    Do you think they fight more aggressively/longer fight hooked on the side of the head vs swallowing it?

    • @DeanSilvester
      @DeanSilvester  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They certainly seem to mate, i don't think it hurts them as much on the outside of the head. They also don't often jump as much so they have more energy as well.

    Another great informative vid Deano - I agree that the colour doesn't matter at night, it's all about the action of the lure. Daytime is a very different story though...

    • @DeanSilvester
      @DeanSilvester  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i will have to do a daytime colour video then to prove your theory haha. i know one particular day at awoonga we caught them on atleast 6 completely different coloured jerkbaits haha

      @@DeanSilvester done numerous experiments. Sometimes it matters (I remember one creek in the Kimberley the Barra went crazy on purple and rarely bit on any other colour). But 9/10 it makes no difference.

    It seems that with those baits. It's one treble in the mouth and one on the side of the head. Color at night doesn't matter much. But I have been told black works. Because the fish look up and see the outline of the bait. I really think its the action that causes them to strike so hard. I heard spinning tackle is becoming the rage now. A 8 foot rod with a big spinning reel and braided like would be alot of fun Dean! Those fish are tanks. Great night VIDEO. Shawn.

  • @ringboypunk

    Grouse vid Deano!!! Slightly off topic, but i was just curious as to why spin reels seem to be non existant in barra fishing?

    • @DeanSilvester
      @DeanSilvester  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i do use spin reels at times mate, but i find i like the line to have minimal slack in it when it hits the water as i typically fish near weed. A baitcaster is better at keeping it tight and straight meaning less likely to sink into the weed before you start the retreive. Drag capacity os also another factor as is the weight of the spin reel required vs the baitcaster

    Hi Dean,
    typical high-quality footage, action, and information from you as usual thank you.
    What size trebles are you using on those MOLIX and are they VMC 6X,
    I noticed you have made another mod to your MOLIX also.
    See if anyone else notices.
    I went to download that APP you are using DEAN, however, there appear to be quite a few versions to choose from, i looked at BITE TIMES AUSTRALIA is that the one you use?

      hey mate, no the app is called "fishing times" in app store. I have a couple of videos up on youtube mate giving you the whole run down on what mods i do to the molix including trimming, rings, hooks etc. I typically like to run the Owner STX but at the start of this trip i was trying the BKK Viper 41.

      @@DeanSilvester Hi mate,
      Very cool regarding the new VIPERS, they certainly look tough.
      I have watched one of your Molix modification videos regarding double split rings etc, trimming body,
      I don't recall anything about removing the main top single hook
      It looked as though you have removed the big single hook at the top near the dorsal fin.
      Ok I will download that app.
      Thanks again

    • @DeanSilvester
      @DeanSilvester  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      haha thanks mate, no i think eating it vs hitting it are too completely different things. I know i can trigger a fish to eat when they aren't ready and can also trigger a fish to react when i know they are there. When they eat it even on a reaction it is still a very subtle take compared to hitting it.

      Up at 2;00 am watching Dean's fishing video's. I like the slow motion. You really get a sense of the action up close. The video's are getting better and better. If the lock down occur's again in the States. We are depending on your video's. To see is through till it's gone. It's the start of winter going tomorrow to see if I can keep my goal of catching bass every month this year. High 30's. Guess its time for a jerkbait. I have been checking out Spinning reel's.
