- In order to claim the MITC for the 2023 tax year, the individual must file an Income Tax Return. In order to claim the MITC the claimant must submit the following documents at the time the claim is made:
Certificate of Mortgage Interest 2022,
Certificate of Mortgage Interest 2023, and
Confirmation of mortgage balance at 31 December 2022.
It is worth noting that the claimant will need their LPT Proerty ID no. to hand when completing the Income Tax Return to make the claim for Mortgage Interest Tax Credit. The documents can be uploaded through Revenue’s online services.
For PAYE employees, those filing a Form 12, the documents can be uploaded via the ‘Upload Supporting Documents’ service which can be accessed through myAccount under the 'Manage My Record' card which pops up during the application process.
This step by step video shows how a PAYE taxpayer can claim the MITC for 2023 by completing an Income Tax Return in myAccount. To note, the three documents specified in the video are required as part of the claims process.
To claim the credit and complete an Income Tax Return, the following steps are required:

Click on ‘Review your Tax 2020-2023’ in the ‘PAYE Services’ section.

Hi PMI.. myself and my husband are both PAYE workers but I also am self employed as I have a small craft business. I dud my own income tax returns this year but we now want to file for Mortgage relief for 2023. We can't seem to find on form 11 where we do this. Would love your advise thank you.
We deal with PAYE taxpayers. We don't deal with chargeable self assessed persons but Self-assessed taxpayers should be able to claim the relief from mid-to late February.
Hello. There is no ‘Mortgage Interest Tax Credit’ under the You and Family section for me. Would i need to delete and restart the tax return to get this to appear or is it just being rolled out in stages
? Kind Regards. Thanks again
It is been added in stages. I would have expected evryone to have it by now. Don't worry it will appear soon. Refresh your screen.
Still none for me also. Been getting the run around on the phone. Done statement of liability updated all property tax uploaded it in documents. And still no menu in household for it
@@derekkearns3377 if you delete your current income tax return and restart it. It should show up
It's still not in mine either!
