Thanks for this! I just noticed 2 places where they are damaged pretty badly, I hope this can fix it. Unfortunately, it's not at the top of the tines like you, it's at the bottom so I won't be able to put those protectors. I kept seeing rust spots mostly on my knives and I didn't know why lol now I'm guessing it comes from this !
Good question. I just noticed 2 spots starting to show up last week. So, it's been about 1 1/2 years. I'll likely try to sand a retreat those spots soon, before they get too big.
Oh my gosh thank you. I have Rebak and will get the cover for prongs. Course grate sandpaper micro gripe. My dishwasher is nine years old. Replacing rack is expensive. Any ideas for that. Catherine.
Hi Viktor. I just checked Amazon UK for any keywords I could think of to replace ReRack. I couldn't find anything that looked similar. I can tell you it's a brush-on liquid vinyl. I looked at Plastic Glue. I'm not sure it would last. The product would need to be heat-resistant, water-resistant, and chip resistant (with plates and cups banging against it. You could always test Plastic Glue on 1 spot and see how it holds up. Or, try asking an older guy at a hardware store. Some of them are amazing at repairing EVERYTHING. Good luck!!
I had rusty racks in my apartment dishwasher, told the maintenance for repairs, and I think they literally just PAINTED the racks white. I suppose it's covered the rust spots, but that's got to be toxic dont you think?! I open the dishwasher and it smells like PAINT! I haven't used it yet because if this reason. Wondering if you have any experience with that or if you've heard of anyone who has done that. Thanks!
It’s possible there’s a spray that is dishwasher safe. It’s also possible it’s just normal spray paint. Sorry but I have no idea if it’s safe or not after drying. 🙁
The paint would be a ceramic paint I would imagine. Ceramic is the only thing that would coat well, is waterproof, and can withstand the heating element.

Thank you for this video. Much better solution than spending a couple of hundred dollars new rack that may or may not fit. going to give it a try.
Glad it helped!
Great video! Basic, informative, made simple - hey I can do that! Upbeat, no hype! Thanks.

I'd like to see an update on the repair. How long does it take for rust to reappear.

When you run the vinegar through to clean the racks do you also add dishwasher detergent like normal or just the vinegar?
Just vinegar. 👍
@AbbottsAtHome cool thanks. I just moved into a new apartment and gotta fix my racks. I appreciate the help.

Hi, I cannot get ahold of ReRack in Europe. Would you recommend some plastic glue as a substitute?

What is liquid vinyl and can you use that on a regular dish rack, a drainer?
The paint would be a ceramic paint I would imagine. Ceramic is the only thing that would coat well, is waterproof, and can withstand the heating element.
Does re-rack make it easier for the covers cap to go in?
I don’t think it makes it easier or harder.

It's a Gator MicroZip. They usually have it at hardware stores. Or, here's a link on Amazon: amzn.to/43ra2P8
