    - 4-5 Potatoes (diced)
    - 1/4 cup White Poppy Seeds
    - 2 green chillies
    - 2 dry red chillies
    - Water
    - 2-3 tbsp Mustard Oil
    - Cumin Seeds
    - Mustard Seeds
    - Fennel Seeds
    - Nigella Seeds
    - Fenugreek Seeds
    - 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
    - Water
    - Salt
    - Mustard oil
    - Green Chilli

    It's always so nice to watch your shows & this time you look so confident making one of the most delicate,, authentic & 'a must' item that is awfully dissolved to Bengali emotion 🙂
    But few things must be taken care of,, water should be added proportionately while making Poshto paste,, no use of water to further process unless a thin gravy required (that's usually rare),, potatoes could be steamed before cooking if necessary.
    2ndly,, the whole spices can be used as personal choices but technically not because whole spices always tend to kill the aroma of Poshto (itself)
    Little bit of sugar always helps to reduce the sharpness of salt 😀
    Must add green chillies & one spoon full of raw mustard oil at the end & cover it for few minutes before serving...
    The rest you feel to do better as a master chef...

    Radhuni can be replaced with mustard seeds not kalonji .. kalonji is must in panch foron

    Poppy seeds shouldn't be roasted. Grind them just the way they are. With green chillies and a clove of garlic. The fifth seed in pachphoron is Radhuni or ajmod.

    Pach phoron is never used in aloo posto this is aloo chorchori that does goes with luchi.

    I sometimes dry roast the poppy seeds too! Bengalis don't do that, but I personally think it brings out the flavour and the raw smell is gone that way

    I'm bong girl...I make it without roasting poppy seeds...bcoz if roasting poppy seeds lost its own fragrance...and cooking start with onion seeds in oil and then lil amount of onion...pls try once with this recipe 😊

    Wow...you dry roast it!! We r Bengali.....bt we don't do that..we directly put it into the grinder...bt nxt tym will do it by roasting it first 😀😀

    Not authentic. But try this recipe with only onion(instead of potato) with out dry roasting poopy seeds. It's a delicacy called " Piyaj posto" 🙏
