Mike Soutar actually teaches and mentors with his interviews. The few minutes those ladies spent with him are precious and highly educative. They should cherish those moments as it will go a long way in helping them in their future endeavours.
Mike's interviews are the best, because he researtches the candidates in detail and he actually provides fair criticism and feedback, he has done the website thing before, so I am surprised Catherine didn't know about the importance of copyright. Claude and Linda try to be edgy and controversial.
It was unbelievably boring and the quality of business plans and ideas this year were terrible. I have no idea how you could go into this process or bother applying without a proper business plan that considers the risks, barriers to entry and a scale up plan. Another thing that got to me, advocating for sustainability, but manufacturing all the way in China? 😂😂😂 Absolutely foolish
Sorry for the late response but it was interesting that in the 2023 series Lord Sugar asked one of the candidates if her business plan was drawn up with the help of an accountant. Presumably it's not against the rules, but wonder would it be worth shelling out a few hundred quid to fine tune it?

It would have been better for her and for the show if she had got fired much earlier and one of the candidates with an actual functioning business got to the end. She had zero chance of winning and didn't need to get humiliated like that, it was just sad

@@reececollison5101 Exactly if you saw the interviews in the latest season Karren literally snapped at someone calling her by her first name when plenty have done it before and made someone cry. Linda also told a candidate to go back to being an air hostess which is very low even if they weren't the best candidates. Mike was the only one who made factual statements and rightfully questioned about it in an articulate way like when he brought up someone putting a confidentiality agreement in their business plan while being asked to review it which upset him but he didn't have to resort to insults like the rest.
To me that was so bloody hilarious. You can buy a protected domain for something like £40 / year. Includes emails and everything. The fact she didn't even do that is so stupid.
The two people that lied (about ownership and designing her own products) made it to the final, I guess that shows how bad the other plans were. This years apprentice was sad :(
They're pitching themselves for reality TV in a year or two, not for actual investment and a real business, the whole show has been going downhill for a few years now, there used to be a point where at least half of the candidates had some intellect and chance of being genuinely investable.
Kathryn lied but Harpreet didn’t really because she did say she was the owner and put in her business plan she shares it with her sister, I think Claude had a problem with the fact that someone else was involved with the business and not the fact that she lied.
If this is the calibre of the best business people has to offer, the future is bleak. I'm not saying I would do any better, but I'm not putting myself up to it.
You can’t be that naive. They don’t recruit the best people, because the tasks would be a discuss and boring to watch. They pick people with flaws that will be exploited and revealed, and they make sure different personalities can clash with each other.
I love the interviews week. It really shows the candidates for who they really are. You just never get to know what the candidates actually put down on their CV's until then and the interviewers, particularly claude comes up with the best quips and takes no prisoners.
Nothing will EVER eclipse the Solomon interview. If I was him, with the way Claude played about with him and passed him between his paws before DEVOURING him I may well have jumped out of that window 😭😭😭

A colleague of mine recently had his 6 month review and that’s pretty much exactly how it started 😂. I guess that’s what happens when you haven’t delivered anything in months!
I mean they AREN'T normal job interviews are they. This is after months of working on projects which the interviewers will have been observing them on as well.
People have been showing real concern for Claude, saying he's lost a lot of weight and doesn't look well. Whatever's going on he seems still as mentally sharp as ever. Same old Claude.
This year's Apprentice has been very boring. The last task, when the 2 men were sacked, should have been the end. No sales from either team in week 10! "I'm learning, I take that on board etc, etc". Lord Sugar should have sacked the lot!!
That isn't the point of the question. It's almost like a test, because any half sane employer will know that you can't have had much experience. At least 2 of them flat out lied about it... And they failed the test straight off the bat. Don't forget, a huge part of an interview is just getting a feel for what someone will be like to work with, or to be the boss to - that alone is very often more important than the experience.

They’re probably not nasty at all to the candidates, it’s probably edited so they only show the criticism and cut out all the positive bits. They’re critiquing business plans so they’re actually doing them a favour by pointing out the issues in it.
Unless you are applying for a Management position of a multi million pound company Most places won’t really care as long as you drive and have a clean background check I wouldn’t suck up to people who give cold stares and are expecting way too much out of people Sir Alan did very well in business To get there to where he is nowadays is difficult
How can you not have purchased the domain names for your website? Takes a minute to do and costs nothing. Literally the first thing you do when choosing a name for your business
Mike is a common sense guy and Claude is quite mellow here too compared to how he was. I think he is quite a reasonable guy tbh. These contestants are living in la la land. I think lack of experience can be made up for with hard work and solid research though but not buying the domain name you want to use is a huge faux pas.
These people make me laugh - it's like the school bully sits down with you dressed up smartly. If anyone actually interviewed like this in the real world I don't think they would last very long.
Do parents really dress their children in designer clothing in England? Is the contestant talking about designer clothing such as Gucci or Louis Vuitton and not high street like Adidas or Nike. Would people go out of their way to authenticate items such as Nike and if you are rich enough to buy luxury items for your children why would they buy second hand?
Yes she means high end designer like Gucci and Louis Vuitton. I guess the whole point of the second hand thing is that it’s more sustainable as children grow out of their clothes quite fast so instead of throwing the clothes away, Steffs platform would be good to advertise them on. Not every rich person is buying designer, there are people that always buy designer items for themselves that they can barely afford. It makes sense that a parent would want to spoil and kit their kid out in designer clothes and the clothes being second hand drastically decreases the price of them, making it easier and more accessible for parents to purchase.

They talk a good talk at the interview stage though, and that gets them through the door. Unfortunately for them, they are usually found out for what they are, and don't last long.

He couldn't paint or draw to save his life. I love antiques, but I'm not a cabinet maker, but I've enough knowledge and enthusiasm about them to have sold some in the past.
