There is so much inspiration in this. I have a Tikka 243 that can hit a quarter at 325 yards and a 7 Rem Mag that scores almost perfect at 1000 yards but this can only be used if I see the target. A trap or snare is always waiting for the target. Don't have to hope for good timing this way.
I must have watched a hundred trapping videos in the last few week trying to educate myself .. I wished I'd seen this one first .. many thanks for your time
I may not be a trapping expert (mostly researching, gonna start this coming season), but because I know about fibers (I spin my own yarn), I would estimate that wool would release the scents longer because it it more porous/absorbent than cotton thus resulting in a longer period of scent release. Plus, it smells like sheep, which is a plus for coyotes. Cotton works just fine if that's what you have, it's a great idea. Try them both; trapping is 99% experimentation, 1% set in stone. Good luck! :)
more more more. We need more trapping videos. This has been the most educational and fun to watch channel that I've come across. I've watched every episode three times.
Love the videos guys. I've only been trapping two years and I'm not very experienced but I did have a descent year last year. I haven't did as well as I wanted though. Your videos have showed me techniques I plan on using next trapping season. Thank you for all the advice and info. Great videos keep it up.
You guys do a good professional job with your education and camera work. I live in Iowa and also would like to see snow sets and a broader veiw of your finished sets and placements. Thanks again
Excellent videos, 18&19! I'll say this though, MB550's are the better trap out of the box. They are more expensive, but you can open the box, degrease and set. The Victors and Dukes work, after being tuned.
that's a great record not a thing to be ashamed of keep up the great work I started trapping fox at 8 and still doing it at 35 and get just as excited. Hope all your traps are full and be safe.
Kickin' Video. I like the music and the knowledge you are sharing. Many thanks to you. Men, women and children can enjoy trapping with the value of your teaching. ***Way To Go***
stumbled back into these vids. problem is I'm a week from opening bow season and now you have me wanting to go look at trap locations. that why I love this life style always something good to look forward to.
hello I am alexs father I was a trapper in the late 70s after 9 years in the USAF I lost the land to trap and all my traps. my son and 3 of his friends talked me into trapping this year so they can learn. I set 7 today. 14 more to go,your videos have been a lot of help to all here and just wanted to say thank you very much, trying to trap public land with proper permits. Do you have any ideals to keep traps from being stolen.
I assume you skin out your yotes and sell the hides? How do you go about that? I'm about to start trapping strictly yotes after deer season. I've always just thrown the coyotes we shoot during season in a ditch somewhere and I hate feeling wasteful but I have no use for them. Once I start trapping I'll have enough to do something with them. I'd like to see a video for the aftermath of what you do and your process of dealing with what you've caught as you don't see many of those kind of videos. Keep up the good work
I just discovered you man. I absolutely love your videos. It's hard to find good quality videos with great editing and awesome information. Keep it up buddy!
what other sets do you use other than hole sets im just getting into trapping and im just trying to learn a couple good sets to use thank you and great videos guys great work
How many Coyotes do you take every year? To be honest I hunt two properties in upstate NY and it just seems there are a bunch of coyotes, bobcats, foxes, and racoons . Now I am trying to get into predator hunting but I don't think it will be very effective in controlling predator numbers and I happen to live in Brooklyn NY so I can't trap because I would have to check my sets every 24 hours. So its pretty complicated. I really do however want to take some predators out.
Ok been watching some videos trying to wrap my head around the trappings thing and one question I haven’t had answered yet is where do you sell the pelts?
I don't trap coyotes but I do trap fox. Or at least I try. I tried all dirtholes last year. Do you have any further advice for a beginner trapper? P.S. I subed ya!
Old victors are good, but new victors are made outside of america and have weak springs. Sleepy Creek have stronger springs, work better in my opinion, and are roughly the same price
can you make some videos showing how you use the no freeze dirt? like how much to use? can the yotes smell it or anything? great trapping videos! real glad i found your channel

how about bridger coil spring traps or it docent matter what kind of traps
I would use the largest trap that you can
Casey,
I've noticed you use a lot of double sets. Roughly how far apart do you place your traps on a double set?
What do u use for stakes
What brand of bait do u use for coyote
Awsome video guys
Thanks!

How do u pull your stakes out Thanks...awesome vids
Nice editing.
Good video. Good luck getting someone in eastern nc to teach you how to trap
It's becoming a lost art.
great great great videos
Where do you purchase your fleshing beams?
What is the diameter of the drill auger you are using? Thanks!
For trapping coyotes, does it matter if you use coyote urine vs Fox urine?
No whatever you're comfortable with or whichever species is more prevalent.
Who is singing the song at the end of your video? I read where you said it was a custom song from Neil Thrasher but I was wonder who sings it.
Where do you shoot animals? To protect the fur?
Awesome
When they start pulling back move your trap back or simply add another trap out further.
I woulda never started catching coyote if it weren't for these videos
Hawbakers
