- What an amazing experience getting to go to Bora Bora! We flew from PIT to SFO to PPT to BOB. Some quick good deal traveler tips (more details in a future video).
1. Sit on the left side of the plane from PPT to BOB for the overwater bungalow views.
2. Bring your own alcohol from SFO or LAX, drinks are VERY pricy at the resorts.
3. Do your research before buying black pearls to see if they're real or fake. Real pearls have imperfections and fake ones are too perfectly round. Find the most "imperfect" yet "perfect" pearl you can afford.
4. Go to Vaitape's (the main town of Bora Bora) Chin Lee supermarket for cheaper yet excellent food. Conrad was $40 for a pizza.
5. If you're going to stay at the Conrad, make sure you're at least a Gold or Diamond Hilton member. We were able to get an upgrade to the overwater villa based on our status. The breakfast is also included for gold and diamond members. You can easily achieve Hilton Gold or Diamond via credit cards.

Going in March. Where did you purchase the black pearls from?
We got ours at Vaitape which is the main island of Bora Bora, and there were surprisingly good deals at the airport. Just don’t get it at your hotel which marks up the prices.

Which room do recommend booking with points to have the best chance of getting upgraded to an overwater villa? (assuming diamond status)
The only non premium room you can book is the base garden villa with 120k points. Based on how busy they are you’re more likely to get upgraded to an overwater villa. Don’t travel on peak season weekends. Off season weekdays is your best bet to get an upgrade. Make sure you ask for the diamond upgrade when you arrive.
