Tip: Hit the small jewelry and antique shops in eastern Europe. You may get really lucky. Also, you can buy massive semi-precious stones in Brazil for very reasonable prices.
When he said that all gems have a soul...I do believe that as well, ever since I was little I've fell in love with stones and now that I'm in school to be a jeweler I can't wait to know more of them ❤️
Well! This time they are talking about collecting vintage jewels with precious stones 🙄 I believe only a small % of a population is doing this. Only the opulent population. I am collecting vintage costume jewelry. And I love it 👍🏼 They are pieces of art and great quality most of them!
I’d rather buy one exclusive piece ;then the modern mass produced jewellery of today. Every antique item was crafted with old mined gems of the best quality in thoses times. Jewellery is a art form often with much history attached ;the older the better in my estimation. Modern jewellery is virtually worthless for resale..rare named items retain their value. I really wished I taken my interest in jewellery more seriously years ago, and found a career in designing it. I’d also love to own a faberge piece.
Modern technology has changed the production of jewellery .materials have the equivalent value but the main difference is that labour and hand skills don’t have the same value as they once did. A real shame in my opinion. We specialise in hand made but have had to adopt modern techniques like Cad into our business.
I started a collection on Ebay back in 1998 where I accumulated fine pieces of Georgian III jewelry. Many of the hair brooches were dated some from the early part of the 1800's and a few from the 1700's. I have an eye for fine jewelry, but today the offerings are slim as you have to spend a great deal more than I did back in 1998. As Sotheby's stated, "fine jewelry is one of the best investments".
I started my collection at JTV. I have Tahitian pearls, Tanzanite, coral pieces, Kingsman turquoise, labradorite, Amber, and precious metals. I'm going to be the first American Maharaja. 😊
Hopefully, there will be other jewelry to be restored soon, only to put this up for auction and other people will buy a history of jewelry from famous families.
So beautiful am trying to build collection of vintage jewellery but not those sorts couldn't afford them .but can little piece of vintage jewellery from pawnshop are the best .u can put things on hold save up then buy
Look for silver if you love to polish it Nobody likes to polish silver and beauties can be had for very little if you know signatures and styles. I've found in Ebay treasures that were literally black blobs.
Thanks for the tips, I’ll keep them in mind for when I win the lottery. I’ll start with a little tiara of course, since I understand owning one is a must. Nothing from the Wallis Simpson collection though, I hate the woman.
So true about quality. I’d much rather a tiny D internally flawless diamond than a large inferior stone any day or something grown in a lab. Even if no one knows it’s perfection but me, I would pick it every time.
So lovely to look at, but... "Hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment...There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity - the man Christ Jesus." I Timothy 6:17 & 2:5

Sadly, some of the jewelry today is not even metal its plastic made to look like metal.

How to collect antique jewellery : with *money*
Good one! 😂
👍🤣
Lots and lots and lots of money.
Yeah 😂
It’s not necessarily true, although funny, look at thrift stores, they sometimes don’t know what they have
Every shiny gemstone talks to me and says "not yet, but maybe someday you can afford me."
Wow so beautiful.
Most beautiful jwellary

“Gemstones have souls.” No. They don’t. Homeless people have souls. These are rocks and I say this as someone who adores jewelry.
