This video has confirmed what I have felt all along. It is possible to own and take care of just the one guinea pig. I owned a guinea pig for 4 and a half years. He lived with me from the time that he was a baby at 4 weeks old until the day that he died and he couldn't have lived a happier life. I think that he managed to live happily as a single guinea pig because he was still very young when he came to live with me, therefore he never would have known or remembered what it was like to live around other guinea pigs. I gave him all of the love and care and attention that he could possibly have asked for. I was very attached to him, and it was very sad for me when he died prematurely from pneumonia.
This video was very helpful one of my piggies recently passed away and one of my pigs has been lonely and I can tell she is sad I am trying to convince my parents that she needs another friend but they don’t want to commit
I'm in the same boat. One of my females sadly passed a couple of days ago as well. My other seems to be doing pretty well so far but eventually I would want to adopt her another friend. However my mom does not want to commit to another either and I'm in need of a way to convince her, I don't think she really understands how important it is for them to have a companion. Any luck on convincing your parents and if so any tips for me? :)
Yeah my guinea pig passed away a couple of hours ago and I’m trying to find out if one of my friends that has guinea pigs will take the other because I don’t want her to be lonely she‘s only a year and a half old
@@AsherCrasher my pig passed away yesterday… it was sudden and a big shock . I have another but she’s so sad and I can’t get her a friend . I put a stuffed toy for her and give her so much love but it’s hard to do both when seeing the cage makes me sad . Can you share how you are coping in order to help me . We are in this together
Thank you so much for this video. Unfortunately we had to go through the tough decision of putting Oreo to sleep two days ago and though I know he is no longer in pain, I feel like there is something missing in his cage. I got two piggies at the same time and am not allowed another one :(. The piggy that I still have is called Milo, he is 6 years old and still eating & running. We give him lots of love and attention and just hope he doesn't feel too lonely. We all really miss Oreo and it feels as if things won't be the same, but I'm so thankful he let us be with him for 6 years of his life. Thank you for this video again
I'm so sorry to hear about Oreo :( It sounds as if you're a very caring guinea pig owner so I know you'll do your best to make sure Milo has a lovely life despite having lost his friend x
We have a similar thing, we got out two 14months ago, they are brothers. Unfortunately one got really ill and today we had to make a heartbreaking decision and have him put to sleep. Just don’t know whether to get another as I feel so sad for the one I have left
@@samanthamccarthy9646 I'm so sorry to hear that. The grieving process is really hard. I actually lost my last piggy (the one who was alone) in November and he was put down to sleep too to shorten his suffering. Firstly, please be gentle with yourself and spend lots of time w/ your piggy. Would you be okay w/ getting another piggy? Your piggy is quite young and would probably benefit w/ a friend. You can look into adopting another piggy of a similar age. There's a really helpful forum called The Guinea Pig Forum. I'm really sorry for your loss, but know that you are not alone
@@samanthamccarthy9646 Guinea pigs are very social they don’t do very good alone. However you should always leave the Guinea pigs 4-6 weeks to mourn the passed one.
I really want a guinea pig, but I’m scared about one of them dying, and then the other pig not having a friend because I don’t want to have a sick or sad guinea pig because I don’t want the same things to happen over and over again. And of course if I did get a few guinea pigs, I would want the best for them
Guinea pigs will live if you give them the proper treatment and they will live for about 8 or 10 years, so you won’t need to worry If you’re guinea pig gets sick/ or looks sick make sure you always check the vet! And they will give you great advice! And watch a channel called little adventures they should give you excellent information about guinea pigs as well as Scottys animals!
I adopted 2 sisters 5 years ago and unfortunately 1 died a few months ago. I watched her sister like a hawk for signs of loneliness. She is in a 2x4cc cage in the lounge with me nearly all day. She gets fresh veggies, hay, readi-grass, grass bales, nuggets and treats, plus loads of chewy toys and her cage has lots of boxes and tunnels. She gets clean bedding and cage 'change around' daily. She squeaks when she needs something and is quite demanding if I don't attend immediately. She is friendly with the 2 cats and will let them know how to play nice (she has bitten one cat who was playing a bit too rough once). She doesn't seem lonely at all and is a lot more chill now although she does appreciate hearing a few guinea noises on youtube occasionally.
I love your videos which are full of good advice about guineas. I would just like to add that if you are left with a single pig, and don't want to keep guineas after that one dies, you might find a rescue that is prepared to lend you a pig until yours dies and then take their pig back. I know a rescue/shop which would do this and it would solve the problem. I was left with a very sad guinea after it's life partner died, and she immediately cheered up again when I got her a new friend.
One of my guinea pigs died yesterday... my mom won’t get another because we will be caught in a never ending loop of pigs. But the guinea pig I still have, is pretty independent and was mean to my piggie who passed away. So I think he will be fine alone, I will spend all my time with him and spoil him ❤️
It's difficult when you get to the stage where you no longer want to get more guinea pigs but if you give him lots of attention and care really well for him that is really good :)
I had two guinea pig and they had a fight. But before they had a fight my guinea pig was pretty sad never seen him popcorn and they were very spoilt and the two I got were apparently a bonded. My guinea pig is so happy now he's popcorning all the time and is so much more happier. I'm not saying your information is wrong and I love that your raising awareness and said that there is cases where the piggy is happier by themselves
That's fantastic! I'm so glad our videos are helping you to learn how to care for your piggies and to find out what's best for them. Did you find your single piggy changed at all when you introduced the friend? Did he/she become more active and happy?
@@GuineaPiggles I have a question for you I am a little worried about me guinea pig because her right eye is Wide open and her other eye is looks a little gross and her eyes was like almost glued shut
Definitely make a vet appointment. I can't say what may be wrong as I'm not medically qualified and she needs to be looked at asap by a professional. Explain how she looks to them and ask if you could see someone asap.
I took your advice and watched the video. I did not mention that I do have anxiety, and I spend So much time with him! Thank you for the advice though, your videos really help!
so how’s is going…do u still only have one are they happy? I want to get a Guinea pig for my anxiety but two would be to much for me I just want a little friend but now I’m scared it’s gonna die so how’s it been?
@@zoeleave1013 he's been doing great! I don't think they would just die if you got attached to them. If you have family or friends that live with you, ask them to help when you are not around. That way they are never lonely. :)
I adopted 2 guinea pig brothers even though everyone around me said that boys would fight with each other and wouldn't get along! Fair enough, they teeth chatter at each other once in a while but that's no reason to isolate boy piggies. They deserve a friend to. ❤ I notice that there's a lot of misconception especially around boy piggies that they don't need a friend. :(
I totally agree Esmée. Boys can sometimes be more challenging to bond but given the right amount of space and enrichment and the right companion they can be amazing buddies!
@@GuineaPiggles exactly! They have floor time everyday so they can run around my room and get rid of some energy and they are totally fine! 😄 My boys are the absolute cutest. ❤
I had two boy guinea pigs and one of them died due to a sudden temperature change as British weather is like that and no one will fix our broken window in their room. They were best friends and the current one we have was shy. His brother died nearly a year ago now and he died in lockdown and my parents didn’t want to get a new one due to this and that she didn’t want to stress him out. I am trying to better his life for however long he has left but without getting another little guy. He is 3 now and as he was a pet shop piggy his life expectancy is 4 years
my guinea pig passed away an hour ago he was not playing or running or eating this morning i woke up and saw that my baby was bleeding from his nose and his mouth a little bit we were about to go the vet as i putted George in his cage he went in his favorite tube i came in a min and i saw that my baby was staying still i rushed to see him..but he was hard as a rock his feet became white i started crying but at least he is in a better place..to sad he was with us for only 2 weeks...RIP George🐹😭😭😭🎉
I have two boars and I'm pretty sure they're brothers. Regardless, I've had them since they were one or two weeks old and they're the same age. They get along just fine. They're now 8 months old, but I'm already worried about what will happen when one dies. I don't want the remaining piggy to be depressed and lonely. I'm hoping they'll grow old together and when the time comes, I'll have to spend a ton of time making the remaining piggy happy because I couldn't bare to part with them. Thank you for the video.
as long as there happy and healthy they should be fine after one dies I think I had 2 boars unfortunately lost one today and the one we still have seems to be doing perfectly fine he's running around and eating still just if one is dieing it's better to put them together so the other one knows what's going on it helped my piggy alot he never left his side so he knows what happened and he's doing good
I'm a very solitary person and watching Guinea pigs makes me smile... i really want to have a single one hope we could bond together but i guess that's not possible.. 😭
Many people find that guinea pigs really lift their spirits but why not get two? Two need the same space as a single guinea pig and they are much more fun to watch because they are happier and their interactions are really fun to see. You could then bond with both of them :)
What a lovely video, thank you Monique for bringing these issue to peoples attention so sensitively. Mr Jaffas was particularly adorable in that video! :-) When we got our first trio of girls, unbeknown to us, one was pregnant which our vet confirmed when we took them in for their new pet health check. Nutmeg, although still only very young herself, gave birth 2 weeks later to 2 healthy babies-one boy and one girl. We kept the girl, Pecan (now 2 years old!) but felt it best at the time to re-home the little boy piggy Almond who went to live with a single lonely young boar belonging to a local woman. I think now with greater experience, I would have kept little Almond too and had him neutered so he could live with his mum, sister and 2 aunties! I remember how sad he was when we had to separate him from all of the girls even though it was for only a very short time before he went to his new home :-( it was really awful. I think Switzerland have got it absolutely right there, a piggy should always have at least one (or ideally several friends!!) Have you decided to go back to using fleece bedding for the piggies now? The cage looks lovely and colourful. Have a good wheekend x Jemma :-)
Thank you Jemma :) I think it's important to cover all these points because nothing is black and white. I've heard so many stories of people finding out their new piggy is pregnant even when they thought they had a "boy"! :D That must have been really difficult for you to have to give one up but it's a difficult situation when you're faced with a small herd of piggies and of different sexes too! We're using hemp bedding at the moment as some of the footage in this video was shot when we were still using fleece. I think we're going to stick with either hemp or pine shavings but not decided which yet :) Hope you have a great WheekEnd too! x
@@GuineaPiggles yes i have but the cage i have is not large enough that’s why she free roams once we move i will have enough space to get a midwest cage for her and a friend
My guinea pig is young and his best friend just died, a heat pipe in our house burst and he didnt make it, but i am gojng to keep him!! i spend 2-4 hours a day with him because i love him VERY much and i can tell hes happy, he popcorns, hes active, and he purrs happily often
We bought it on the Amazon UK website but I don't think it's available on the US version unfortunately. I'll put links to the UK one in the description when I get a moment :)
I have three boars- all rescues. I keep them in separate cages beside each other. I had them in a 28 square foot cage with huge piles of hay and 3 of everything Neutering can be dangerous.
Have you ever tried putting them in together? If they have a really large cage there is less chance of them fighting. Neutering can be dangerous like any operation but if you choose a good well qualified vet who has done this operation many times before then your piggy is in safe hands and has the best chance of a good outcome.
Mine is on his own, but he gets plenty of positive attention and he's very content and happy. He's almost seven years old now. Switzerland needs to get a clue as many of us who have had just one at a time have plenty of experience. 🥰❤️🐹 In fact, I've most likely fooled wee Davy into believing that Im just a giant guinea pig because Im quite good at imitating their vocalizations. I do understand though if you raise more than one together. They are great little friends.
Thank you. I have a 5yo gp who is lonely after her sister passed away a few days ago. I indeed don't want to continue the cycle for now and although I tried hard I didn't find a re-homing for her so I guess she will stay with us until the end poor thing. ❤️
I had a guinea pig that lived alone I adopted him when he was like 5 he was definitely depressed. when he died I got two baby guinea pigs and now there 2 years old and much more happy than him RIP Peanut Butter 2017-2020
I got my piggy Chiko about a year ago. I hadn't planned to get a guinea pig on that day but was planning to get one in the coming future. I was having a really bad day with my mental health feeling like no one wanted me and I went to pets at home to look at the animals and look at products for a future guinea pig. I was looking at this one guinea pig kept on his own and one of the shop workers told me that he was very aggressive towards other guinea pigs and couldn't live with another guinea pig. They said he was also nippy with people and that they couldn't home him to a family and no one wanted him and they were going to send him to a rescue center. I felt like no one wanted me and I looked at this guinea pig that no one wanted and decided there and then that I could not leave him. They told me they would not sell him with another guinea pig so I bought him on his own. I was scared to house him with another guinea pig after what they had told me. I had never had a guinea pig before and had never heard of a similar situation. I was advised by a rescue to wait until he was 6 months old and get a piggy that was younger so he didn't feel threatened. (He was about four months old when I got him.) And during those months before I got him a friend, there were never any visual signs he was distressed. I got him a friend, Miko. And well, I'm just gonna say everything the pet shop saying about him being aggressive and nippy were complete lies. He's vocal yes and a very grumpy guy but he is not aggressive. To be honest, he could not care less about the existence of the other guinea pig except when he decides to mount him, but they get along just fine.
My guinea pig died today and now i only have one, we are going to adopt another but because of covid i feel like i wont be able to get her another friend in time before she gives up :(
My piggy is a 2 yr old male that has lived alone his entire life. I recently got him from a rescue in my area. Before getting him I was 100% planning on getting him a friend, but then the lady that was helping me out and showing him to me said that he has lived alone his entire life and could live a happy full life without one. This was a couple days ago and ever since I cant help but feel so guilty. He is a pretty active little dude and loves his hay and veggies, and gets so excited when he hears the hay bag crinkle. I just cant help but feel he is at least a little bit lonely. I bought a C&C cage big enough for two piggys so I can always get him a friend, but the expert who has known him for longer then I have said he would be happy/be better off without one since he has lived alone all his life. I am so stuck and I really need advice from other people who own these cuties so I know what's best. I want Bean to live the best life!
It is definitely worth getting him a friend. If you have a rescue near where you live, they will help you bond him with another guinea pig. Bondings don't always work but usually it's simply a case of trying another guinea pig as they all have their own personalities. If you have a very dominant guinea pig, he might not like another dominant piggy for example. It's important they have plenty of space to ensure a successful bonding. You might like our video on bonding - we take our guinea pigs to the rescue centre to bond them with a new one th-cam.com/video/m3zJbyK_KzQ/w-d-xo.html
Omg i want pigs again but they require so much care and my hubby is allergic to hay. I had 2 pigs 2 years ago. They both died at the age of 7 years. One died in her sleep. The other one had smth like a heart attack and died on the way to a vet. They are sooooo cute! My favourite pet so far. Good pet for kids as they dont bite like hamsters.
My Guinea pig just passed away and the other one is so cautious like he's doing well but he's not sleeping like he used to like how comfortably he used to lay down. He doesn't know what happened to his cagemate but prolly thinks I've taken away from him :( he's just being so CAUTIOUS rn. Idk what to do. I do want to bring a friend for him but my parents aren't willing to and I'm still can't bring myself to bring another one:(
I am currently facing the hard decision of what’s best for my last remaining piggy. Her previous companion passed away earlier this year and now her sister last night. I love her but also want what’s best for her. She’s over three years of age at the moment. Tough decisions…
Thanks for your suggestion Helen. This is a great suggestion and I'll add it to our list of video ideas! :) Hope you're enjoying the videos and that you find them helpful x
Thank you so much I had a guinea pig that died on Saturday, April 1 and I had no idea what to do about the other one because she was so young I adopted two and one died so I had no idea what to do. I just wanna say thank you cause she was only two years old and the other one was two years to but for some reason she died so thank you you.
I just lost my guinea pig patch he was my emotional support guinea pig he had a cancerous mass in his lungs and he passed away and his brother is left by his self my guinea pig bear also died and now he's alone I don't know what to do I just don't want them to feel replaced.. Also I dont want to give him up... But at the same time it's gonna hurt seeing another guinea pig laying where patch used to be I think I might adopt another one
As a rule, NO guineas must NEVER be alone. Never go into getting a single piggy. But if one of your piggies die and the remainder is elderly, they MAY be okay, but you need to watch for loneliness and then act accordingly.
Recently one of my guinea pig has died and the one i have is very lonely we play with her as much as we can, hang out with her and watch tiktok together she always makes happy noises but i’m thinking of buying another one for her but the thought of replacing the first one after her being the first one we got i don’t know what to do
My piggie is in the process of dying and will be dead by mid day. The other is cuddling her and doesn't want us touching her. They live in the middle of the house and next to a rabbit. I'm wondering how this is going to go down. Update: The remaining piggy has been pop corning and being loud and happy all day. Harsh.
Animal cruelty laws are always just so shocking to me considering how these same noble virtuous countries treat animals in the food industry. That kind of cognitive dissonance is just next level
Agreed. While I always appreciate laws against animal cruelty, it seems too little and quite inconsistent when the same countries promote and regulate animal agriculture.
I just got the news that one of my 2 five year old piggies has only about 2-3 weeks, and i feel bad, but I feel so much worse for the other pig. What should I do?
We rescued two guinea pigs a month ago. The bigger one had bit other guinea pigs where he was living and was guarding food. So the family wanted to rehome him and another GP. We took them in and they were great… until a couple days ago when the other GP fell ill. We took him to the vet and found out he had a brain tumor. He died yesterday :(. We were advised to keep the surviving piggy solo for a month just in case something spreadable happened. After that though I’m not sure what to do. I hesitate to get another GP since this one has been aggressive and bit cage mates in two homes now. But also don’t want him to be alone. He seems quite happy right now by himself. I thought about seeing if we can find a home where he can live next to other GPs. What do you suggest?
Omg somebody help me the other day was Friday the 7, the mom died then the next day on the 8th the ther one stared walking funny, not eating, looking weak then she died b4 the day was gone why was that I wonder???
So im getting a guinea pig but 2 is just too much money, its either 1 or none at all. Do you think it would be fine for me to just have one? The guinea pig would be on my dresser right next to me and i spend 90% of my day in room (excluding school) Yeah yeah i know i should go out more but whatever anyways I would spend alot of time with the guinea pig since y'know i have nothing else to do. I also plan on getting another guinea pig around christmas time. So? Edit: Okay maybe not on the dresser lol, but still close to me
They are always best in a pair. Maybe show your mom this video and she might understand they really need a friend. Also, the cage size you'll need for two is the same as for one (should be at least 4ft x 2ft) so 2 guinea pigs won't take up anymore room in your home.
if one of my guinea pig died and I don't want to get a new one but I don't want my guinea pig to live alone and be lonely, if I give him to a humane shelter will they put him with another guinea pig?
The first piggy I've got, is a girl. Later we found out that guinea pigs need friends we got another one. She was pregnant when we got her, but even the owner who gave her to us didn't know about it. So now we have 4 piggies (2 males, 2 females, instead of two, but we're planning on giving two up for adoptions. Meanwhile, we can't even let them stay together, because the males fight ans they aren't neutered. But they are good neighbours 😂
A cavy of ours died due to a disease, his brother hasn't seemed very fased however when we try introduce him to a potential cage mate, he gets very upset and territorial. He was never like this before his brother died and we haven't been able to get him a cagemate so he's quite lonely :(
Have you tried putting the new guinea pig in a separate cage next to the other one for a few days before putting them in together? Also, upgrading to a larger cage may also help and having 2 of everything (hideys, food bowls, water bottle etc) may help too.
@@GuineaPiggles hey, thanks for the advice :) because of covid it's been really tricky to find piggy however when I find a good looking match, I'll bring him home and try these :)
I have 5 gpigs , one of my pigs has been tried with 8 other pigs , he has a 2x4 c and c cage with toys . He can see the other pigs . We are trying to find a vet that is willing to neutered him
Try to find one who has experience with neutering guinea pigs and don't be afraid to ask them what experience they have with piggies :) Maybe you could ask in some of the guinea pig facebook groups if anyone can recommend one in your area.
Also thanks for understanding many people just jump to conclusions. We have seen him get on to full on fights with 8 other pigs (by fights I mean lock on fights ) . Some of the vets we have talked to say that we are putting him through risk without guaranteed success , and disservise against the idea. Our most local vet has already been out ruled (dispite offering me work experience) as they couldn't pick up on signs of illness ( like halfing his weight in a matter of days and having a cyst ) . They said it wasn't an emergency and gave us an appointment for the next Saturday , we sadley lost him the early hours of saturday .
It's a difficult time at the moment because Covid has made everything so much harder. It's a choice you'll have to make and providing your guinea pig is in good health and you can find a well qualified and experienced vet, neutering could give him the chance of being able to have a female friend/s and live a really happy life. I hope you can find one that you're happy with - let me know how you get on :)
I bought 2 Guinea pigs as my birthday gift 1 of it is lazy and another one was so talented and active all day.. Would you advise just getting a pair, or would 3 be an option? I had 2 boys growing up and am just starting to look into getting some more but not sure if to get 2 or 3. (Or 4) Would 3 boys fight, would girls be better?
3 boys can work but I would strongly advise you go to a rescue and get them to bond the guinea pigs for you to make sure they all get along. It's important they have plenty of space as a small enclosure can lessen the likelihood of a successful bonding. With girls you can have any number of them together providing your enclosure is big enough. But a really lovely setup is a neutered male with however many girls. We have 1 neutered male and 5 girls and they get along brilliantly.
@@GuineaPiggles lovely Thankyou so much. We have our eye on a rescue place that has some make baby brothers in at the moment, so I’ll ask them which they recommend. Or yes maybe I’ll consider a neutered male with females as the enclosure will have plenty of space. Thankyou

I'm really sorry to hear about your guinea pig that passed away :( If you can't get another guinea pig, just make sure you give the one that's left plenty of attention. It's a really difficult decision when you're left with one but I'm sure you'll do what's best for her :)
Even small rabbits can kick very hard and may harm a guinea pig so it's always better to be safe than sorry. Our advice is always not to house them together.
First I would explain to you mum why guinea pigs are best in pairs - maybe show her this video. A single guinea pig can get depressed and very lonely so my advice would be to wait until your mum will allow you to have 2. Single guinea pigs need a lot more attention from their human carer and plenty of enrichment in their cage may help too. Check out this page for more advice guineapiggles.com/can-a-guinea-pig-live-alone
So many things are unnatural , dogs and cats being castrated is unnatural to them , keeping birds inside cages is unnatural , my point Is , so many things are unnatural in the way our pets have to live their life compared to their wild counterparts , surely 2 or more guinea pigs is a better options , but still the unnatural part of the arguiment,in my opinion ,can have some weakness ,considering that any animal living in a humans house lead an unnatural life .
My Lil Fur Baby just passed away today, he was my Lil Mohawk baby, yes I will be getting two more this coming Monday, my Lil Mohawk baby I can never replace him, but I realize I have to get my other Lil Fur Baby another mate, so I will get him two or 3 more this Monday.

Same! I have a baby one and his brother just died :(
Lol! When I played your video and when the guinea pig in your intro squeaked, my guinea pig squeaked as well! It's like they're talking 😝
@@GuineaPiggles Thank you x
And of course if I did get a few guinea pigs, I would want the best for them
Guinea pigs will live if you give them the proper treatment and they will live for about 8 or 10 years, so you won’t need to worry
If you’re guinea pig gets sick/ or looks sick make sure you always check the vet! And they will give you great advice!
And watch a channel called little adventures they should give you excellent information about guinea pigs as well as Scottys animals!
I think your just paranoid. If u just take care of them their fine
Mine is doing fine
Without one
That's such a great idea!
@@GuineaPiggles I’ll try do the same thing thanks for the video
I had two guinea pig and they had a fight. But before they had a fight my guinea pig was pretty sad never seen him popcorn and they were very spoilt and the two I got were apparently a bonded. My guinea pig is so happy now he's popcorning all the time and is so much more happier. I'm not saying your information is wrong and I love that your raising awareness and said that there is cases where the piggy is happier by themselves
Your videos are so helpful I just got my first guinea pig a few days ago and just yesterday I got my guinea pig a new friend! 😍

I notice that there's a lot of misconception especially around boy piggies that they don't need a friend. :(
I totally agree Esmée.

Thank you for the video.
as long as there happy and healthy they should be fine after one dies I think I had 2 boars unfortunately lost one today and the one we still have seems to be doing perfectly fine he's running around and eating still just if one is dieing it's better to put them together so the other one knows what's going on it helped my piggy alot he never left his side so he knows what happened and he's doing good
My piggy will be getting a friend soon so she won't be lonely when I go to school.
It is possible. I had a guinea pig for 7 years alone. He spent one with others and had many fights and wounds
I think Switzerland have got it absolutely right there, a piggy should always have at least one (or ideally several friends!!)
Have you decided to go back to using fleece bedding for the piggies now? The cage looks lovely and colourful. Have a good wheekend x Jemma :-)
Thank you Jemma :) I think it's important to cover all these points because nothing is black and white. I've heard so many stories of people finding out their new piggy is pregnant even when they thought they had a "boy"! :D That must have been really difficult for you to have to give one up but it's a difficult situation when you're faced with a small herd of piggies and of different sexes too! We're using hemp bedding at the moment as some of the footage in this video was shot when we were still using fleece. I think we're going to stick with either hemp or pine shavings but not decided which yet :) Hope you have a great WheekEnd too! x
If one dies and the one that's a still alive and it is young try and get a new one and bond it with your other piggie

He said no so I have to play with them a lot

@@GuineaPiggles yeah
My mom says I can only get one piggy so I’m going to be a master at bonding and taking care of my piggy to convince her to get another
@The pigeon Weirdo it’s fine to get one as long as you spend a lot of time with it.

As a rule, NO guineas must NEVER be alone. Never go into getting a single piggy. But if one of your piggies die and the remainder is elderly, they MAY be okay, but you need to watch for loneliness and then act accordingly.

Animal cruelty laws are always just so shocking to me considering how these same noble virtuous countries treat animals in the food industry. That kind of cognitive dissonance is just next level

So im getting a guinea pig but 2 is just too much money, its either 1 or none at all. Do you think it would be fine for me to just have one? I also plan on getting another guinea pig around christmas time. So?
Edit: Okay maybe not on the dresser lol, but still close to me
I’m scared to get a single guinea pig cause my mom said only one, am I just beating myself up or what? Pls help
They are always best in a pair. Maybe show your mom this video and she might understand they really need a friend. Also, the cage size you'll need for two is the same as for one (should be at least 4ft x 2ft) so 2 guinea pigs won't take up anymore room in your home.
How long should I wait to get another one?
if one of my guinea pig died and I don't want to get a new one but I don't want my guinea pig to live alone and be lonely, if I give him to a humane shelter will they put him with another guinea pig?

The first piggy I've got, is a girl. Later we found out that guinea pigs need friends we got another one. She was pregnant when we got her, but even the owner who gave her to us didn't know about it.
So now we have 4 piggies (2 males, 2 females, instead of two, but we're planning on giving two up for adoptions. Meanwhile, we can't even let them stay together, because the males fight ans they aren't neutered. But they are good neighbours 😂
Would my guinea pig be okay alone for 2 weeks i dont have money till 2 weeks to buy another i dont want her to get sad
Bruh we had only one....

Thank you we have found one who neuteres gpigs regularly and has suggested it to us , covid has prevent plans from going ahead .
Thank you , I think we will wait till next spring and hopefully covid will be more under control

Thankyou

@@GuineaPiggles I’m 18 && I’m really not doing anything right now.. like I don’t have a job && I’m not in school right now.. so with all my extra time.. could I use it to make sure my piggy doesn’t get lonely?? I will buy another one in December or January but for now I want just one.. the one piggy is to let me know if I’m a good piggy mom or not.. becuz if not I will give her up to a family that has more pigs && is more than willing to take care of her so she can be happy.. but if I am.. then I want a group of 4 piggy’s && a big connector cage..

Hey!! I was thinking on getting two guinea pigs but i go to school. Can you leave your guinea home alone if all your family goes to work?
Yes, that is fine - just make sure they have loads of hay as they need to graze on it throughout the day. Also make sure they have plenty of water and that they are housed in a safe environment. I'm really sorry to hear about your guinea pig that passed away :( If you can't get another guinea pig, just make sure you give the one that's left plenty of attention. It's a really difficult decision when you're left with one but I'm sure you'll do what's best for her :)
One of my guinea pigs died and I don't know why they died
Sorry to hear that - it's always sad when they pass away. Sometimes they just die of old age and other times we don't know why.
My dad won’t let me get more than one 😏🥺
So are you saying having one guinea pig is ok you just have to pay attention to her or he more?
We always recommend a pair as they are social animals :)
@@GuineaPiggles Thank you for the information i will get a pair thanks again! :)

Coco. Die some how I don’t know what happened to her neck was weird
what if my sister have small rabbit (smaller than gunea pig) he is going to hurt her?
Even small rabbits can kick very hard and may harm a guinea pig so it's always better to be safe than sorry. Our advice is always not to house them together.
My guniea pig died 2 days ago 😢😭
I am Only getting one guinea pig
My ginea pig died
Hello
I'm getting my first guinea pig tommorow but my mom wont let me get 2 of them right now do you know what I can do to keep him/her from being lonely?
First I would explain to you mum why guinea pigs are best in pairs - maybe show her this video. A single guinea pig can get depressed and very lonely so my advice would be to wait until your mum will allow you to have 2. Single guinea pigs need a lot more attention from their human carer and plenty of enrichment in their cage may help too. Guinea pigs are not sapost to be alon becuas if they get to sad then it will die😮
My guinea pig die because she have no female and i cried because i love her so much
So many things are unnatural , dogs and cats being castrated is unnatural to them , keeping birds inside cages is unnatural , my point Is , so many things are unnatural in the way our pets have to live their life compared to their wild counterparts , surely 2 or more guinea pigs is a better options , but still the unnatural part of the arguiment,in my opinion ,can have some weakness ,considering that any animal living in a humans house lead an unnatural life .
Tf is this.
