I just finished my ELPAT a few hours ago. Everything is exactly like in the video, and as others have said they show you this exact video when you show up. To ease some of your minds, if you consider yourself to be in okay shape then you will pass this test. You don't need to be able to run a marathon to do this. For you bigger guys your muscles won't help you much at all for any of the exercises, so incorporate some more cardio into your workouts. If you are especially small or especially big then this test may prove to be humbling. When you show up you wait in line above the testing area and you watch people test for like an hour. You get to see people do it over and over, it almost feels like you've done it already before you do it . For specific advice: Stair climb: Just walk up the stairs. Don't run there's no extra points for getting 1st place. It's pass fail. Literally just walk up and down the stairs. Ladder event: It's quick yes but it's not super quick. Just sprint in between and you will make the time. I actually had to run back over cause my ladder was out of the yellow markers, even with the extra sprint I still passed, and I'm not the quickest. I wish I had brought gloves for the rope but it was fine. Hose Drag: Honestly people over hyped this one, just crawl through and don't stop. It won't gas you out. This will only be hard if you're an especially small person. When you get to the end just face the hose, you'll get more leverage that way pulling it out. Forcible Entry: this is the one it seemed everyone passed (most people passed everything). Just whack it! Gloves would've helped here too. Search: this is not a maze, it's a one way tunnel. Put your hand on the wall and crawl through, there is a part when you have to crawl over a 6 inch bump. Don't mistake that for a wall, make sure to feel around so you don't miss it. (I didn't miss it, though I had heard stories). Rescue: Kind of awkward but you just pull the thing through. Most of the more fit applicants flew threw this in 15 seconds, you get like 30+ seconds to do it, why rush? Ceiling hook: yes its tiring but I guarantee once you start you'll realize it looks heavier than it is. Use your legs in this, you can literally just squat with the bar and it will go up and down. If you're doing it right the pumping motion should feel like a breeze. All comes from your legs. Hope this helps, I'll answer questions, but to be honest I'm writing this to give people confidence that this test is not as hard as the commenters may lead you to believe!! Go in with a positive attitude and think of it as an involuntary weird CrossFit exercise!
Just passed this today. A few tips: 1) Stair climb: Walk up and run down. You have plenty of time. Use the hand rails on the way down to go faster. Return two items at a time and you’ll easily have 3 minutes to rest. 2) Ladder: HAUL ASS. Of all the events I’d say this is the most time sensitive. Just be very aware of placement in the box and run between spots. 3) Hose Drag: Go as wide as possible and try to snap the hose forward to get as far into the bend before you start to really feel the resistance. You have plenty of time. Wear knee pads. 4)Door Breach: Super easy. The give you 15 seconds but honestly people do it in like 4. Just make sure you’re gripping down enough to get good leverage and swing with the body and not just the arms. 5) Search/maze: Again super easy. They give you 50 seconds but at a slow speed you’re doing it in 20. Just put your right hand on the middle of the side wall and you can’t not find your way out. Use this time to catch your breath. 6)Rescue/ body drag: Gotta be quick but not crazy fast. Pretty straight forward. Just be aware of placement so you don’t get caught up on corners. It’s light enough that you can just muscle it if necessary. 7) Overhaul/Pull Down: actually easier than it looks. By the time you get here you’re gassed. For the lift part, make sure you’re not under the door but rather at a 45° to it and just use the hips. For the pull down, grab as high as possible and just let your body weight bring it down. Don’t pull down with your upper body muscle. Aim for 8 reps the first minute and it’ll be cake after that. If you start a rep but don’t finish it when the one minute mark passes, they will let you finish it, so move quick to lift the plate if you feel the time is coming up. Eat a good well rounded breakfast 3 hours before the test. Don’t pound a bunch of water as that will bloat you. Lastly, Adrenalin will take you far in this. Be aware you’ll get real hitters before it’s go time. Rude it out and you’ll do fine. No matter what, don’t quit.
Hi Chris. Tou took yours in Mass? Do we get any rest between each event? How long do we gwt for completing the entire thing from start to finish rest included?
@@ostop5353 yes in mass. There’s no breaks between events except for the rest period after the stair climb. You’ll do fine. I completed events with a ton of time. Just listen to the tips they give you on preview day.
@@christophergaboury5930is it possible for someone out of shape to pass? I’m recovering from a health issue so I haven’t been able to prepare as much as I’d like
@@Westie_714 I suppose that depends on the condition you were in prior to your injury. It’s challenging. I know people that prepared and still took multiple attempts. If you were in good shape prior and you didn’t lose a lot of your conditioning then you should be fine.
For any females taking this test: Make sure you are lifting heavy so you are building strength (upper & lower body). For cardio, I would suggest running up and down the stairs in your house or using the stairmaster if your gym has one. You can also do HIIT workouts to build up your endurance and/or sprints on the treadmill or outside. I trained for 3 months and I was still very winded after all of this! Don't be intimidated by ANY of the events because you CAN pass them all if you push yourself when it starts to get tough.
Elizabeth Machado I’ve always been someone who worked out, but when quarantine started, I didn’t have the gym and I wasn’t consistent w/home workouts, so 2.5-3 months before the exam, I started getting back into working out...slowly! But I would say I was pretty athletic prior to that, yes.
Got the call for my town FD. Did this over a year ago. You must be in shape for this. I watched 2 people fail due to exhaustion, puking and almost passing out. This is the exact video they show you prior to the PAT. Cardio and endurance training should be your focus, some strength but not too much required. It’s more a draining fatigue training. I train mma and wrestle. I was in the middle of a training camp for a tournament and got thru this no problem. It was light work and I went to practice afterwards. Not bragging just giving you an idea of where you need to be for this to be done quickly, with not much fatigue and get a high score. Get thru the events quickly, it pays to be a winner that’s all I’ll say. They want to see you do well, don’t show up cold off the couch. It’s disrespectful to the people working the facility, running the training, other people taking the test. Most importantly have some self respect and take care of your health, don’t be that guy/gal. Good luck to everyone.
Just took the exam today. Got 6/7 in terms of score with my only downfall coming from the last event, needing 24 reps and I got 22 reps. The course is challenging, and is harder than it looks! Be sure to be over prepared for the test, the ladder event goes very fast so be sure to get that one done quickly, the rest I recommend pacing yourself. The last event I would recommend only shooting for 6 reps per 1 minute interval. In the last 1 minute interval, go all out and shoot for more than 6. Bring water, and if you would like to then bring knee pads. Good luck to everyone!
I passed my ELPAT last week as well! For the last event I will beast mode during the first 2 rounds for 8 reps each and then i started to wind down for the last 2 sets. But by the time my last round came I only needed 2 more which was a huge relief!
@@longjonz88 Good work! unfortunately I didn't have the confidence that I would even make it as far as I did in the entire hiring process so I was not in shape. But starting today I am working out and making sure I can ace it!
@@pikin2 once you have the vest and helmet on you can take it off while performing the course. However, you do have the option to keep it on as well if you’d prefer.
Endurance is key! Focus on Endurance!! I passed mine with 12 seconds to spare. Tougher than looks. Gotta pump yourself up through out the course. The instructors are awesome they wanna see you succeed.
@@longjonz88 Here is something similar i did to train for this, workout your shoulders Mon/Wed/Fri, I did cardio/leg Tuesday and Thursdays and rested the weekend. And if you are a busy person just incorporate the cardio in the Mon/Tue/Fri training.
Hey Alex, I just passed my ELPAT today! Passed every single event. I agree with you that it definitely is harder than it looks and that your endurance needs to be on point. The instructors were awesome and they were really supportive of everyone. I was pretty gassed by the time I got to the ceiling hook event but I powered through and by the last round I only had to do 2 reps to complete the 24 sets needed. Huge relief. I ran stairs and did battle ropes to get my cardio ready for this
I just passed my ELPAT today! A few thoughts that come to mind is definitely get your cardio shape on point! Muscular endurance is the key. I'm not talking about slow jogs all the time but rather HIIT training (high intensity interval training) such as battle ropes, running hills, running stairs, and wind sprints. obviously you want to throw in some steady jogging but imho the bread and butter to whip yourself into shape and get your lungs working nicely is the intense interval training. Also, stretching is very very crucial especially the day before and the day of. You want your quads, hamstrings, calves, and groin/hips area to be very loose. Also I would highly recommend stopping all physical training at least 3-4 days out from your ELPAT and focus on CARB loading because believe me you will need all that glycogen to get you through. Other than that the test is not impossible but you can't just show up out of shape and expect to BS your way through it, I know some folks might be able to but for the most part, train hard for it and you'll be fine. And when the going gets tough, mental toughness is everything! Just power through and don't give up no matter what. Good luck
recently took this test a few months ago and would like to share advice. endurance is CRUCIAL. pace yourself from the very beginning and prepare beforehand(running specifically). i managed to get through every event quickly minus the last one (the ceiling hook event). i was already gassed, didnt pace myself in the other events, and ultimately didnt have enough endurance to finish it, however i later got my results and received a 98 so regardless, not finishing one event will not ruin it for you. overall, build your endurance and strength beforehand, and remember to pace yourself and you should be okay. also would suggest either wearing pants and or bringing knee pads, i managed to rip a chunk of skin off my knees due to some of the events requiring one knee on the ground. anyways best of luck to future candidates, you got this!
I just passed my ELPAT today and everything you said is exactly on point! Passed all 7 events thankfully. I probably could have paced myself a little bit better but adrenaline was pumping and my mindset was to just go balls to the wall to survive haha. I flew through the stairs event because of nerves but I did get a 3 minute break which was nice but by the end I definitely was gassed. I just muscled through it and mental toughness played a key for sure. I was not going to fail no matter what. I ended up only needing 2 more repts by the time I got to the last round which was a huge relief!
@@DapperSapper515 the maze was fairly simple. when you get in, it will be pitch black, the instructor should tell you to put one hand on the side wall and there you will feel a small ledge on the wall to guide your way through it. whatever you do, do not do a 360 and turn around, keep your hand on that ledge that you’ll feel the entire time and you should be good, the instructor will also tell you what to expect before you even start, best of luck!
@@longjonz88 congratulations! and yeah pacing yourself is everything, i was the same way when i started the stairs, i flew through the event and once i was done, i was like oh boy i need to catch my breath. luckily you had 3 minutes to rest. regardless, congrats on passing and share any advice you have with future candidates!
Just passed this test yesterday, Honestly it’s not as bad as people say it is if you experience physical trauma before like hence playing for sports teams or going to the gym, this will be no problem. I will say though in terms of the maze part it’s easy just stick to the left side and hold one hand or both hands on the walls and you’ll find your way, look for the light at the end of the maze and you got it!!!!
@@eringlavin1063 no but I got an email with my date for the written exam. Apparently we won’t get our numerical score until the written portion is taken.
@@Mcjesus97 A bunch of people. you go in and get your temp taken and blood pressure for some reason. they make you watch a ten minute video then you wait for them to call you to start.
Just passed yesterday 12/22/23, went 7/7. I gotta say though, as a "gymrat" who thought this was gonna be a breeze, it's much harder than it looks and I thought it was going to be. If you aren't training for strength and endurance, you definitely should get yourself to a gym ASAP. It's doable, but really the only rest you have is after the first Stair's event, and after that you get minimal (30-60 seconds) rest before the remaining activities. Tips: Don't gas yourself in the Stair's event. You need to try and save yourself for the final event, the "Overhaul" event. The overhaul event is by far the most strenuous, you will be tired before beginning and you need to get 24 reps to pass it. I got 6 reps every set, I really pushed myself mentally to get through it. For reference, I'm a male, 5'5, and 160lbs. I'm quite strong for my size from bodybuilding/powerlifting, but being short here definitely made it harder. There were some tall guys over 6' that flew through this event because they could practically touch the ceiling to begin with HAHA. The maze was fun and was a breeze. You get 50 seconds, it took me 30, and I thought I was going slow when I was in the depths of the dark. Put your right hand on the wall and do a up/down waving motion and just plow forward, at no point will you be turned around, it's basically a one-way path you just have to navigate corners and small bumps. The ladder event is the MOST time sensitive. I think you get 35 seconds to complete it, it took me 32. And I RAN. It's fairly easy to do, you just have to be quick. The hose drag I'd say is also one of the harder ones. You can't really tell in the video but at the two corners you go around the hose gets extremely tight and hard to pull. Thankfully, I'm an aggressive fucker, and I made it through. Be aggressive around the corners and throw that thing forward. When you get to the end turn and face the hose and pull it like a row, instead of what they show in the video pushing it forward. (you are allowed to do it any way you'd like and pulling will be faster than pushing) Hopefully this helped any of you. Feel free to ask me any specific questions. This is a challenge of your mental toughness. You can do it. Believe in yourself and tell yourself you got this, that's literally the only reason I got 24 reps on overhaul. I was GASSED by my 4th set but knew I only needed 6 more reps, I forgot about everything and went crazy!
@@d.annashin346 No problem, good luck! I was there with a good 15-20 people, but only 2-3 go at a time, each person doing an event ahead of the other. An instructor will take you and that will be the same instructor that's with you throughout your turn with the events. They push you and want you to do good
hose drag is probably the most difficult thing to do, cardio and weight training definitely recommended if you wanna do well. a lot harder than it looks but if you push yourself you’ll get through it.
@@eringlavin1063 No, It is only two stations you have to pass...and it combines with your written score...Now that is just to get on the list, However if you do end up getting hired you must pass all stations but you get two shots at it.
I just finished my test, the best advice I have is either be ready to thought it out or get a good set of knee pads. I got some 15 dollar ones that ended up sliding down and doing nothing I felt the pain at first but push thought. I didn't realize I was bleeding some till I got into my car to go home. Hardest is the end event, just thought it out I did 8, 7, 6, 3. Make sure you do contact on the first part of the set, on my last nine I had to do the first part over on atleast of 6 them
Just finished taking this physical exam I’ll have to agree that it’s a lot harder then what it looks, if you’re not physically prepared for this you WILL fail. Definitely prepare yourself. At first I was a little nervous about the maze but don’t get Intimidated by it, just have your right hand stretched out all the way to the right and follow the walls. The last part was a killer for me so just watch out for your body try to pace yourself. I ended up passing feeling like I could Of done a lot better but I’m glad I made it through. Good luck to everyone taking this test!
When you say the last part was a killer, do you mean the last part of the maze? Also was it completely pitch black in there? I’m prepping for the test myself
Had mine today, kneepads definitely helped, I will say they are a must. After the first event I got to rest for 3 minutes, rest felt very intense and nonstop. I couldn't finish my last two sets on the last event. But I think I did very good on the other events. Train for endurance, I've been going to the gym for about 4 months and focused more on weight training than endurance even if everyday I ran and climbed stairs. It was very challenging but nothing compares to the last event. I was very nervous about the maze one and I did that in about 10s, just feel with one arm and keep moving, don't ever stop just move forward, once you see the light at the end of the tunnel you feel certain relief. Good luck out there to anybody who takes it.
@@wilson4180 I held on the left side and sometimes on the right side, when I couldn't feel anything on the right side I just kept holding the left side. It felt more daunting than it was
@@DapperSapper515 it was too dark to tell, there could've been some dead end that I luckily missed. Once you are inside everything is almost pitch black but you can sense where a light is coming from in front of you, I remember at one point holding my arm to the wall and then feeling nothing for a bit so I guess that was a dead end. I was more scared to fail it than the darkness and whatnot, and it turned out to be the easiest, with kneepads that is.
Smoke checked that test today- had minor stumbles but passed all stations. On first event, take the items down two at a time when you're done. That'll give you ample time to rest/get your heart rate down before ladder event (if you fail ladder event somethings wrong with you). Another tip would be for the drag event , don't just hold the rope to pull. I found it way easier to grab the top of the seabag and to drag the weight that way. On the blackout tunnel , there's a part where you gotta climb over a piece of wood (few inches tall). I assumed at first that it was a barrier you couldn't pass. For ceiling hook, I first made mistake of choking up too high on pole and wasting strength to lift- instead spread your hands out and use entire pole for leverage. If you're a smoker, put down the butts/vape for a couple weeks or else youll be in for a long day. Also rub one out or get a bj the night prior to get your mind right
Just finished mine today. What ill say is anyone can do it ya just really gotta push yourself. Im not even in the best of shape and i came out on top. know when to not gas yourself out. I wore knee pads and it DEFINITELY helped me for the hose advance and rescue event. Try and save as much energy as you can for the final test and keep the hose high on the advance, the second turn is a killer.
That second turn wiped me out of the game- it would NOT budge no matter how hard I pulled! My ego was definitely bruised (and so was my left knee lol).
What do you mean keep the hose high? I did it once with it over my shoulder and it worked but was too hard. I've been practicing at the gym with it across my hips and side crawling which is a good power move for me
Took the exam earlier this week. Scored a 7/7. Im 5”7 195 pounds and not exactly lean but not fat either and goto the gym at least 3 days a week with little cardio involved. If you know you are extremely out of shape you need to start hitting the gym months before hand. I saw two people throw up. One was a very large man and the other was a skinny guy. Personally I’ve never thrown up doing anything physical since I wrestled and played rugby in high school and college. Control your breathing throughout the test and haul ass except for the first event. Walk up the stairs and run down. The instructors are very helpful and I’d recommend asking questions before you start an event if you think you can do something easier for you but doesn’t break any rules. IE not crawling for maze
Just knocked this test out, the test happens exactly as this video shows, you actually watch this video again before the test starts, administrators are really pulling for you
Just did mines today. Could not get past the last event! I was too winded. So my advice to you would be to get your cardio up! If your stamina is not on point you will fail. I am by no means a fat dude at all and have worked out all my life but always struggled with stamina! Happy to answer any questions
How were the in between rest times? Did they give breaks in between? I’m going for my MA ELPAT in 2 weeks and I work construction now with a ton of daily activities that simulate these and I feel confident in my ability to complete all tasks just wondering if there is some downtime in between the tests. I feel more confident with a couple minutes in between each test
@@gunzgaming8201 nope the only rest time is when they give u the 5 minutes to return all the equipment down the stairs. If u finish that before 5 minute than you have the remainder to sit down. Pretty much once you finish an event you move on to the next one without a break. so basically the rest time is around 30 seconds while you walk to the next event and they explain the process of the next event
I just took my test today and wow you were right! I completed all tasks but the last one I missed by 1 rep, I completed 6 reps in the first 3 and than only 5 on the last one.
Passed everything!! The hose drag definitely was harder than it looked i didnt go wide enough and was fighting those corners. It was definitely harder than it looked but this can all be done if you push yourself. Good luck everyone.
Couple tips…pace yourself in first event, no need to rush with the amount of your given…take the corners wide in hose drag so you won’t lose momentum…keep one hand on the wall in search event. Everything else is straightforward
To add to previous experience comments; I, as well, just took this today. Though my instructors told me the amount of time or reps I had and passed them all, it was still a difficult test. The most important thing is endurance. Make sure you are fastly pacing yourself and are able to lift/drag/carry 40-50 pounds for multiple reps at a time with only 30-90 second rest periods
Just took it in 2024! Harder than the video shows, but not impossible! Make sure you pace yourself, there is no breaks unless you have time after the first event is over. good luck to all any questions feel free to ask!
I saw a guy in front of my just quit. The instructor was telling him to just continue. He was actually trying to get the kid to keep going, but he refused. He simply quit. I never understand that.
@@kingsijm3053 honestly i think if you can run 2 miles you can do its all cardio but if your not in shape jus pace yourself and mentally learn the events so you can beat it smart...
I thought that was the best part because in my mind it’s just like power through this and your done. Did 9,9,7 in three rounds. Did you get your score results or do we have to wait? I know I passed it but just want to know the numerical score.
I just did it today. To be honest i Was pretty nervous. But. If you work out and stay in shape it should be pretty straightforward. The instructors are verry nice and want you to pass and i highly suggest getting there early for the walthrough and ask questions!
It was the bag drag that got me, I'm in fair shape not prime shape but not terrible, and it felt like it was way heavier then 120lbs, super nervous I gotta take this again if I get hired this month which I might.
CARDIO, CARDIO, CARDIO. HIIT and strength training will come in handy in preparing for this exam. The exam takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete and you will get only very small rest periods between activities. For the obstacle courses, you have to move extremely fast--think sprinters off the starting gun. Save enough energy for the ceiling pull down simulator which is the final and imo most challenging exercise. The best thing you can do is learn how to leverage your own body weight and not rely solely on arm strength.
Took it yesterday and was exhausted after. I am in decent shape but my cardio wasn’t the greatest. CARDIO.... CARDIO..... CARDIO! It will help with everything and then arm and leg strength. I would suggest having a strategy before and bring gloves and knee pads if you want
This test broke me off lol be prepared for cardio endurance all the way through. Expect you won’t receive more than 20 seconds to catch your breath in between events with the exception of the break given to you after the stair climb event
Hopefully everybody is starting to do their written exams. I just did mine today! Good luck everyone! Hopefully I’ll know if I passed soon. I’ll update once I know.
I'm doing this on Monday morning. I'm a little nervous but confident. Not in the greatest shape, but I aint no slouch. Only thing that gives me pause is the last event. Wish me luck!

I passed. Just pushed myself. It is more exhausting than you think. Work on endurance and legs. As long as you know you can push yourself then you will do fine
It’s this exact test. But the video doesn’t emphasize that you gotta MOVE . Pace yourself in the first round to a point but you gotta hustle. Weight of vest your wearing the entire test is about 20 pounds. Good luck!
Jon Ponte do you have the stair master drill on the test because I didn’t see it on here if so what speed and how long, I’ve been doing 9 minutes straight on speed 7 without touching the railing so I hope it’s around that time
@@kelvin-ho8xh There’s no stair master now, but what you have been doing will definitely help with the rest of the test. Leg endurance is a key for this.
No. 6 items up in 2mins 53 sec, return all 6 items in a 5 minute cool down. After you head to the ladder. Then after is a straight shot for the next 5 events. Cardio
Don’t worry too much about the maze, keep a hand on the wall and keep moving. You’ll be out before you know it. Also keep your eyes open, people tend to close their eyes in there for some reason.

No they walk you through it and they'll likely show you this video again before you start. Its a good idea though to be familiar with what you're going to encounter so you can prep for it
No they don’t but I recommend to stop because this is way harder then it then the video looks and it’s mostly upper body strength and endurance and you barely get a break between events. And what makes it more difficult is the weighted vest. I just finished the event today so be physically prepared
You’ll pass if your relatively in shape, but to stand out you have to be physically fit and find new limits. Oh and on the pike pole don’t be afraid to whale on it. Become a absolute maniac psychopath and you’ll stand out.
Took it yesterday! A lot harder than it actually looks. But it’s definitely doable. You ju ST really need to push yourself. And I wanted to ask. When do you get your results? They never said that I passed but both instructors said great job and that I didn’t have to do anything else. Good luck everybody!

Stair climb: Just walk up the stairs.
Thanks for the detailed info this was super helpful. Are you allowed to bring kneepads and gloves?

Just passed this today. A few tips:
1) Stair climb: Walk up and run down.

Do they still have a practice day?
For any females taking this test: Make sure you are lifting heavy so you are building strength (upper & lower body). For cardio, I would suggest running up and down the stairs in your house or using the stairmaster if your gym has one. You can also do HIIT workouts to build up your endurance and/or sprints on the treadmill or outside. I trained for 3 months and I was still very winded after all of this! Don't be intimidated by ANY of the events because you CAN pass them all if you push yourself when it starts to get tough.

I ran stairs and did battle ropes to get my cardio ready for this
@@longjonz88 congrats brother!!🔥🙏
Took mine today. Very respectful and professional instructors.
You do however have to pass all 7 events when you get hired.
How was the maze? Was it one route? Or did it have multiple dead ends? That’s the only one I’m nervous for lol… 😂

(you are allowed to do it any way you'd like and pulling will be faster than pushing)
Hopefully this helped any of you.
So helpful! Thank you!
How many people are usually testing together in a group at the same time? :)

Thank you, this comment just lower my anxiety of this
That second turn wiped me out of the game- it would NOT budge no matter how hard I pulled!
I’d recommend running at least one mile every workout too for cardio endurance

@@gunzgaming8201 nope the only rest time is when they give u the 5 minutes to return all the equipment down the stairs. If u finish that before 5 minute than you have the remainder to sit down.

Only break you have is the walk to the next event
Thanks. Good thing I stopped smoking.
I'm doing this on Monday morning. I'm a little nervous but confident.
Not in the greatest shape, but I aint no slouch. Only thing that gives me pause is the last event. Wish me luck!
How’d it go I have mine Thursday
@juanzapata6082 Passed everything. Don't underestimate the stairs. Took more out of me than I anticipated. Everything after that wasn't too bad. But I will answer whatever questions you have
@@kevinscott3047 how much does the vest that they give you weigh?
@@KAH556 About 25 pounds
@@kevinscott3047 thanks man congratulations on passing, one more question. How long were you there for and what time did they make you show up?
I Just did mine and passed it 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
One of my biggest issues in the hose pull was my feet and knees kept slipping and I couldn't get any grip. Any suggestions?
Hello, I want to improve my fitness because I will be a firefighter. What are the training tips for me as a firefighter? How many weights do you use in your training and what are the standards approved by you? Thank you.
Hello, I am wondering what weights are used in the exercise, how many kilograms
? ..
Just go in with mentality that you will not fail. Definitely have to push yourself after the 1st event. My best advice to anyone would be to buy p90x3 and do it for at least 30 days if you dont exercise.
I’m taking this tomorrow. Any advice I only weigh 120 and I’m 5 ft. I’ve been training for a few months. I’m hoping it’s not impossible for me 🥴
How did you do ?
I passed. My average score for the written and ELPAT was 95.
@@dinovr7959 nice job ! Congrats
update?
Can anyone tell me how much the weighted vest and the weighted bag for the drag event both weigh?? Thankyou
Got mine in 2 weeks any tips guys? I know physically fit.
Are you In shape?
@ yes tip top shape. I run 8km every week.
took mine today 3pm im 6'1" 270 been an athlete my whole life trained 4-5 months for this running lifting etc it was challenging i definitely was tired when it was over but couldve kept going everyone is different though 2 guys half my size couldnt finish the last event with the second guy not even attempting it i went 7/7 u only need to pass 2/7 do not strive for 2/7 as i believe these scores are ur resume for application the instructors will literally give u cheat codes for each event hint hint they work i could give u a legit roadmap of the exam but i feel the fear of the unknown will make u perform better u will see people doing it live youve seen the video already its no different just gotta meet hard work with opportunity at this point goodluck sir smash it
Idk I feel I could do this test with no training
This video helped a lot, I scored 7/7.
How long did it take to get your score?
Hey guys thanks for the comments!Taking mine tomorrow is knee pads the way to go?
I think I passed not totally sure tho the only event I didn’t do was the last one cause I puked be in shape the guy grading my paper said I passed and you only need to complete and pass 2 events has anyone heard anything about this
Can anyone update here when they get their test scores? Took the written test a few weeks back and so curious on my scores for both.
Results are out! I hope everybody did well!
ended up passing with a near perfect score but don’t see my name on the list lol not too sure if anyone else if having the same issue
NL Steez these are still the lists from 2018, the 2020 list will be released March 15th!

I know that I passed all 7 but have not gotten an email with my official results, has anyone else gotten results?
is this the exam you take a couple weeks after the written civil service exam?
Yes
Have my test tomorrow I’m so nervous!!!
I have mine today in about 4 hours. Pretty nervous but hope to do well. I will tell you how I do afterwards
How did u do?
I passed. Just pushed myself. It is more exhausting than you think. Work on endurance and legs. As long as you know you can push yourself then you will do fine
Did anyone get there results yet? I heard its out.
Nothing yet I’m still waiting for mine. I took the PAT in September and the written in November. I’m hoping they release the results soon!
@@maxtuk4530 they just emailed it out today, what did ya get?

Does anyone know if the search event is an actual maze or only one route?
One route just keep ether the left or right hand on the wall and dont let go
How long did you have to wait to get the results? It says 24 hours, but I haven't heard anything in over 2 weeks...
Was wondering the same thing, it’s been 5 day’s since I took the test and I haven’t received an email yet. Did this happen to anyone else?
They won't send results until after the written I took both tests 2 yrs ago its a long wait
yeah i took it last week, still haven’t gotten anything regarding test scores or when the written exam will be
Will they do this exact test or are they going to switch and replace activities? My test is oct 28th thanks for this video guys huge help!!
It’s this exact test. But the video doesn’t emphasize that you gotta MOVE . Pace yourself in the first round to a point but you gotta hustle. Weight of vest your wearing the entire test is about 20 pounds. Good luck!
Jon Ponte do you have the stair master drill on the test because I didn’t see it on here if so what speed and how long, I’ve been doing 9 minutes straight on speed 7 without touching the railing so I hope it’s around that time
There is no stair master. The events are the same as the video.
@@kelvin-ho8xh There’s no stair master now, but what you have been doing will definitely help with the rest of the test. Leg endurance is a key for this.
@@itwaslikethatalready awesome sounds good I go next Wednesday
What city/town y’all testing for? Im Boston
Anyone remember the weight of the vest ?
Anyone took the test recently ?.
Yuh Jan 3rd 2023
@@noellthomas381 nice how did you do ?
Took mine end of November. Passed all events
is it not stair master anymore?
No. 6 items up in 2mins 53 sec, return all 6 items in a 5 minute cool down. After you head to the ladder. Then after is a straight shot for the next 5 events. Cardio
lincoln humphrey is 2m53s the goal?
@@arose2639 it’s the time to beat
The maze is the only thing I’m weary of I don’t think I’m claustrophobic but that looks like it can be stressful
I took the test last week, the maze goes by very fast and isn’t as bad as it seems you’ll do great
Don’t worry too much about the maze, keep a hand on the wall and keep moving. You’ll be out before you know it. Also keep your eyes open, people tend to close their eyes in there for some reason.
Thanks guys!
@@lukegrasso7924any tips? Also is it one route or are there multiple dead ends? 😂

Pretty cool! Should do it packs on tho
so you only need to pass 2 stations to pass the ELPAT? Also if you fail, do you have to wait until the following year to retest or are there retest dates available prior to the eligibility list coming out?
You want to pass all 7 events so your score will be higher.
not as easy as it seems make sure ur doing strength training and your cardio is at least ok
Wow good thing my buddy sent me this i was expecting the old test. Took that twice. Would’ve been fucked going to this expecting just a stair master for a few minutes. luckily i already did the interview for revere off the 2018 test, but taking this test to be safe
So the stair master is no longer a test you’re evaluated on? I remember seeing that in a video like this lol 😂
Did anyone get the results back yet
Not yet. Only a verbal confirmation once I finished the test.
@Brandon Foley just got the date for the written test in Newton in a week and a half. Hopefully after that the numbers will come fairly quick. The correctional officer exam scores came out in like a few weeks after I took that test. We shall see!
Thanks for this updated video. Also is this what the course now looks like?
I wondered that too considering the Hudson location looks nothing like this lol
@@Juliansamaa Never seen the Hudson location but yeah the videos before this one were from like the 80s lol
@@Juliansamaa Are you taking the test in August?
eric houtman yea, everything from that video you saw was exactly how it was but I guess now they’ve changed the events a bit from the 2018 ELPAT. I’ll be taking it again this August or whenever they send me the email.
@@Juliansamaa aghh I see. Yeah I just got the email today. They are doing ELPAT first then written. Dont they usually do the written first. Guessing because of Covid19
Anyone got their results for the ELPAT ??
They said 24 hours but haven’t gotten mine yet. I know I passed but definetly would be nice to see a number. A lot of other people on here said they haven’t gotten theirs either.
Jon Ponte yeah thats what i was told too but still haven’t received or heard anything

Hey man taking this tomorrow, any advice? Anxiety’s through the roof about it haha.
@@FezzyTheKidd bring knee pads! Let me know any specific questions though
How much does the vest weigh?
@@Bronco4L 25lbs and stays on the entire time. Starts off with the stair station...after that you'll catch a small break.. but that is the only break you'll get until it's over. Just pace yourself and you'll be fine..remember, most stations are not timed (only pass/fail), so it's not worth getting gassed out. Show up an hour early and get the walk through, its worth it.
Thank you!
How many hits did it take you guys on the forceable hammer hits ?
It takes people around 10 good hits

do you have to have the courses semi-memorized before you go?
No they walk you through it and they'll likely show you this video again before you start. Its a good idea though to be familiar with what you're going to encounter so you can prep for it
@@firemedic-86 ok, thank you so much! i really appreciate your response before my test!
Do they drug test at this event ?
No they don’t but I recommend to stop because this is way harder then it then the video looks and it’s mostly upper body strength and endurance and you barely get a break between events. And what makes it more difficult is the weighted vest. I just finished the event today so be physically prepared
You’ll pass if your relatively in shape, but to stand out you have to be physically fit and find new limits. Oh and on the pike pole don’t be afraid to whale on it. Become a absolute maniac psychopath and you’ll stand out.
