3X is a common multiple for sales. Typical business 1/3 labor, 1/3 product, 1/3 other overhead. Which makes hotdogs perfect owner/operator makes 2/3 of money from the sale.
Brother you are truly heaven sent. I know for sure you are motivating people to become Entrepreneurs. I’m in the kettle corn business and always looking to add other products to complete my My product line.
I appreciate that! We have lots of kettle corn vendors in our VendorsUnited.com group. Lemonade is a great one to add or the mini donuts. 😁 Thanks for sharing.
Hey man, You are really good! I am a professional Santa. I have made a 2-month hobby pay. My wife and I wish to branch out for the extra income and to stay busy the rest of the year. We just found your site and brother do you nail the issues. Being Dogs and being Santa is very very different, your educational approach to how to sell food is great. Thank you!
WTF! Went to Home Depot today & was surprised to see a typically run HD cart business selling their HD's for $3.50 each. Just your basic HD. They used to be $3.00 each. The kicker here I thought was the fact that HD was giving away free HD's at their exit door while the other guy was selling his dogs for $3.50
In my market not going to reveal where if you pay five or less you're getting nothing but a soggy bun and a nasty boiled hot dog that you wouldn't feed to your dog! good quality stands are selling in the 6 8 range
WOW!!! You sure lit a fire under my ass! It's gonna take me a couple of days to binge watch everything, then your course and then my homework... man, I'm on fire! THX Ben
You really need to look at Carolina Packers Hotdogs in Smithfield North Carolina. They are the best selling hot dogs in North Carolina. All the college football teams started two years ago selling them at all football games. It's a red hot dog and the best in the world. They also sell chili and it's also the best in the world.
Thanks for your great life lessons as well as how to cook,, just bought a cart in Vancouver BC feeling so much more confident now that I found your channel!!!
You are a Godsend Ben! Thank you for all of your wisdom! I cannot wait until my first day out! Thanks to you I think I will have fun rather than be scared shitless! I ordered one of your water heaters but I can’t seem to get it to fire up. I think I’m doing something wrong. Is there a video that shows how to get the flames to come on? Thank you so much!
That f'ing crazy imho. Now depending on where the hot dog is being sold like, in the tourist areas, I guess the tourist will pay. I'm sure in Lexington that no one would pay 6 bucks for a basic all beef Nathan's. I know damn well I wouldn't pay that much for a basic dog.👍🇺🇸
When I started My business My hot dog was ,2.50 incubus state sale tax ,soda $1.50 Other vendor I know Captain hot dog Told me to raise my prices. Captain hot dog . been business Long time. I raise my hot dog to 3.00 ea Drink 2.00 ea Sales went up Now my hot dogs are $4.00 ea Sales went up
Hi Big Ben! I've been struggling with my prices. I need to raise them. I'm even loosing money on ice for my coolers selling 12 ounce cans. How much can I sell an all beef Sabrett? Thinking raising it from 3 to 4 dollars and sabrett with home made toppings to 5. Any thoughts?
When I price out all beef dogs at sams now it’s over $1.00 per dog. Have prices really increased that much since this video, or am I pricing out something different?
I know this video in dated but I enjoy them. About 1 yr ago I purchased a 24" Garland radiant char broiler. for $200 with the stand. Is this something I can use on a hotdog cart?
Chilli Mann I can't find it. Wal-Mart has it on web site but not in store. I was thinking of calling the manger of grocery asking if he could order it... where r u getting it??
I have my company name and business number for Thibodeau's Hot Dogs. Service New Brunswick, Canada. Wants a VIN number there's none. No registration big hassle waiting to hear. What steps I may have to take.
It's 2021 and a decent dog is .50 and buns are .50 + condiments so I'm at about 1.50 real cost. + what .50 incidentals. So I'm at 2.00 cost. 3x cost is 6.00 lol. Inflation is killing us. 5 bucks is pushing it but it's reality. 7.00 for a dog, drink, and chips. Add a buck for sausage
ok im new here and am going to o pen a HD cart this spring in Meridian Idaho any advice and information that can help me in this area Thanks Grunt dog LLC
I need help this is my first time doing this and I’m going to purchase a hotdog cart and I’m moving out of the state of Florida going to the state of Georgia into a good location just wondering how can I start at off
Currently new vendors are paying about .28¢ each for all beef and 17.8¢ for regular hot dogs. Bulk purchases from pro vendors are getting all beef for as low as 13.2¢ each. Contact your local broadline distributor.
hey boss im a subscriber i need a cart that would workwith a bike and E-bike i wish to do steam and a fast grill if they like im in Germany im looking into the laws and stuff im from Canada retired so i need something to do. they dont do it here in this town so i wanna start something. do you have something i can steam dirty water and also grill with bike i also wish to have a chilli for them
Howdy! I am doing a video in the next couple days or so that explains why bike carts for this isn't a good method for vending and why you don't see more of them.
Thank you for your excellent tutorials. If only lectures by college professors would be as clear and concise. Do you have any tips on how to determine the upper limit of the retail price for a specific geographical market? For example, I am planning to open a stand in a town that attracts tourists from a number of states. Are there companies that will do research on the demographics and pricing? Thank you!
You are a wealth of information, can you give it away for free go figure that! I will be joining your crew of vigilantes LOL later on today. I know I can get most of the stuff for free but I’m willing to pay You for all the time you’re given to the people starting up.
So then I shouldn't shop for my product at Costco and food for less! Catch those deals increase my profits by selling HDs only for $3, chips and a can of soda for $5? Are you suggesting that it's really more profitable for me to shop from a vendor for products?
I like what your doing but there is a simpler method to this, you simply divide the cost percentage by 0.35% = "your sale price "example it cost me lets say 5bucks to make the dog with condements and wrapper ect, you would simply punch into your calculator 5÷0.35=$14.28 thats the price you need to sell each dog if you wanted to make proper revenue to generate capital growth

If you flavor your water do you add beer to the water. I have a big steamer and that would be a lot of beer

Do it!
Originally, I forgot to include sales taxes in my overall hot dog retail. In my community that sales tax is 7.1 percent.

Hell yeah, kid! Do it!!! If you’re 14 now, that would be amazing experience.

Great information
This video is 7yrs ago. Do you think these are good prices for the inflation now in 2024, in in south Florida?
Absolutely not. Most vendors are averaging $3.50 per dog.
Oh man, jonesin for a dog now, loaded.

Thank you. Hope you find tons of great info.

Costco hot dog, $1.50 .
It’s 2024. The prices here are from 2017. Beaware. Prices are now triple for costs.
But it shows you how to price and to factor on a 3x or 4x... and there are new videos of it.
You are a wealth of information, can you give it away for free go figure that! I will be joining your crew of vigilantes LOL later on today. I know I can get most of the stuff for free but I’m willing to pay You for all the time you’re given to the people starting up.
Wow! Thank you again!
7 years later tgat $19 box of Sam's hotdogs is $36
So damn true!
Great hotdog for $5
Average for $3
Poor quality $2
I’d rather charge $5 and make $2 on a quality dog
So then I shouldn't shop for my product at Costco and food for less! Catch those deals increase my profits by selling HDs only for $3, chips and a can of soda for $5? Are you suggesting that it's really more profitable for me to shop from a vendor for products?
Not sure what you mean. Give me some context please and I'll do my best to answer.
HMMMMM.... first you said people didn't blink when you raised prices, then you said you caught some flack for it. Can't be both.
🤔
I think only his regulars gave him flack.
