I use the shells as a spoon,saves washing up ! 🙂
Top idea mate!
Bang on mate, use shells to pick them out, that's the way I roll 😂😂
Lol Cotton Eye Joe - good grief that is decades ago, but then again I think we are about the same age ! / Looks nice visually for sure / Now that is encouraging - I think they are a winner! / Mark
It would've been fun knowing you at school I'm sure chap :)
YUM!!! When I was living in NZ, the Green-Lipped mussels were almost embarrassingly cheap. And this company (can't remember the name) made these marinated mussels that were shucked and put into a light pickle. They were just delicious. Virtually every restaurant worth a damn always had mussels in a garlic and white wine sauce. Served with a house-made baguette and butter.
Oh wow, I'd love to try those pickled fellas :)
Yum!... 😋 You know me and Seafood Papp... I absolutely love the stuff... I guess that with the weight of the actual product being 450g... Once the Mussel Shells and the Garlic Butter Sauce are taken into consideration... The weight of the Mussel meat itself won't be all that high really... But it's certainly convenient having it as a boil in the bag product... Personally i don't cook Mussels very often... I usually eat them cold with Malt Vinegar... But the ones i normally get... Are the Asda Frozen Mussels 400g for £3.50... They're precooked and shelled Mussels... That have been flash frozen in a protective ice glaze... Simply remove the amount needed from the resealable pack... And defrost them in the fridge for eight hours first... The other Mussels i buy... Are the Chilled Asda Tasty Cooked Mussels... 150g for £1.50... But the one that's closest to the Lidl Mussels you tried here Papp... Are their Asda Rich Roasted Garlic Butter Rope-Grown Scottish Mussels... 500g for £3.00... And are also M&S Taste Matched... The only other one that they offer... Is their Asda Fresh Rope-Grown Live Scottish Mussels... 1kg for £3.00... So with this larger 1kg pack... It'll be ideal for serving a meal for between two and three people at a time... 👌 Many thanks for the review Papp... It's very much appreciated my friend... All the very best... Cheers mate. 🍺
My goodness mate, the research you put in to ascertaining the best deals regarding our food astounds me :)
@@Papparoni 😂 No worries mate... But i did notice that Asda currently have the Whitby Seafoods Scampi 370g for £3.25... Down from £4.50... So if Scampi is your thing too Papp... I would grab a couple of bags to pop in your freezer while they're so cheap pal... 👌 Cheers Papp. 🍺
Definitely my thing, fresh bread or roll to mop up the sauce 😋
Damn right Lynne :)
Hi Papp.
Mmmmmussles! 🤤
Now this is something different from your regular reviews. I'm glad you decided to review this.
They look absolutely delicious.
Way better than oysters (shell boogers), and better than clams.
I'd never had mussels before having them at the Port Fitzroy boaties club, Great Barrier Island, New Zealand, way back in my early 20's.
They were bbq'd a dozen for $5 and I went back for a second serve, 24 mussels in total and about.....so many bottles of beer. Ever since then I've been hooked on anything mussels and often add them to a pizza. Too bad they make my gout flare up, but I'm willing to sacrifice the pain occasionally.
Nice find at a great price.
Cheers John 👍😀
Top story mate, bbq mussels sound fantastic, as for shell boogers :D I don't like them either!
If those are the ones I had when I visited my sister, then they are nice. Cant remember exactly but she bought 2 of them and I was well impressed. Not bad at that price, with the delicious sauce too.
Pleased you enjoyed yours Uncle :)
Another Excellent review here ! I really enjoy mussels and these from Lighthouse bay are very tasty - I reviewed these a year ago and it is good to see that they have only risen in price by 20p !! now I have seen this I must buy some more ! have a top day Mate :-)
Nice to know we agree on this one mate :)
Oh yeah!
A nice piece of crusty French bread dipped in the juice would be great
Damn right mate
Omg i could eat those for breakfast!
Oh yes Jane!
That kitty kat at the end always gets me chiming in on the action lol
Indeed she likes to get involved!

The ones in white wine sauce are divine too.
Roger that my friend :)
Decent price, ❤
Absolutely!
I've had quite a few muscles over the years too. Unfortunately now I'm 62 I've gone to seed😂 I hear Catteroni wanted some!😂
Indeed she makes her desires known Chris!
Lump of crusty bread to dip in that sauce 😋
Oh yes jay :)
Healthy and only £2 and your cat is funny 🤣
Oh she's a bundle of joy mate!
Ooh that's funny I have co-op ones in the fridge, white wine sauce, and a bit of crusty bread to mop the soupy goodness up. Delicious, haha the "Meowmyeah" at the end!
She likes to be heard that's for sure!
@@Papparoni Hehe, wonder if she is like our family cat, he complains about being included then what is put down is sniffed and scoffed at, then the paw and wait next to his luxury cat food bowl...Feline version of "ahem?" Hehe!
@@louiseed1321 :D
I must admit that i'm not exactly the biggest of seafood fans Pap, however I may have to 'mussel in' on these 😁
Hahaa, like it Mr Atkinson :D
Thanks for showing us your mussels! 😂
My pleasure chap!
Great video pap the orange one's are male. I crave them must need some nutrients they have
I never knew that, thanks Joejoe :)
The only mussels I've had are the jarred ones from heron 👍
Really?
Nice things Sarah :)
@@Papparoni yes they are 👍
I wonder how much the shells weigh? I can't complain about anything though as it's not something I've ever eaten.
Complain regardless Edward, you wouldn't be you otherwise!
Fresh are the best with unsalted butter, garlic and tarragon rather than parsley, looked nice though Papparoni, do you like Herrings?
You know your food mate, and yes I do like herrings.
@@Papparoni I'm a trained Chef so yeah I guess although I learn something new daily. Sainsbury's do this 'Silver Tide Roll Mop Herring 380g' for £2.50 very nice with fresh crusty white bread if you want to review it.
Thank you for the heads up Skorpion

Have you thought about using fewer descriptors in your reviews like what the macmaster does?
Not really Leigh, I assume my viewers want a thorough description of what they might be getting :)
@@Papparoni well the viewer counts don't lie. Unless they do
It's all fixed but I don't care, I do it because I like to :)
Great review paps but not foer me BTW I think cattaroni wants some 😊
Indeed M she always makes her needs known!
