Hell's bells, Loretta--that scene always slays me. How I loved Josh & Reva when they mined their history & Josh loved Reva with everything he had. Kim Zimmer always deserved those Emmys, but why Robert Newman was never even nominated is a mystery to me & frustrating beyond words as I would have gladly handed him an Emmy or three--he was & is spectacular!
This is just one of those classic take-your-breath-away scenes, where acting, directing and music all come together to make what we LOVE about daytime. I don't what i will do w/out my Zimmer fix after GL ends -- thank GOD for youtube!

I could and enjoyed Reva in almost all of her relations, except with HB, but Josh I didn't like any of his relations and the romance could never compare to him and Reva! Miss GL!

It was always easier to like the men with Reva (except Alan) than the women with Josh (except Harley because she is so like Reva, and early Annie before I knew they were bringing back Reva). Reva always turned to men that she felt accepted her the way she was and it was always because of Josh’s rejection. Also, she never once cheated on him, but he did cheat on her.

I have to agree that this Josh is the one that made me fall in love with Jeva. Of course it always help when you have very talented actors (i.e. Kim). I wish Josh would somehow revert back to this Josh so the Jeva fans can be happy again. But I'm fine with Jeffeva at the moment too!

OK, I finally got TH-cam working again so I can now relive all my favorite GUIDING LIGHT stories. I watched GL from late 1981 until its cancellation in Oct 2009 & I remember running home from school & later work to see Phillip/Beth/Rick/Mindy, Lujack & Beth, Billy & Vanessa, Lillian & the great James Rebhorn as Bradley Raines [I think he should have won an Emmy for that role,] Tony & Annabelle Reardon, Michael Zaslow's triumphant 1989 return as Roger Thorpe, and of course, the incomparable Joshua Lewis & Reva Shayne, as portrayed by the delicious Robert Newman & Kim Zimmer. Even though Robert left GL in 1984 & returned in 1986 [while Reva was being romanced by Larkin Malloy's Kyle Sampson] & Kim left GL in 1990 only to return in 1995, to know that Josh & Reva were inhabited by the same actors for their entire run is reassuring to me. I certainly have lots of bones to pick regarding GL's last few years [the backstage stuff between Paul Rauch & Michael Zaslow still make me angry--in my opinion, no one should be treated like MZ was] & the writing for the last 5-10 years left me thinking that the new writers did not do their research and/or have never watched an hour of GUIDING LIGHT in their lives. The character destruction of Beth Raines was truly hard to digest, when I recall how she was introduced as a strong yet vulnerable teenager, victimized by incest who was able to overcome her obstacles & become the strong young woman she eventually became. Toward the end of GL's run, Beth married Alan Spaulding, her once-feared & loathed father-in-law. [Storyline disconnect.] Then we have the enduring love story of Joshua Lewis & Reva Shayne. Of course they have children, marry & divorce, marry other people, Reva goes Amish, Reva meets a hot young doctor & goes blind; Reva has a baby while a princess in another country; Reva jumps through paintings & marries Jeffrey, a mysterious lawyer, and gets pregnant with a son & discovers she has breast cancer. Reva tells her husband, Jeffrey, and Josh's brother, Billy, all the while telling Josh he is "not enough anymore" for her because she thought she had been going through menopause. [The whole thing was just so maddening because I remember thinking, We got 7 months to go before GL is gone & the writers are pairing Josh with Cassie? If I wrote GUIDING LIGHT, here's what I would do... I remember when the writers had Reva say, "You're not good enough for me anymore, Joshua" [I recall thinking, WHAT? They've sold 'Josh+Reva' for years & now, with a few months left on the air, the producers are pulling this? It's deja vu all over again! [I loved Ed & Maureen! FINALLY an adult [Lillian/Ed/Maureen] storyline! No happiness/dramatic resolution for them. What happened to them=Maureen is killed in a car accident, earning Ellen Parker an Emmy.] I loved Buzz & Jenna! What happened? No happiness for them=Jenna is killed in a car accident. I loved when Josh was kind to Reva. It did not seem to happen often, but when it did...and toward the end of GUIDING LIGHT, Reva seemed to be cruel to Josh more than she used to. [A sneaky, unspoken ploy to turn viewers off before the actual end date? It's only my paranoid, suspicious unspoken opinion...
