My cat, Goblin, is a 17 year old calico. She picked me out in the shelter, and she’s always known exactly what she was doing! She was diagnosed with cancer two years ago so our time is running out. I will miss her so much.
Love to learn more about sweet Nova. My senior dog is mostly brown but she went gray/white on her face and paws quite quickly when she started getting older. It's a sad reminder when you've known them since they were young, but also so sweet to be there for them as they age.
Nova's so cute! We have a dachshund named Mitzi who will be turning 17 in October. She's also gotten quite frosty since we've had her. It's something we didn't really notice until we looked at older pictures of her. We rescued her when she was 6 and we've often wondered what her previous life was like. She's very much a people pup and always loves to snuggle up. Like Nova, she also searches for food a lot and has eaten some unfortunate things during walks. We've learned to watch her very carefully. There's a gene that some dogs have that increases their interest in food, which may be the cause. Anyway, she's our sweet baby and we love her dearly.
We have a rescue pittie named LouisaMay. She is 75lbs of good girl. We also have a corn snake named Clementine, though she generally just goes by Snoot. She's a really lovely, chill girl. She's changed a lot of snake-fearing minds.
I have two dogs and a cat. They are all rescues. We (my partner and I) joke that we cracked the code, because the staff at the humane society told us Sam (dog) and Sybil (cat) would never be able to be around the other species, and while they don't always love to share space, they don't fight and even cuddle sometimes. Rosie (border collie x german shepherd) is the dog of my heart. She was our first rescue and my first dog outside of childhood. She is getting up there now, nearing 11 this year, but she still loves to play and run and go on long, long walks in the country. Sam (mutt, seriously, even our vet has no clue) was a stray before he was rescued and bravely tries to protect me from the coyotes when they howl in the swamp just past the fields around our house. He doesn't know that we will protect him, aw. He's 6 and loads of energy, but also loves snuggles. I know I've been busy when he crawls into my lap and leans on my chest. Sybil (tabby cat) was also a stray before being rescued. She's a smallish cat and likes to share the room with you, and snuggle occasionally. In the summer she will often share a sunbeam with the puppers and seeing them all nap together melts my heart. I'm a huge animal nerd, so I love that you are embracing your love of doggos!
Nova rocks ,I would love to have a word with God and get doggies normal lifespan extended, I am trying to work out whether Nova is the luckiest to have found you or you are the luckiest to have found him "lets call it a draw" eh.....A trillion hugs for you all..
I have a dog very similar to Nova, named Watson (his brother was Sherlock who has passed). His fur is so low maintenance, we don't have to do anything unless he gets something dirty on him, so no judgment here! The drawback is that he sheds quite a bit, to the point that my ear doctor found one of his hairs in my ear once. Edit: just watched that you requested the breeds. Watson is half Chihuahua and Black Lab. Sherlock, who was my soul connection, was a Cairn Terrier.
Watson also is clingy while sleeping. The first night, he tried to sleep on my face! We compromised and he slept on my neck. As an elderly dog now, he likes being between legs now.
I have two puppers now, Rey and Maple. Years ago, we had a beagle who managed to eat herself into pancreatitis as well. It was so hard to keep her out of the things she wasn’t supposed to have, and her special food was so expensive. She was such a bad dog but the best girl at the same time.
Such a sweet boy! I have a Sheltie who’s also super soft, but the fluffy kind. He adores children, and once we were walking him and this little boy comes up and asks to pet him. When his hand made contact, his little face made a big O and he whispered, “he’s even fluffier than he looks!” 😊

This was a perfect video! I was a cat person growing up but have really warmed up to dogs as an adult. My partner and I got our first dog a few years ago! Her name is Phoenix, she's five years old, a rescue, and she's a terrier mixed with a mystery, but we think maybe husky because she's larger than terriers usually are and she has a double coat and a curled tail like a husky. She loves to sniff and go for long walks, and play with her two doggie friends (other doggies are not allowed in her bubble). Totally felt this video as a fellow dog parent haha!
My Merlin is 5. He's a beagle. Beagles live to be 13-15 years old. You have plenty of time with him. I bathe my dog monthly, usually after my cycle, because he sleeps with me, and then he smells like period at the dog park, and other dogs fail to grasp consent with the humping.
sniffing time: hear hear. we had a lab/terrier when i was a kid, and so much personality would be revealed by the excitement with which toby would suddenly turn on a dime to investigate some complex cache of secret dog information at the fence post. the urgency was palpable. i too got in the habit of long pauses at these depots in order for toby to get the full brief. fun fact: in her youth, you could take a stone, rub it around in you hand a bit, then whip it into the brush as far as you could. she would find and return said stone, the exact same. the semiosis of scent for certain animals is like fibre optic internet vs our dial-up.
My dog Kylo is all black with some white on his chest 🖤🤍 he also eats everything off the ground and hates cats! I thought he was beagle/lab until i got his dna test. I found out hes cocker spaniel/boston terrier! 😂 I love what you said about a sniffy walk!
