I just want to thank you. In the past month and a half I have been listwning and taking notes on how to improve my diet. My diet has done a 180 and my anxiety is nearlt nonexstant from a state of me panicking nearly ever month. My blood pressure seems to have been the culprit and everyone was shocked when it was measured and it was slightly low. I have had hypertension my entire teenage and adult life. I switched to a walking desk recently because my desk is hitting my shoulder which i had injured and my enegry is also through the roof. I eat as much as I want whenever I want and as long as it is whole plant based foods I feel just great! I've also lost 10 pounds! I just wish I could get my family to make these changes as well. At least I can give them the information and visual proof.
Regarding Peripheral Artery Disease (warning: soapbox ahead) If you have an older, low active/mostly sedentary person in your life, encourage them to get the test. It's quick and painless. Basically it's taking your blood pressure at your arms and lower legs. My MIL died from PAD and she was in otherwise good health. When I asked her doctor why she was not tested sooner he said she never complained of the main symptom-leg pain with vigorous exercise that stops when the exercise stops. She was an older lady who did no vigorous exercise. That's their main criteria to get it on their radar. She'd had a triple bypass years before and every year the vascular surgeon gave her a clean bill of health but no one thought to check her legs. She lived on her own, had her own business, drove her own car, except for nighttime cramps in her legs she felt fine. Until she didn't and ended up in the hospital then hospice. Once it got bad she was gone in a month. She could have easily had another good 5 or 10 years. Get your loved ones tested.
Daily exercise is key to as healthy life. Ride a bicycle to school, work or for fun. Riding a bicycle is a great way to exercise. Ebikes are bringing many older adults back to cycling. Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles. Safe protected bike lanes and trails are needed so adults and children can ride safely. Speak up for bicycles in your community. Bicycles make life and cities better. Ask your local transportation planner and elected officials to support more protected bike lanes and trails. Children should be riding a bicycle to school and not be driven in a minivan. Be healthier and happier. Ride a bicycle regularly. Make a bicycle your transportation option for short distance travel.
@@nessieness5433 Most ebikes are pedal assist and require you to pedal and exert effort. They provide assist on hills and when extra effort is required. Beets & beet juice! 👍 Does it make a difference if it’s cooked or raw? Fresh, canned or glass jar? Beet juice from making our own with a blender? Actually, I never saw beet juice on a store shelf.
I live in a fire zone and yearly our summers, on and off, can have smoke-filled air. It will be interesting to see how much it may increase heart and lung disease in this area in the future. I've actually seen a rare person smoking during these smoke filled days, uck.
Curious about the beet juice as I tend to have fairly low blood pressure even though I’m pushing 70! I’ve experienced the “white coat syndrome” at times and even then, my diastolic pressure was was at most 76 or 78 at the highest. At rest and relaxed, I’m around 110/60. Any problem with someone like me drinking beer juice? Thanks!
Low-fat diet is the best thing you can do for your blood vessel health, being extremely hydrated and doing cardiovascular exercise to absolute failure. At least once a week will give you maximum results, Carbs FTW!! 💪💪💪
Either works, although the study he cites is about adding a cup of beet juice to your diet daily. Eating a couple beets (raw or cooked), supplement, powdered… it has all shown benefits. I’m assuming eating actual beets would have the most benefits, regardless of raw vs cooked, but assumptions… 😅 Chances are he has a video on it if we look. ❤
So inspiring and fine direct advice - 🙏for all the research and sharing - I love beets, both raw with garlic and a bit of lemon, or microwaved with a few drops of water and sometimes baked in the oven - always without added Oil or fat of any kind - I make a dressing from one slice of organic orange with the Peel and a few walnuts or a spoon of freshly grounded linseeds - and I eat whole food starch Based whole plant food inspired from dr Neal Barnard, dr McDougles, dr, William Li and dr Peter Rogers and Chef AJ - 🎶🍀🎵💚🐸

Dr Greger and staff - Thank you for this podcast. I can't tell you how many times I've recommended people to NutritionFacts. Keep up the great work!

And it was super interesting that nitrate rich vegetables such as beets can lower blood pressure 🎵💜🌺♥️🎶
I love these podcasts.
I’m ashamed to say I have an aversion to beets! I do love beans though!
Brilliant- Thank you Doc Greger 👊
Try beet juice mixed w low salt v8 or tomato juice. I also add hot sauce to taste.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️
Great sharing. Thanks.
Lentils, mushrooms, broccoli, walnuts, coq10 and vitamin C 🎉 👍

E-bikes do unfortunately not require effort or excertion, they do NOT have the same positive impact on your health as 'regular' biking.

Depends on where you live. I'm from Florida where it's flat. I couldn't imagine trying to ride a bicycle in West Virginia.

I’m curious, at the end you said 4 of 26 participants got better. Isn’t that basically nothing? How do we know it was because of beans?
Given the small number of subjects and the short duration of the study, 15% isn't a bad result. And that was only one serving a day.
The four moved into the normal range. The other 22 may also have seen significant improvement, but he didn't cover that.
Exactly, very good question
Thanks for the info!
Will bacon with my beans be ok? Please
Very good information in this video, thanx.
