On his self-titled debut album, produced by and featuring William Tyler, Georgia-bred singer and guitarist Jake Xerxes Fussell-student of Piedmont blues legend Precious Bryant and sideman to Rev. John Wilkins-transmutes ten arcane folk/blues tunes into vibey cosmic laments and crooked riverine rambles. Crack(ed) Nashville session vets Chris Scruggs (Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Marty Stuart), Brian Kotzur (Silver Jews), and Hoot Hester (Ray Charles, Bill Monroe) crew the push boat.

Jake, Mr. Fussell, you are an Americana treasure. Thank you so much for your heart and soul art. I hope we get to see you somewhere around Atlanta soon. -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
I have listened to this a 1000 times, sung with it, and smiled all the way through it. A great great song.
Same here! ;)
workin' on it (the 1,000 listens). music from heaven.
This song marks an extreme moment in my life. I will never forget it.
What was it, if I might ask?
Received this album as a gift for my 2 year old daughter. I can't decide which one of us likes it more. We sing it together in the car every day. It's a beautiful recording. Love it to pieces.
The progression of this song played by him has evolved into a true masterpiece. I admire every state of the growth and development.
well I had myself a dram and remembered Jake's performance in Buffalo, NY so beautiful
I can’t figure out why I like this so much but I love it.
@@kman55w Your comment is really harsh. For knowing the original song, this is a beautiful cover. The acoustic and the voice of Jake is a great addition to this rythme. And I personally love it to. Plus it's a good way to keep those old songs, forgotten by time, to have a second life.
@@kman55w When he plays it live, I think this guy always gives credit to the people from whom he learned the song. He's not passing it off as something he wrote. It's obviously a folk song, being interpreted by another artist as these things have always been and always will be. Are you ok?
Sweet potato
