After twenty-five years of political stability, Rwanda is a safe and well organised country, and challenges the common clichés about the African continent. Let's set the stage: a mild climate, peaks a plenty, 4,500-m high volcanoes, immense old-growth forests, numerous clear water lakes and the vast savannah. Then there's the wildlife and the last surviving mountain gorillas, an ancient culture and a relaxed approach to life mastered by the interesting, welcoming locals to add to the mix. And the icing on the cake: superb tarmacked hilly roads and a network of tracks for all riding levels and preferences.
