I listen to Wisp when i'm happy or sad. Wisp is my reward after a bad day. Wisp is my punishment after a bad day, because it forces me to thinking about stuff I don't really want to think about. I listen to Wisp everytime some strong emotions are going through my head. Wisp is the biggest revelation in my life. You may not understand. You may not be able to touch it. But this is fuc*ing real. Thank you Reid for making such music.
I feel you. Every song sends you on a journey full of emotions. Most of them start quietly, then arouse curiosity, bring aggression, but also joy and melancholy, and finally they calm you down again. It is pure art.
quick question how did you learn about wisp? I got into IDM only this year and NRTHNDR was in my recommended and I just loved his work but I can't find much info about him on google
@@MrMagicman2343 oh no I'm sorry sir, the only thing I noticed was that this song was uploaded 13 years ago :) I don't know anything about the artist! Good luck on your search
In a time when electronic music seems to be shunning fast breakbeats for slow, heavy rhythms, both in club music and in home-listening music, this song shows the relevance of Aphex Twin style break insanity mixed with beautiful melodies.
Basically, what Kevin Gaillardet said, plus Aphex Twin, The Orb, Boards of Canada, DJ Spooky, Plaid. There's lots of awesome electronic music out there.
Holy fuck, another underrated unknown gem in IDM music. This guy is fucking sick, comparable to aphex twin. Keep up the good work. This is one of those songs that Touch me, so very beautiful.

No problem, I'm a huge fan of King Crimson, one of my favorite bands and that's a good thing, ironically, I used to hate this type of music until I heard of Aphex Twin and that is what got me into electronic music. Also, check out the pioneers of electronic music like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream.
Thanks man I appreciate the recommendations, especially from a King Crimson fan. I'm a huge metalhead but lately have really been craving this kind of sound.
Wisp is among the mellifluous mind, a true ghost of Aphex Twin and boards of Canada inspired music. My kind of music, I didn't really realize him because he was in the background, among the boc remix that got a lot of attention, not even to mention his name that he worked on tears of a compound eye remix. It said "lachrymatory edit" but it was wisp that made the remix. I now have more to explore, it is very limited to do something different and make it sound good. I am also impressed he was in rephlex records
I doubt it...but I'd like to! I live in Toronto...but I love the UK and the scene there is lovery, Last year I went completely short notice...so it could happen again! :D
I'm so attached to this i literally have no comment to say... with every video i open, i discover a new amazing underrated artist, download their discography, and my life becomes grand again, but i'm greedy, i need more.... in the end of the day, there's no one like Richard james, to be honest.... I'm so fucking attached to this track tho. I mean at 2:30, I DARE YOU TO TELL ME YOU DON'T FEEL THAT, THAT MAGICAL FUCKING FEELING.... Life's fucking beautiful.
Fellow Wisp fans! I am not much of a fan of electronica in general, but I love the shit out of Wisp's sound. Medatative, yet energetic. Do you have any recommendations for anything else like this? And I'm not looking for a Wisp clone, but is there any other good electronica acts with more of this style? Thank you!
Does anyone know what the man speaking is referencing? A word search won't bring up any results for me, except one book where I can't find the exact quote.
Does anyone know where i can buy full wisp's albums?

NRTHNDR is on Wisp's own Bandcamp with a slightly expanded tracklist, though none of his other pre-2010 stuff is. As far as those go, his free releases are all on wisp.kaen.org, Building Dragons is on the Bandcamp page of Teminal Dusk, and I think Honor Beats is still for sale on a decent amount of websites as a physical CD. It was last year, at least, that's when I bought it. As far as the releases on Rephlex are concerned I can't really help you.
I'm not personal friends with Reid Dunn(Wisp) And he's an AMAZING person with an AMAZING personality, and he will NEVER stop making music... i can assure you that. As for aphex twin.. I've beent rying for 3 years to get incontact with him Without ANY Kind of help from anyone... It's impossible! He's more hidden than motherfucking Osama binladen!
@@glassboxes already did. My best friend passed away at the time of the original comment, promised him if anything ever happens to him i'd deliver a message to richard. Man, time flew. Richard turned out to be a nice guy, as expected.
@buzekn well, i have to say this is obvious no breakcore, breakcore is much, much harder (venetian snares is a good example for breakcore - not always, but almost). this is idm. even though idm is a very widespread style and can't be determined on one song/artist only. as said idm (for me) is hardly t explain. if you're in it, you hear it. ;)

No need to punish yourself, my dude. everybody has a bad time sometimes.
I feel you. Wisp resonates a lot in me aswell. It's this back and forth between melancholie, aggression and happieness.

It felt like this track was made perfectly, like its so well made that its feels that i listen and understand it at 100% ahahaha idk how to explain
The melody that pops in at about 4:45 has always been a favourite.
Im on heat with this wonderful peace .. a real slow motion feeling .IDM forever
this whole album is fucking sick.

The first minute or so of this track is pure awesome.. Then again so is the whole thing! :D
this is incredibly creative.
I am glad i bought the cd! Wisp is drill and bass at it's best! Bomb!😎
fucking amazing track, feeling everything that it's trying to convey rn
when you call the teacup chorus, this is what you get. A clown on fire doing accordion and a leather glove combo on the hammond. Awesome
a millions time over...and it is still freaking awesome! =)
even the songs that take you to dispair...that's because the music remembers where it came from...

I still haven't found someone else with his complexity and amazing melodies.
Monowolfe is the closest though I've found but they know each other on soundcloud already.
Zero X shut up, put ur pretensions aside, this is amazing
Them: I listen to breakcore

shut up about boc and aphex.
this is a great track.
boc do kinda different music. it's more like squarepusher and aphex.
Breakcore IS hard. hence the "core".
This is somewhere between IDM or Drill N Bass.
this is dragging pain out of my body
He's from Niagra Falls - what a place to live!
You going to Bangface again this year?
I've heard mentions of Aphex Twin already. Oneohtrix Point Never and Ratatat are also good.
