    I've a big challenge for me, it's my second chance to take a product photography for bathtub, my first one I've apologized to make it, cuz I've no idea how to make the light setup, but this time I want to take it. I've already make product photography for appliances like Built in hubs, hood and oven. But Bathtub it's so big and I think it's hard to photograph it. I really love to hear your recommendation about how to setup the light to take images that'll used in a catalogue, there will be white, purple and black bathtubs. Thank you

    • @botvidsson
      @botvidsson  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never photographed bathtubs so it's hard for me to give any advice but, if I should shoot a white bathtub for catalog I would probably use a huge light source / diffusion from the top or straight on and then use huge black styrofoam placed closed to the sides to darken some parts of the tub to create some shape. Thanks!

      @@botvidsson thank you very much, I didn't think about the black foam, this gives me one more idea , I was thinking to use black/white backdrop and see how it will effect, but I think I've to make all products looks alike specially those photos will be used in a catalogue.

    Hey Botvidsson! What was the chrome looking stuff that was cut in strips, I don't think that was aluminum foil? It almost looks like a shiny mirrored plastic wrap, did you get that on-line?
    Also, I now have a 4'x6' glass table that I use a lot, this allows me to put many different Table surfaces that I can cut holes or place gels into and set flash from underneath the table. Great Stuff, I have learned a lot from you! Keep up the great work! OH yeah, Your one Hell of a Photographer!

    • @botvidsson
      @botvidsson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Leon! No it's not aluminum, this roll I found in a local craft store, it's very thin and like plastic mirror film.
      What I was looking for and could not find here in Stockholm was Mylar Roll, that should be the stuff to use: www.amazon.com/Earth-Start-Heavy-Reflective-Mylar/dp/B009L6DIPI
      I will order online asap.

      1: it looks like youre blasting light thru a wooden or cardboard platform and placed a opaque piece of glass or plastic over that for slight diffusion of that light yes? Where do you get such materials?
      2: what is that modifier on your key light? I see the snoot but it looks like in front of the snoot you got a reflector with a skrim over it?
      3: i have absolute zero experience with flashes and triggers so first, how do i make sure that im buying the right flash and wireless trigger combo? And second how do you get them to turn on like continuous lights to test the angle of your light i guess?

    • @botvidsson
      @botvidsson  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. Yes correct. It's just frigolite/isolation board that's easy to cut. I get from regular DIY/hardware store.
      The diffusion material on the top you get from photography stores. I use Savage diffusion in this video. You can also use LEE filters or other brands, or tracing/baking paper.
      2. It's a bit strange, I use a regular reflector Profoto on top of a snoot (Chinese no name thing), Not necessary, just use a snoot or a reflector with grid.
      3. Often flashes have there own triggers you can buy. There're also other solutions but then you have to ask in the store or google. The "continuous" light is actually just a so called modelling lamp, and you turn it on on the flash to ruffly see where to point the flash, that light doesn't effect the shot.
