Nice fix there, James. I'd have been tempted to run it back to MG's :-) When you take caravans apart like that you realise how cheap components are - obviously, they do it to save weight, not money....
Thanks Graham, I probably would have if I hadn't have had to take it apart when we were away so that I could isolate the shower just so we could have water on. It was quite straightforward. The parts though as you say were vert flimsily. I was worried about cracking the surround. Thanks for watching and commenting mate. See you next week.
That was on a basin tap though ! It was a swift vector,my problem was different the chrome plating had come off inside the spout and lodged in the aeration filter which reduced flow to a trickle
Thanks, I will look see if I can find it on the old one, I honestly looked everywhere, Hopefully I can repair and have a spare. Thanks for commenting. James
I’ve done a door handle replacement and swapped locks to retain the original key too that was a good test for me ,wish I’d taken a video of both of those and posted it because I couldn’t find any information on doing those
We had the same issue, had to replace the whole tap (£90) as the caravan part shop also couldn’t remove the cartridge. Brought the faulty tap home and finally got the cartridge out, you screw off the next section down (part which the shower hose connects to not, the black inner section from the top) then the cartridge is inside that.
Ok so I just did my one. When you have taken the hot/cold indicator off and have undone the little screw and removed the handle you will have to remove the collar which is the part that curves up to where the handle was. This should just unscrew but might need pipe pliers on it if a little stiff, remember to put some tape on your pliers so you do not scratch the collar. Once this is off you will see a (on mine) a black/white nut covering the cartridge and holding it in. On household taps this unscrews but this does not seem the case on my caravan tap which meant I spent ages trying to unscrew it. I managed in the end to get a small electrical screwdriver down the side and pop it off releasing the cartridge. Hope this helps. Cheers everyone. John.
I know it’s a bit late now , but for future reference, white spirt (the stuff for cleaning paint brushes) lifts silicone, use that with a rough sponge (the wee ones you use to do the dishes) & the shower will come up a treat. Wash down with soapy water when finished before applying the new silicone.
better off to go to wickes or B&Q and buy a proper household tap with shower fitting. the prices of caravan stuff is a proper rip off for crappy plastic stuff....
I did wonder to give that a go. However, I was worried that the heavier household type might vibrate too much on the thin surround it is mounted to while travelling, causing it to crack.
Brilliant demo as ive got a leaking bathroom tap, and having to try and fit a new one in a Challenger.
Thank you. Hope you got sorted.
Nice repair James 😁👍
Thanks Colin

I did mine the top silver peace unscrews were the white square plastic goes through that holds the cartridge in.
I have to be honest I tried that and couldn't get it out. I will give it another go and see if I can repair it that way I will have a spare 🙂

I believe there’s a very small torks screw in the bottom with screws into a small tab ,then you can separate by pulling the pipes

Hi Chris, Thanks for the additional Info, I will take a look as I still have the old tap and I can get it sorted as a spare.

Thanks, I don't know why I didn't think off that the time. Thanks for watching and happy camping. James
