Why did the GMs from Thunderbolt just underperform worse than the Windams for SEED Destiny?Were these pilots even trained properly?They acted like novices not knowing what to do.
Watsonian: The Moore Brotherhood were not regular Federation military but a civilian militia consisting of survivors of one of the Sides that got wrecked by Zeon during the early days of the war. By contrast the Living Dead Division consisted of hardened veterans who held a defensive advantage in the Thunderbolt sector due to all the debris floating in space. Doylist: Federation grunt suits are the equivalent of Star Trek's Redshirts.
Oh I would also like to ask why the Federation gave these under trained militia high performance and hard to produce units usually given to ace pilots like the GM Cannon or Guncannon?
There are few mangas and source books that give a more fair outlook for both sides of the series. Some of those books actually are more pro federation with how the pilots are using mainly grunts suits or customized ones instead of mainly using gundams.

@@嘘は事実に勝てない でもこの時代の対ビームコーティングじゃ気休めにもなんないだろうし、大型デブリ押すのも無理臭いし、同胞団は戦果あげないとって焦ってるからやっぱりこの戦い方は仕方ないと思う
実は同胞団上層部としては戦後に向けてサイド4宙域に唾を付けておきたいだけなので、真面目に戦果を上げるつもりはなかったりする（艦隊がいるだけで補給線に圧力をかけるには十分）。
ただし出撃した実績がないとそれだけ戦後の権益が削られてしまう（最悪自治も認められない）ので、空母ビーハイブ（冒頭のコロンブス級が二つくっついてるみたいな形した母艦）には定期的に出撃させるように命令が下されている。
