  • Happy Chinese New Year everyone!
We’re getting some authentic Chinese food to celebrate, and we are in the unofficial new ChinaTown of Glasgow. Just where Dumbarton Road meets Byres Road in the West End.
They should take the gate from the actual Chinatown in Cowcaddens and put it right here.
One of the benefits of having the massive increase of Chinese Students in Glasgow is the amazing asian food shops we have now.
Also the Uni’s here are reporting record high profits, probably from the high tuition fees they can charge for international students. Uni’s are businesses after all.
One of the most recommended places within the Chinese Student community is Station Kitchen.
So for years and years, Chinese food in the UK was cooked by Hong Kong immigrants.
If you look at this lunch menu, the dishes here are inspired from provinces in China.
The big clue is that everything is spicy!
This lady was wrapping the wontons, so i had to get that. So this is the Red Chilli Oil wonton dish. I asked for it a little milder, so the kids can have some. They use Sichuan peppercorns, which releases a chemical within the spices that numbs your mouth. Fans of spicy food, needs to try this!
To cool us down, we got this Garlic Pickled Cucumber. It’s a cold dish, but look at how happy she is eating it.
This is the Braised Beef Flank soup noodles.
Fun Fact, long noodles are often eaten in Chinese New Year as a symbol of longevity. The longer the noodles, the longer you live!
This was the Braised Aubergine with Rice. So good.
It was the first time for us eating here and the prices were reasonable.
We’ll be back to try their evening menu.
