitter Suites, the Outlier Nocturnes. So, there may be more wonderful tunes to learn

      Hi Sean Harrop. Have a listen to The Loner by Gary Moore - (Andy was a big fan of Gary's playing) - and see if you think the two instrumentals are similar or not.

      @@seanandben that's a seriously eighties video - loved it - is slightly similar - its a good theme 1 4 5 6 or 1 4 5 b6 on each chord no thirds so it sort of floats around with the minor implied by the 6 / b6 - lovely

    @JohnNathanCordy @Andy Timmons Guitar X-perience
    I saw Andy last night on Tone-Talk with Robert Keeley and asked Andy about that moment on TPS with Dan. He gave context for what brought it all to a head. Mick had a pair of Mesa Boogie Lonestars there which is what Andy used on stage for his three show stint with "That Pedal Show Band" just before the TPS episode in question, but they put them through a stereo boogie cab loaded with.. (my favorite lol) EVM-12L 200 watt drivers in stereo.. And it literally was a moment.. a "thing" for them all, the tone was so beautiful.. that was 30 min before they started taping for the show. When they started taping the show, and Andy started playing that piece, they were all primed and feeling it from that incredible tone in that room (which he says, though the video recording sounds lovely, it didn't quite bring across the feeling in that space with the amp and cabs) And Dan was so moved, they had to stop taping. I absolutely LOVE that moment..
    You, sir, did it such beautiful justice in your intro, and breaking it down for us is something we all are thankful for, as well as hearing that you saw TPS and that moment was awesome for you as well.
    Andy told that story in answer to my SuperChat, where I mentioned that I found my way to that TPS episode after seeing THIS video inspired by it. Andy was so gracious.. He actually had Marc bring my chat back up on the screen so he could see your name again so he could check you out. I hope he does and discovers, like the other 50,700 of us, a wonderful source of musical inspiration, instruction, and listening joy pretty much every morning.. Cheers Mate.. Hope to see you and Andy in a video TOGETHER some day. 🙂

    I forgot to mention, a breakdown of his delay settings would be fun. I've been messing with it for years and I still cannot get it perfect. But it does sound huge. I use a triple delay however his Halo claims to use two, I have not got it going on with two. Three , yes. your insight would be awesome here. FWIW, Holdsworth had a Yamaha UD Stomp which is amazing because it has Alans Pre sets. The manual is still available although the delay is officially ' Unobtainium " Status. So you can break down the specs. With 8 stereo delays its powerful.

    I don't play much but what struck me was that the notes weren't hard, or quick, and some of the changes felt so familiar (I had twin peaks in my head or something), but it was so incredibly musical, how he addresses the strings with the pick and fingers, and the effortless timing, it just made it so much more than a tablature would display.
