  • The conspiracy theory known as the "The Dead Internet" has given plenty of reason for concern.
The fear that artificial intelligence and bots might be taking over the web, leaves one with an unsettling gut-feeling, questioning who actually controls the internet.
In the end, you need to draw your own conclusion. I'm merely presenting someone else's story.
    Remember to be critical.

This is easily one of the most plausible and terrifying conspiracy theories out there.

Good topic to think about. Governments mostly need people to discuss some stupid issues instead of government’s flaws. Though I would abstain from conspiracy theories and shadow world government behind the curtains. Mostly likely each country promotes their own agenda

this MIGHT be my favorite video you’ve done yet. Was sucked in from start to finish. Incredible work Hazmat! Don’t stop dreaming.
This video summarizes a lot of the thoughts I’ve been forced to wrestle with as a young technologist
years ago, I worked for someone who was freak smart. Human calculator. Photographic memory. Was a cybersecurity elite. But couldn’t blink. Struggled to understand humor. Told stories of things he’d seen in his life I still fail to wrap my peanut brain around. There was no doubt in his mind that the entirety of the US was ultimately governed by non human intelligences. That was one of the tamer things he told me.
Having developed transformational technologies like blockchain and AI for 8 years, I believe basically all the statistics and data are at best half truths if not totally detached from reality. My favorite example is Einstien’s theory of relativity. According to Wikipedia, “Satellite-based measurement needs to take into account relativistic effects” for satellites to talk to the earth successfully.
I worked on a project where we were trying to build a system to revive dead satellites. We had to pierce the glass fuel tanks of the satellites so hydrazine could be pumped back in. a control module to talk to our refueling satellite had already been developed. Our head dev showed me how it worked, and it used Newtonian math to accomplish the job. No relativistic transformations necessary.
I’ve tried finding a middle ground or an explanation. The scientists I found claim Wikipedia is correct. Every engineer I read up said otherwise.
Ron Hatch, who worked for Jon Deere enabling their tractors to talk to satellites, has much to say on these two conflicting trains of thought. In this other paper, two more engineers working for the navy who assert that Newtonian math is functional down to ‘less than one centimeters’ of accuracy.

having worked AI for two years now, I believe that most everything on the surface internet is not made by people. The way people behave online is not how they behave in real life. Human attention span is expensive. Generated data is free. There’s not a doubt in my mind that mass botnets are employed to try and move populations one way or the other.
Especially our own intelligence forces :D the first casualty of war is .....

There are few greater acts of hubris than assuming we have not been hacked. this is the nature of information warfare. “To not read the news is to be uninformed. To read the news to be misinformed.”
“What is it about society that disappoints you so much?”
"Oh I don't know, is it that we collectively thought Steve Jobs was a great man even when we knew he made billions off the backs of children?
Or maybe it's that it feels like all our heroes are counterfeit; the world itself's just one big hoax. Spamming each other with our burning commentary of bullshit masquerading as insight, our social media faking as intimacy.
Or is it that we voted for this? Not with our rigged elections, but with our things, our property, our money.
I'm not saying anything new. We all know why we do this, not because Hunger Games books makes us happy but because we wanna be sedated. Because it's painful not to pretend, because we're cowards.
    Fuck Society."
And yet despite all this, I’ve never been more optimistic. I disagree that the divergent puddles are few in number and small in scale. I think there is more truth buried underneath all the cruft to be accessed than ever before.
While what you find on Google might have been placed there to suade you for one purpose or the other, what you find on google, twitter, or facebook hardly represents the bulk of internet. We forget most online interactions are barred to us. They happen in closed networks. Discords, Telegram groups, Usenets, Tor nodes, IPFS nodes, LORA radio networks, and a plethora of custom solutions we don’t know about.
Channels like saveitforparts or hyperspace pirate offer incites into such a wide array of practical technology that until 20 years ago, you had to have a degree in to understand. AI itself is a tool for everyone, as cheap as the data polluting our precious internet. There was a leaked internal document from google that showed they believe open source AI models are outpacing private endeavors. Until this point in history, only the elite have been able to employ human level intelligences to serve them. That power is about to be at the finger tips of almost every mind on the planet. We are slowly entering an age of the common man.

Deep thoughts. I appreciate your comment. Though I'm hesitant to ring the bell of the apocalypse (yet at least) - the prospect of the possibilities hidden within the use of artificial intelligence and the web as a whole, does merit concern.

It is interesting hearing this conspiracy as most of the places I hear about these sort of ideas or thoughts, tend to only focus on cryptids and it is refreshing to watch a vid that is different from the majority of vids. Additionally I think this thought and conspiracy is truly frightening...which is both good and horrible to realize as I enjoy and fear this feeling...and totally not fueled by the dystopian games and universes that I tend to flock to.
