I can tell you from experience that he did not even try to get the most out of that jeep. a simple change in the launch rpm setting to optimize for traction and dial to sport mode and he would have run mid to low 3sec 0-60. The BMW is also an awesome machine
Trackhawk is a muscle car, it's got "track" in its name but that does not mean you can take it on the track. M cars are typically built for track and back roads despite that X6M is a huge SUV. The trackhawk without a doubt is faster in acceleration than the X6M and that altitude comment is not true. The trackhawk has been tested in road courses and really delivers. So not one bit I believe you guys that the X6M is faster in acceleration and in a road course lap. Sorry... I love BMW but give credit where is due, that Trackhawk is slightly better in performance than the BMW. Now in luxury and quality I would definitely give it to BMW without hesitation, no comparison on that.

Overall the bmw x5m and x6m is a better buy since you can snag either for under 40k, some under 30k! Thats 555hp awd that you can easily tune to 650+ for less then 2k! The only jeep worth spending over 50k on is a new top of the line eco diesel wrangler coming out soon. You will see the trackhawks used in the 50's in 2 years just like the hellcats that are now in the mid 40's.

In these comparisons involving the crazy fast suvs (mainly in the upper-midsize section), I don’t understand why the x6m is used instead of the x5m. The x5m is more of the suv and is more comparable in its overall structural/body design.
2018 Jeep Trackhawk 6.2 V8 produce 707 hp 645 lbft. 2015 BMW X6M 4.4 V8 produce 567 hp 553 lbft. Trackhawk suppose better than X6M in drag race, but the issue is transmission or clutch.

I personally love the Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk. I hope they continue to produce them so in about 2 years I can buy one new. I'm planning on buying a Hellcat by the end of summer. Not sure if I'll get a Charger or a Challenger yet. I love them both.

You can find them used now with low miles under 50k! Oh and if you want an even better deal then snag a newer srt8 and just slap a procharger on it and boom you have hellcat power for around 40k. Or snag a police edition charger rt with awd and procharge that and have a 650hp awd monster with traction that with destroy a hellcat and for under 40k.
The difference between the 2 became obvious when you didn't feel the need to wear a helmet in the BMW. I own a X5 & X3 as well as Voyager 2.8 CRD and a Jeep cherokee CRD and while I love them all , the Beemer will always be more refined.

The acceleration test went as expected at altitude... supercharged engines do about as well as NA. Turbos are where it's at if you want to keep the power level so high up. Also those BMWs are very underrated to begin with. The track test was very interesting though. The X6 did better than expected - I guess BMW put more money into the suspension and those Michelins helped as well. Wonder if better tires and a 1" drop will change the Jeep for the better... although nobody's buying both of those cars to take them to the track, so it's kind of pointless.
As a Jeep fan, I think the Track Hawk is more of a gimmick than anything. With that said, I would own one if I had the money. Fuel economy isn't too far off my current 97 Grand Cherokee. Not to sound like a total fan boy, but I think the altitude played a roll in the straight line performance. Cheers to the BMW for performing better this time around.
The BMWs do well because the DME (ECU) adjust the turbo for altitude providing more boost so 0-60 is the same as sea level on every BMW tested on this channel while other manufacturer's cars are much slower. This is why piggy back tunes on BMWs can translate into substantial gains of 100 horsepower or more at sea level by tricking the computer into thinking it is at high altitude by sending low air pressure values. Would be interesting to see how well these piggy back tunes do compared to sea level over stock tune. The Jeep product might also be slower because with a supercharger you can't really vary the boost that much when air pressure is lower.
Ok for starters I had no idea the x6m was that damn fast. Secondly, I think the trackhawk is badass no matter what anyone says because that is one insanely fast brick. But it's also a dodge and I would never pay 100k for one of those. Great video guys as always!
To be fair we're comparing a true to a tall sedan. Despite it height, weight, and girth, it still manged to stay in the race. Quite the accomplishment if you ask me. As for Paul he sounds like a traditionalist that eschews moving forward. There's no rule that says owning an SUV has to be dull. I also think he might be a little jelly that the gap between the sports car and a big SUV is a lot less today than it used to be. Try explaining that one to the missus.
I'm kinda surprised the X6M was quicker around the track. Then again, I'm not. X6M is based on the 5 Series (M5/M6 to be more specific) and the Trackhawk is based on a Grand Cherokee (duh). But I thought the Trackhawk could make up for it with an extra 140 hp. Probably closer to 100 hp since BMW underrates their engines. But still.

Engines are machines. From time to time parts wear out and need replacing.Some engines are turbo charged.Do the parts in a turbo charged engine wear out more quickly than in a standard engine - given that all the other variables are the same?

I personally love the Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk. I hope they continue to produce them so in about 2 years I can buy one new. I'm planning on buying a Hellcat by the end of summer. Not sure if I'll get a Charger or a Challenger yet. I love them both.

You can find them used now with low miles under 50k! Oh and if you want an even better deal then snag a newer srt8 and just slap a procharger on it and boom you have hellcat power for around 40k. Or snag a police edition charger rt with awd and procharge that and have a 650hp awd monster with traction that with destroy a hellcat and for under 40k.

The difference between the 2 became obvious when you didn't feel the need to wear a helmet in the BMW.
I own a X5 & X3 as well as Voyager 2.8 CRD and a Jeep cherokee CRD and while I love them all , the Beemer will always be more refined.
Should have been X5M vs Trackhawk. The grand Cherokee is not a humpback sub like the GLE and X6. The X5M would have been a better test.

Actual trackhawk owners are turning 11.2@120 with their trucks, today, at drag strips, with videos. 100% oem stock down to all season tires. There is not one stock x5/X6 M that comes close to that. Period. End of story. Stop the debate as to what truck is faster in a straight line right now. Heck, I don't believe I've seen a modified x5/x6 M run a low 11, but I could be wrong. Btw, I'm a trackhawk owner that ran an 11.2@120 today, and I've only been to track twice with it. How long has the X5/X6 been out? ...lol ThawkMike on IG if you want see vids and slip.

I’ll take the hellhawk then the BMW. Hellhawk faster, about 21k cheaper and cheaper to fix. I prefer drag racing then track racing.

actually, I think that Chrysler does not do a good job with reliability on turbos in general. So Supercharger is the safe bet.

The acceleration test went as expected at altitude... supercharged engines do about as well as NA. Turbos are where it's at if you want to keep the power level so high up. Also those BMWs are very underrated to begin with.
The track test was very interesting though. The X6 did better than expected - I guess BMW put more money into the suspension and those Michelins helped as well. Wonder if better tires and a 1" drop will change the Jeep for the better... although nobody's buying both of those cars to take them to the track, so it's kind of pointless.

As a Jeep fan, I think the Track Hawk is more of a gimmick than anything. With that said, I would own one if I had the money. Fuel economy isn't too far off my current 97 Grand Cherokee. Not to sound like a total fan boy, but I think the altitude played a roll in the straight line performance. Cheers to the BMW for performing better this time around.

The BMWs do well because the DME (ECU) adjust the turbo for altitude providing more boost so 0-60 is the same as sea level on every BMW tested on this channel while other manufacturer's cars are much slower. This is why piggy back tunes on BMWs can translate into substantial gains of 100 horsepower or more at sea level by tricking the computer into thinking it is at high altitude by sending low air pressure values. Would be interesting to see how well these piggy back tunes do compared to sea level over stock tune. The Jeep product might also be slower because with a supercharger you can't really vary the boost that much when air pressure is lower.
Ok for starters I had no idea the x6m was that damn fast. Secondly, I think the trackhawk is badass no matter what anyone says because that is one insanely fast brick. But it's also a dodge and I would never pay 100k for one of those. Great video guys as always!

To be fair we're comparing a true to a tall sedan. Despite it height, weight, and girth, it still manged to stay in the race. Quite the accomplishment if you ask me. As for Paul he sounds like a traditionalist that eschews moving forward. There's no rule that says owning an SUV has to be dull. I also think he might be a little jelly that the gap between the sports car and a big SUV is a lot less today than it used to be. Try explaining that one to the missus.
I'm kinda surprised the X6M was quicker around the track. Then again, I'm not. X6M is based on the 5 Series (M5/M6 to be more specific) and the Trackhawk is based on a Grand Cherokee (duh). But I thought the Trackhawk could make up for it with an extra 140 hp. Probably closer to 100 hp since BMW underrates their engines. But still.
