I-751 Waiver for a Domestic Abuse Victim: A Tsang and Associates Success Story

In today’s story, the client came to the US with the hopes of marrying her prince charming. But what should have been a fairytale quickly turned in to a nightmare as she silently suffered from emotional and physical abuse from her U.S. spouse. She decided to get a divorce and remove herself from this dangerous situation. The problem was, in order to file a I-751 waiver, she needed to prove that her marriage was bona-fide in the first place. As is the case with most domestic violence victims, she had very little financial documents or proof that their marriage was real. Thankfully, she saved all of her text messages and Tsang & Associates creatively pieced them together in a compelling narrative, successfully proving to USCIS that the client entered into a real marriage that subsequently ended due to her husband’s abuse. The I-751 waiver was approved and the client was given a chance at a fresh start in the US as a permanent legal resident.
