This LP is the best example of what years of mastering your craft can do. Roc Marci's pen game is one of the most (if not the most) unique in the game for years. Alc production is like fine wine nowadays, he knows what to do and is very fast at pulling the trigger to do so. Now combine those factors, and you have in your hands a guarantee classic.
Great minds think alike. Before even reading your comment I made a comment saying ALC's production is aging like fine wine too. Seems like he's just getting better and better throughout the decades.
time and time again i find myself back here, this album is even better in retrospect than it was at release, and it blew my mind back then so that is saying something
The Alchemist is literally my favorite producer. The harmonies have an ethereal quality to them like dream pop almost but dripping with this urban noir. Its like he incarnated here to make these beats. Like he might have been you born in another era, but is here now creating these beats that allow you to take a "quantum leap". I could go on and on!
Roc Marciano is an unsung legend to the game. The most consistent and smooth with the pen. Let's not even talk about the production. Whether its him behind the boards or someone just as fire like Alchemist, he stays nice.
@@Lee_obschevy lmfao ain't no DOOM "remember all caps when you spell the man name."..and WSG is wack asf. He's more like himself. Put him in the category by himself it's lonely up top.
I would argue that it's not really underground anymore if it's popping on, by far, the biggest streaming service on Earth. But I feel where you're coming from.
@@LaughingGasFunny true but its rare to hear a producer still perfecting the same sound all these years later. Most producers went pop by now. Alch is still mastering the craft.
Just literally heard this track, I immediately recognised the sample: “Ghetto: Misfortunes Wealth” by The 24-Carat Black, year 1973. The way the sample is flipped on this track, is the best take, I have heard on this sample and many artistes have used it! Roc flows on this track, beautifully.. cannot stop playing it! 🔥
@@zephicharles9559 Yes my bro but his intonation in this case favours the UK pronunciation of the phrase. But the mecca (or Ja-mecca in this case) remains undisputed. Much love 🖤
I need to see a video for "Liquid Coke". The Alchemist has his production on the beats aging like fine wine. From his early beginnings cutting it up with Mobb Deep (🙏🏾 R.I.🅿️), to making dope ass albums with Curren$y, Freddie Gibbs, Action Bronson, Boldy James, Earl Sweatshirt, Conway the Machine, and Roc Marciano. 🅰️LC definitely needs to be in that conversation along with Primo, Pete Rock, Large Pro, DJ Muggs, Q-Tip, The RZA, Havoc, Sir Jinx, Cold187UM, K-Def, Da Dungeon Family, and even Roc Marciano himself.

And to think Antony Fantano doesn't rate this. Well he can take his anti-Roc bias, sod off and go back to reviewing teen pop, because this is grown man's hip-hop. Timeless, classic, refined, masterful art.
Pimpire Boss himself Roc Marci! By far the best in the game right now! Behold of a Dark Horse and Rosebud Revenge are truly my personal favorites however this is sitting very well with me! I swear I find a new catch phrase everytime I listen to it.
@@john1120 Marcielago isn't one of his strongest in my opinion, but the Rosebudd era that produced RR1 and Dark Horse was sublime. Since then, this is his best work. Not that I don't like his previous two projects, but he entered into a new phase of experimentation and was finding his feet a little. This album is the culmination of his efforts over the previous few years, I feel.
